Idea: a Saw Series Reedited...

If you want to only use III-VI, what would you be doing with Hoffman's open-ended fate from VI's climax?

{SPOILERS!!!!}

I would leave it that way. The way Hoffman ended up in Saw VI was completely deserving so it doesn't really matter if he survives or not. The fact that he was in the trap at all was enough. Besides, after he got out of the Reverse Bear Trap, he still had a gaping hole in the side of his head and he was still locked into a room. It wasn't a Jigsaw trap he was in. It was meant for punishment and was constructed by Jill on order of John after his death.  He was meant to suffer for his crimes, not survive.

Besides, he was the last person involved in the Jigsaw murders if you dont count Jill for that last trap. I cant imagine what VII will do because VI basically tied up the whole story and answered all the unanswered questions.

My opinion of those films is pretty low, but I'd be interested in this sort of idea.

Remember when Horror films used to be scarey? - rather than gore for no good reason...

 yea, they arent the best films. the first one's easily the best of the series and an easy standalone.  This is my way of making acts III-VI into one coherent story and not some long story arc fractured into parts.

Okay, I just joined this site and am extremely interested in fanedits of films. I can see most of the ideas ive had have already been made by you fine people. I have only mediocre skill in editing and there has been an idea eating at me for a while now.

Okay, so i am a big horror fan. One of my more favorite films in this genre was the first Saw film. It worked perfectly on its own. Saw II was a worthy successor and basically set up the plot for the next few films.

However Saws III-VI started to go awry. Basically the storylines of Saws III-V occur within the same 48 hour period with Saw III and Saw IV occuring at the same time. Saw VI was basically the END of the series. I dont care if they are planning a Saw VII or not. Saw VI WAS the last one.

So, heres a challenge. Edit Saw III-VI into one films, totally eliminating the minor plotlines of Saws V and VI (ie the “traps”) because they had nothing to do with the plot of the films and reediting the plots of Saws III and IV to ACTUALLY occur at the same time without having this big stupid reveal that they are in the same timeframe like they did in Saw IV. Although I realize this would set this new “Saw III: Jigsaw Finale Cut” at well over a few hours, i dont really care. I would just like to see it done.

Not that Im demanding that someone do it, Its just an idea i thought i would share with a community that might embrace it.
