Star Wars DVD Covers
Time
First of all Cerebro. Great looking covers. This is the kind of covers I have been looking for since I decided to buy the laserdisc transfers. But I have one spontanius complaint. Like you said you shouldn't have Fullscreen 4:3 on the cover. It should only say Widescreen Version (without 16:9). Maybe a few pictures on the back of the Supplemental Material cover? That's not very important but for continuity' sake. And it looks like there is room for 2 och 3 pictures.

Of course it is impossible to have the same quality on A single layer disc as it is with a dual layer disc. But we are NOT talking about one single layer disc, we are talking about TWO. If you take a transfer and put it on to TWO single layer discs and then the same transfer and put it on one dual layer disc, the quality would be about the same between two single layer discs and one dual layer.

2 single layer = 4,7+4,7= 9,4GB
1 dual layer = 8,5 GB

So actually you will get 0,9 GB more on two single layer discs then on one dual layer.

"But it does say DVD9 quality...which is bullshit."

It has DVD9 quality in the sense that if this guy had put this transfer to a dual layer it would be about the same quality as it is now. It never says that it is a Dual Layer disc. The quality isn't only about space but also about how you use the space, so you can't really define DVD9 as a quality, you have to see it for yourself or let somebody review it before you can be sure about the quality.

The way I interpret it is that they have split each movie on two DVD-5. That way they get about the same space that is included on a Dual Layer disc. They only say that it is "not compressed on 4 DVD-5". That is true, I think this set is compressed on 7 DVD-5. The quality on this set could very well be equal to the endorforest set, and that set is according to a lot of people not very good. But it could also be the best set out there. 100 bucks is a lot of money on one set. I am not in a hurry to get the definitive collection on DVD, but when I do, I want it to be a set with great quality. Until someone can make a totally uncompressed set we will always want more.

A really nice cover Rikter. I assume you've made a similar cover to ANH and RotJ? The one thing that I think is missing is a THX bar at the bottom of the front cover and a 20th century fox logo at the spine. Just a thought.

If you want someone to host it. Why don't you ask this guy? http://www.prillaman.net/starwarsdvd.html

Very cool menus indeed. But I will not pay anyone anything for a bootleg unless it is dual layered (or one movie on two discs) and anamorphic. I don't want to buy this version now and then have to buy it again because there's a better one out there. Hopefully someone will make an uncompressed set with all the extras. But that's way into the future.
