Wow, guys, I'm surprised at this uproar about the sales. Did you seriously expect anything else? I mean, it's STAR WARS on Blu-Ray ;-)

this

3 of my friends, who were all initially upset when they heard of the changes (or pretended to be), went ahead and bought the box set anyways for this exact reason.

At this point, I am resigned to the fact that we may never see the OOT in HD and there's nothing we can do about it, but as others have already said, when George wants to do the inevitable double dip in a year or two we may get them as a special feature (I doubt it). Here's hoping.

It is such a strange feeling I have today. Remembering how excited I was just a few weeks ago, knowing the long wait for the latest version of Star Wars is over and it is finally going to be released in glorious hi def blu-ray format, and yet the day is here and I have no desire to buy it. To wait for something for so long, then a few weeks before the day arrives something goes horribly wrong and just ruins the whole thing, like someone popped my balloon.

I just finished reading through the entire thread...

You must have the stamina of a Jedi ;-)

I have a lot of time on my hands @ work ;-)

Honestly, everything was just too funny to skip ahead, half the hilarity was watching the clips that didn't work or were in their infancy. I can't wait to show this to my buddies @ our next SW marathon next year.

I just finished reading through the entire thread and I have to say, this is amazing work. Holy shit I laughed so hard so many times over the past 2 days reading and watching all the clips, to the point where my sides were in pain. HUGE PROPS to Frink and everyone else who has contributed, great job and I cannot wait to see the finish movie!

Every year my friends and I have our annual Star Wars Beerfest Marathon and we try to find something funny and unique to do every year. Without a doubt (unless it is not finished in time, though I may postpone the SWBF just for this) this is going to be seen as our opening movie in place of TPM, which will actually be a relief since we dread having to sit thru the prequels (all we do is drink and bash them anyways).

Again, words can't begin to describe how awesome this is. Outstanding work all!!!

One added joke, suggested by Ripplin. It's so....obvious....I can't believe I missed it.

PS: One small suggestion: After Obi Wan's "Take Off" maybe Olie can say "you catch on pretty quick" again.

Someone hold me back from jumping out a window.  I dare you to check out the official SW Facebook page.  Here's one post:

Why are some of you guys mad about the original trilogy being editted? I mean, it's not like they were so awesome or anything... I personally prefer the new trilogy, since they're newer and have more action in them, and i'd like the originals to be reeditted and made just as awesome. I've watched the uneditted versions of the originals, and frankly i didn't like them at all, but maybe that's cuz my generation don't like movies that were made in the 70s.

They're not joking. -_-

Oh, and I proudly replied with.

Your post makes me shudder. I'm 18 and I prefer the OOT over anything else big time. If you prefer the Prequels' CGI action scenes over the emotion of the OT, then I'm sorry. I like the prequels too, but to say they're better than the originals is just... yikes.

STOP LIKING WHAT I DON'T LIKE

I enjoy the Prequels as well.

You're in for a treat if you and your friends have never seen Revisited.  Some of the changes I would remove if I had the talent, but the movie has never looked or sounded so good.  It really made me feel like I was watching it for the first time again.

One of my friends brought copies of the GOUT he downloaded and burned for all of us, so we all watched the prequels followed the GOUT versions. Man, it had been years since I saw it, and to be perfectly honest, I was expecting them to look WAY worse than they did (I never bought them when they were released in '06 because of how bad everyone said they looked).

You might want to consider seeing Harmy's version.  It's amazing to see the original trilogy, without all the new crap, in HD and looking sharp like the day it first appeared on the big screen.  I nearly cried, it was like being in the theater in 1977 all over again.

I will, I plan on watching Harmy's along w/ Dark Jedi's versions to begin with.

4 of my friends (all die hards) and I have a Star Wars movie marathon/eating and drinking fest every year. Next year's was supposed to be the big ZOMG STAR WARS ON BLU RAY!!!! fest, well, not anymore. Of the 5 of us, all 5 of us were planning on buying the BR set, and now none are buying it. The "No NOOoooo" scene killed it for all of us.

BTW, thanks to everyone who pointed me in the right direction of the fan edits/restoration projects.

I am totally looking forward to watching all these restorations and fanedits  as I can and sharing them w/ my less comp savvy friends.

The tide maybe turning......

One of my friends who was buying the set, and has never been bothered by the changes Lucas made to the OT movies.  I just played him a clip of the ROTJ change with Vader saying, "NOOO!" and he stood there in dead silence and then said, "Are you fucking kidding me?"   I asked him if he was still buying the set, and he said, "I'm definitely reconsidering."

Also wanted to add...

I used to post @ TF.N up until about 5 years ago, I left/lost interest after the last wave of dvds was released. I was a bit overwhelmed by all the backlash the OT got (and how unhappy I was when I finally saw it myself) that I couldnt' take it anymore. Thank the maker for this site.

doubleofive, thanks for the quick response! How do I find these? Please forgive my ignorance, I haven't really nosed around the other forums yet.

Star Wars coming to Blu Ray (UPDATE: August 30 2011, No! NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!)

I just joined this site after a few days of lurking as a guest...

I am at a complete loss when it comes to the NoNoooo! addition. I can live, reluctantly, with all the other changes, as cringe inducing as they may be, but to alter the climax is, IMO, unforgivable. I am happy to find a site where many other share the same opinion.

Lurking around, I have noticed all the different versions of fan edits and I have to say I am mostly relieved that there are better ways to see the unmolested OT than the GOUT. My question is, which version would be considered superior and what is the best way to go about getting them?

Thanks in advance and I'm glad to be here.
