PLEASE buy the Blu-rays if you plan on watching the Despecialized Editions. Do NOT support piracy.

Getting the Harmy despeshalized versions on MySpleen is the legit way to get true unaltered versions and they look great even if I use windows media player on my PC and my PC isn't exactily a top of the line machine. MySpleen doesn't exactily support piracy, I think that's why they have the invite system. I got my despeshalized editions through MySpleen. It's if you get it through pirate bay without buying the blu ray versions is the non legit possibly ilegal way.

Please don't go down the MySpleen path! I tried to get 'invited' to MySpleen with no luck so far. I and many others that want theatrical classic starwars on DVD or blu ray want easy access to them. A website dedicated to distributing them via download file so that we can just go to the website and download it to burn to a blank DVD or possibly blank blu ray disks.

I hate the invite system for the MySpleen access to the unaltered starwars 4-6. I honestly don't see the point. We shouldnt have to get invited to a forum. I'm still awaiting my invite to MySpleen. A forum site should have an open registration and open access to the original Star Wars unaltered. Can someone explain WHY the heck we need to be invited to get unaltered Star Wars 4-6? It's annoying because it seems like the site owners are trying to be supirior because they are the only access to unaltered Star Wars. I would try Pirate Bay but I don't really trust it and they have a few negitive comments on the unaltered Star Wars 4-6 saying video quality is sub par compared to the MySpeen versions.

This is not the thread for discussing this.  Off-topic has the myspleen invite thread.  And your assumptions about superiority are incorrect.  Please use the newsgroups to obtain what you're looking for if you need it now, otherwise please don't clutter up this thread with this issue.  Thanks.

Sorry my bad. Won't happen again. I got my invite so it's all good now. I'm now downloading empire strikes back after getting a new hope.

I'm never buying the altered editions. Harmy's despeshalized editions are the way to go for now. They made so many DVD releases since 2004 I kinda lost track and stopped caring. I think these DVD re releases are a lucas attempt at trying to trick people to buy altered versions. I've seen a few DVD releases claiming to be 'origonal versions' but weren't unaltered. Even the Blu Ray release by Disney turned out to be altered. Also these DVD re releases are a bit over priced. Some can go for 20 to 30 bucks just for altered episode 4 alone at some places. My friend got lucky and found the special editions of 4-6 on DVD for $10 and I just watched them at his house so I don't have to buy them to see the changes.

I hope George Lucas realizes that the true fans don't want altered Star Wars 4-6. They really should release an ultimate box set that has episodes 1-3 and 4-6 with theatrical unaltered versions as a bonus option and include DVD, Blu Ray, 3D and digital download copies.

Good to know the theatrical reels are out there somewhere before Lucas was trying to do everything he can to soil them with altered content. If you think about it us fans have become kind of like rebels and Lucas has started to become like the empire when it comes to us trying to get our hands on unaltered Star Wars 4-6. Hope the restore goes well and I wish you guys the best of luck with the project.

Does Anyone know if there are any surviving theater film reels of star wars 4-6 that still exist out there? I don’t really know how theaters handle old film reels but if any should have been preserved it should  be classic theater versions of star wars 4-6. I imagine collectors and hardcore fans sometimes get their hands on old film reels from theatrical releases.

Has anyone ever got their hands on original theatrical 4-6 star wars film reels? If someone out there does have them they should do what they can to transfer it to DVD or post safe easy access to downloading it online putting to rest the debate of theatrical vs. re released versions. I had VHS versions from 1997 (which are the closest things I had to unaltered) and compared it to the DVD versions my friend got and there are noticeable changes in the DVD edit versions. Like people say Star Wars 4-6 went from a 5 star movie (original theatrical version) to a 4 star movie (1997 VHS) to a 3 star movie (current DVD edit)

Harmy's STAR WARS Despecialized Edition HD - V2.7 - MKV (Released)

This IS needed. Thanks for doing this Harmy. I'm still waiting on an invite from walkingdork who is an administrator at myspleen.com. I despise what George Lucas has done to my favorite  movie that is/was star wars. releasing star wars 4-6 on DVD and calling it a 'special edition' with all these mediocre edits is an insult to the fans. I just hope George Lucas realizes this before its to late. The closest I got to seeing an unaltered star wars 4-6 was the 1997 VHS versions I had back when I was 10 or so. I wish I still had them. If I knew George Lucas was going to screw us out of a DVD theatrical release I would have kept them and bought a new VCR (my old VCR broke long ago)

George Lucas seems to be one of those old guys now who thinks people who watch star wars are little kids who don't care about how the films should be and care more about bad editing and stupid jokes. I even heard George Lucas is refusing to release unaltered star wars because he wanted to release 'his version' instead as soon as DVDs became available and the popular format making the altered star wars the dominant version. I guess there's no hope of an official unaltered star wars release coming out unless George Lucas passes away of old age or whatever leaving it up to Disney to try when that time comes.
