And take off your fucking neck-fat blinders, OF COURSE there are many people who hate Jar Jar. I don't care if you like him or not, but you're a liar if you claim he wasn't and isn't almost universally despised. The Ewoks look like fucking Shaft in comparison.

'Kay, but I hope you realize that means you think that 95% of the Star Wars fan community and most of the general movie viewing public are "punchlines". To imply that there was not an unprecendented amount of backlash from fans and the general public in regards to Jar Jar is revisionist history.

But yeah die hard fans will appreciate Jar-Jar more than others.

You mean die-hard LUCAS fans will appreciate him more. Die-hard STAR WARS fans are the most vocal in expressing their distaste for Jar Jar's antics.

Remember when...
Time
I remember when each new Star Wars movie meant a new piece of sexy technology for us to salivate over. The first day of school, Fall 1983, the only thing we talked about was how much we wanted speeder bikes. LOL

Sadly, the prequels ruined this tradition by introuducing new ships and tech that were either totally fugly or derivative. Nowhere in the prequels is there anything as cool as the Tanative IV, the Death Star, the Millenium Falcon, the AT-ATs, the AT-STs, the speeder bikes, etc. The best we get are castrated yellow TIE Fighters.

Same thing happened at Celebration II when Anthony Daniels asked the crowd if they really hated Jar-Jar and a few people cheered, then he asked who really really loved Jar-Jar and just about everyone burst into applause.

That's because most of the people who go to those "Celebration" shindigs have Lucas' dick in their mouths. Face it man, normal people just don't like Jar Jar. That's why he showed up on the Colbert Report in the first place, he's a punchline.

POLL: Which version of the OT do you own?
Time
I own the pan and scan "Faces" VHS, and the 06' DVDs. I prefer the Empire and Jedi DVDs to their video counterparts, but for now I'm sticking with my VHS copy of Star Wars. The ghosting and aliasing on the DVD is horrendous. It's no better on the VHS, but at least it's less noticeable.

Although, it's pretty sad that I have to choose between "shit #1" and "shit #2" at all when Lucasfilm could have simply done a little fixer-upper on the OT and everyone would have been happy.

Agreed! This is another thing that bothers me and leads me to believe the prequels should never have been made; future generations, assuming they watch "The Saga" as Lucas so desperately wants, will be robbed of some of the the greatest scenes of the original trilogy, "I am your father", Jabba's reveal, "Leia's my sister", etc. Stuff that as a kid was amazing and totally engrossing will seem pedestrian and repetitive to future generations. Which I think is really, really sad.

ROTJ is my least favorite, but I do love it. It drags a little, and whilst SW and ESB were nonstop action, ROTJ doesn't have that feeling. And the whole part at Jabba's palace is just....ugh...

Funny thing is, back in the day, ROTJ was considered the most action packed of the series (Or at least among my friends and I). I mean, the entire second half of the movie is one big battle/chase.

And I remember everyone loving the scenes in Jabba's palace as well, 'cause after the first two movies hyping this guy, he totally lived up to all of our expectations. Totally ruthless and disgusting, ruling over all of Tatooine's scum and villiany. I'll never forget the first time they showed Jabba on the big screen, almost every kid in the theater shouted "Woah!"

Super ESB and ROTJ SNES Video Review
Time
Oh man, I had all three of these back in the day and they were so fucking hard. Especially ESB, I never even got past the first level. ROTJ had the sweet speeder level though.

Although, as someone else mentioned, TIE Fighter is still my favorite Star wars game. The Battlefront games were cool too, but there was too much crap from the prequels in them. We get Aayla Secura as a hero, a character who had ZERO lines in the movies she appeared in, but not Lando? Lame. Hopefully next year's Battlefront III will be better.

It's a toss-up between "Star Wars" and "Return of the Jedi" for me. I think SW is a lot more fun and it is still my favorite movie to just pop in and watch on a rainy day, but Jedi I think does an excellent job of tying up all the loose ends in the trilogy, even if some of them are a little less satisfying then some would have hoped. Still, it's got the best space battle ever filmed, and IMO the Luke/Vader confrontation is the highlight of the entire series. I have a great deal of love for Empire as well, but the other two just resonate with me more.

This is my first post here, and I just wanna say I LOVE the site. I was a lurker at TF.net for a while, so it's nice to know that I'm not the only one who gets disgusted when people rank "Revenge of the Shit" at or above the OT.
