• Moved scene where the Emperor talks to General Pryde before Kylo’s scene with Han
• Kylo is redeemed and becomes one with the force after his father asks him to come home

• Luke does not appear to Rey from out of the fire but comes down the steps. He stares at Rey, still a bit shocked from what she did. When Rey sees him, she looks down in shame.

• The Emperor’s line changes from “She will strike me down and pledge herself as a Sith” to just “She will pledge herself as a Sith”

This results in him just dodging her hits and staying on the defensive. The one time he falls down now, he breaks his fall with the force, showing us that he could have easily beaten her if he wanted to. This changed scene now also implies that if he had attacked her, he would have probably driven her away even more causing her to join Kylo later when he offers Rey to come to his side. Her refusal to do so has more meaning now.
• When Poe asks Admiral Holdo, if she has a plan, it now seems like she gives in an is going to tell him what the mission is. When they leave her alone on the cruiser and Poe leaves with the transport ships, it looks like they are working together.
• NEW To showcase that they are indeed working together there is a montage with a voice-over explaining the escape plan to Crait to Poe and the audience.
• The reveal that Rose is Paige’s sister comes much later in the last act on Crait when she touches the second half of the medallion as she is flying towards the large cannon, creating a better connection/contrast to the beginning of the movie. Her sister died in battle, she survives.
• NEW Now the Millennium Falcon enters the battle on Crait gracefully and with style. The first thing we see is it’s shadow and not an exaggerated triple kill shot
• When Poe tells Finn to pull back, it now looks like he is following his order
• Luke makes his last stand with a green light saber instead of the blue one making the reveal, that he is not really there, more surprising.
• The movie ends with Luke surviving and looking out at the sunset, coming full circle. He looked at it as a baby in “Revenge of the Sith”, as a young man in “A New Hope” and finally as an old Jedi Master.
• NEW When Luke stares at the sunset for the first time there was a small black dot that was removed to avoid the misconception that he is staring at something small in front of the sun
• Color grading of the whole movie (greenish/yellow tint removed and more color vibrance)

Same here - a shame as there are some intriguing things you have listed in your Change List - though that mocking of Rian Johnson didn’t help in your trailer, either. Feel free to disagree with him, state why, and make as much of an Edit you’d have preferred it to be with whatever footage there is etc - yet this repeated ‘no… no… no…’ mimic thing… it’s a ‘no…’ for me.

That said, there’ll no doubt be people who will like it. An you’ve obviously put some time and energy into it, whilst making some bold decisions - good luck.
 

Thanks for the comment oojason! Rian Johnson is the reason, why I decided to make my first fan edit so yeah you can say that I strongly disagree with a lot of his decisions not only regarding STAR WARS but movie making in general, which is a shame because I liked his work on Breaking Bad.

Of course I realize my decisions for this fanedit are not gonna please everybody but nevertheless I stand by them 😉

STAR WARS: Last Jedi (The Anti-Cringe-Cut)

This movie was a mess! It managed to subvert fan expectations in the worst way. With it’s pointless twists and turns, unnecessary side plots, some ridiculous character moments and cringe-worthy dialogue it quickly buried my faith in the new STAR WARS franchise. But Episode 8 was not all bad so a spark of hope remained… Maybe with some cuts here and there, it could be possible to redeem this movie. So I did exactly that! I proudly present my first Anti-Cringe-Cut with the following cut-list:
