What’s important to realize, is that mostly post-Little Mermaid films were created digitally in 2k format. While 4k might have better colors, any resolution increase is an upscale.

It’s the old hand drawn movies that really need the 4k scans.

2008 and rather ancient and by this point.

There has been a number of blu ray copies over the years. That is putting it mildly. They keep reissuing older dated transfers.

The technirama version in 4K is what I want to see. With no DNR. HDR grading and all of that.

Checking Blu-ray.com it seems like they’ve just been repacking the 2008 Diamond Edition.
It’s a shame. After the great Cinderella and Snow White 4k releases, they just seemed to have stopped restoring their classics.

I can’t prove it, but I swore I read when George Lucas sold his company to Disney, not releasing the original cuts was a condition.
Maybe that’s true, but there was an expiration on it. Dunno.

It was also 3D at 48fps. I recall a lot of people hated how it looked… although I’d love to see it as well.

As of yet, I don’t think any new releases are improvements outside of the 4k versions of Snow White and Cinderella.

I don’t believe any other ink and paint animation have had new transfers. Pre-4k CG is just upscaled maybe with some HDR color improvements. Anything recent has a 4k source, so I don’t believe any are badly messed up (except maybe Incredibles 2, but that’s Pixar).
I’ve yet to find any reason to make an update to the first posts.

I’m confused. The movie was still released before the final comic so the endings didn’t match up.
Also, there was an animated short that filled in a missing segment from the comics. Be nice to see that edited in to the movie.

I did find the Disney+ download to be 4.54 GB, but audio track is identical to what Class316 posted (AAC 2.0 at 125kbps). That said, the Blu-ray is Dolby Digital 1.0 at 96kbps. Reminds me of their crappy Darby O’Gill audio track.

Crap. Found my tapes and discovered I did record in EP. Even though they are TDK EHG cassettes, that’s not ideal.
Will see how they come out when copied to DVD though.

I’ll see what I can do. Right now my best method is good quality JVC VCR to a Philips DVR with DVD burner. Recording at high bitrate (1 hour to a single DVD-RW) and then rip with the PC. Of course if all you want is the subs, I can put several episodes to a disc.

Any particular episodes or all of them?

Are you requesting the captions? I can probably easily rip them, but not the episodes in good quality and I don’t have time to sync and delete any subtitles from the commercials.

I recorded it from my cable provdier when it originally aired on Fox. They are SP. The first episode is missing the first minute, I believe the last was so bad I had to make a replacement copy from someone else’s recording and it looks it.

Two episodes didn’t air in the U.S. and I received them by mail from a Canadian fan. So not perfect.

Finally started watching this tonight (only took more than a year). I’m curious if you have the subtitles in English or at least .SRT so I can do a software translation from Bosnian(?) to English.

Yeah, YouTube only has their own content in multichannel. Everything else is automatically downconverted to stereo. I doubt it’s worth trying to upmix it again.

What do you mean?

That you’ve worked really hard for a great way of listening to the Potter books and now a commercial high budget version is going to come out.
Maybe yours will be better just because of your efforts plus movie, video games and Stephen Fry, but it’ll definitely become less sought after.

My complaint is, while fake grain seems more natural, if it wasn’t there before you add it, you are just destroying more detail that wasn’t scrubbed out of the film with the grain.

I copied it to a network HDD dock and took a look at it… and I hate to be the first to complain about this amazing piece of work, but it looks like the grain was scrubbed and then fake grain was added.
Was that the 4k source or am I hallucinating?
