Leave the f-word in the gutter and let's get to the point: Is all you care about in a movie the over-all story? What about the characters (some movie characters are so cool that you grow fond of them, even though the story sucks) and certain moments that make a movie special? I prefer character-driven stories, where the story evolves around them, not vice versa.

Take "Lost in Translation", for instance. If you watch it primarily for the story, you'll probably get pretty bored. But if you watch it with a focus on the characters, you'll fall in love with the movie instantly.

Plus many movies I like have no CGI.

Aliens
CGI aside, "Aliens" for example was ENHANCED (the scenes were "expanded", more material was added, you're getting a deeper look into the characters: Ripley, Newt, Hicks) -- it wasn't ALTERED in any way (i.e. no change of the already existing material: lines, music score, etc.).

THAT's the difference and the reason why many SW fans reject the SE.

As for colorization: Well, everthing's been said. When you colorize a movie, you alter it, you don't enhance it.

Movies that have never been released in original form on DVD

@ Lord Peeler

First of all, what's wrong with having an oppinion that differs from yours? You say you don't care what we want. Hmm, well, you have sure put a hell lot of energy into telling us so.

Then the SEs came out, and Star Wars fans slowly and surely where replaced
They were not "replaced", oh greatest of all observers, a lot of them converted (so to speak). We're still the same, we just don't agree with the likes of you anymore.

The world is big enough for various points of view. Who are you to condemn people who don't like the SE (for obvious reasons)? I didn't like them all that much, either, still I don't run around and criticize those who did.

This forum was made by AND for people who prefer the original version to the special edition. It's a "shelter", it was created for this one purpose, and therefore we have the right to post here from that particular point of view. And it's getting annoying to be forced over and over again to justify that POV. That's not the purpose of this forum.

You don't invade a Democratic election campaign office and tell them that Republican politics are the only true way to go, now do you?

Sorry, but that's a movie I would NOT recommend. I live in Austria, and that sickening, corny "ahhh, the hills are alive and we all dress like that and live happy lives in this beautiful nature country"-point-of-view of what Americans think all of Austria looks like is just rediculous.

Besides, only Americans and Brits consider that a "classic movie". It's definitely not a classic in non-English speaking countries. (no offense there!!! ... just a fact) I hadn't heard of it, until I happened to have a British girlfriend who forced me to watch it. *lol*

Horrible, horrible movie (bad music, too).

Then what are you doing in this forum?

and you give us all a bad name.
What gives YOU a bad name are your manners, mister. You sound like a frustrated jerk who doesn't have a life of his own and gets a kick out of it to treat others like sh*t. Leave, if we all "ruin it" for you. Who's the whiner now? You do sound like one.

And yes, I do have a right to talk to you like that, this isn't about who's more mature then who, its about giving George the respect he deserves.
Well, he definitely deserves more respect than you do, because he knows how to talk to strangers: respectfully. Believe it or not, we do respect George Lucas, we just don't agree with his decision not to release the original version. If that makes you all-so-mad and whiny, leave. Nobody invited you over.

So shut your traps, you only have 50,000 out of 235,000,000 Americans, and 7 Billion world citizens, who are all potential Star wars Fans, it will get you...nowhere....period.
Oh? So, let's say, if a minority of people gets killed, that doesn't count either?

Get a therapy. Your aggressions sure don't sound healthy.

(Re: SW games) I, too, think that "Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic" is one of the BEST computer games ever! Haven't played any other SW games, though.

Neither does the Prequals or the Special Editions. Attack of the Clones is the best movie ever.
You gotta be kidding. It had potential up to the middle of the movie, but then it turned into just another of those boring SFX flicks with no substance. And Hayden, as gorgeous as he is, definitely isn't a great actor.
