I just downloaded 1.6. Is it supposed to look as grainy as it does? Not that I have a problem with it, but I guess I didn’t realize how “raw” the SSE would look. 😛

I guess this is just a note to anyone else trying to download. I think the DE will give you much better quality. Perhaps this is obvious to most others but I wasn’t sure what to expect.

Yes, the idea is to have a version of the film that looks like an theatrical release print, therefore no (or only very minor) noise reduction has been applied.

Just curious if anyone is working on a 4.1 channel audio for this?

Harry-Hen created a 5.1 track that emulates the 6 channel surround. You can find that and mux it in, as they’re both GOUT synced. Not one has made a 4.1 track, most likely since it’s not that common. (I do realize that the 6 track is essentially 4.1/4.2)

Okay so v1.6 is GOUT synced? I remember that v1 wasn’t.

Yes, it is.

^ I’d have included the 5.1 for that reason. Adding it is probably the biggest single reason why people remux.

The second biggest reason is probably wanting to add another dub. At least it’s the reason why I am going to do it. Would love to just burn this to disc as it is but without the German dub I can’t watch this with my family.

Are there still any plans to release 2.7 with the ANH crawl?

I sure as shit hope not.

I never got this attitude. No one bitches about the sequels having a subtitle, it’s been there since 1981 before the original trilogy was even completed–let alone the special edition–and Lucas actually did always intend it to be there,

Sorry for Off-Topic but is this really true? Because dialoge about Anakin in SW makes it quite clear that at this point Vader was not supposed to be Luke’s father.

Take the example of the film Gladiator:

Is your example from the remastered BD or the previous one? The former has color-timing that is noticeably different from the latter, which matches previous home-video releases and the HDTV broadcasts. I’m just curious as to which you chose.

So if I was to buy the movie, I’d want the older, non-remastered BD?

God no, it’s one of the worst BDs out there with arrows erased by automatic dirt removal.

Ah, I see. Yeah, I wouldn’t like that either. Okay, I’m now inclined to do native subs for German (and other languages in the same situation), unless I find complications.

Great 😃

On the subject of SDH (Hard of Hearing) subtitles, if anyone wants to make SDH subtitles for other languages, I’d be happy to include them. You could use the regular subtitles as a starting point, and use the English SDH subtitles for an example for the SDH cues. It could match the German dub verbatim. Of course, this wouldn’t make as much sense for languages with multiple dubs (e.g. Japanese), but even then there’s often a favorite.

Usually that’s the kind of task I love to do but now I have a baby at home and therefore not enough time for something that extensive.
