New Direction For The Petition
Time
I absolutely think we need a new petition, one that specically states we want a new remastering done with the same level of care the 2004 DVD's got (but with proper colors this time) on Blu-Ray. We could also petition for a remastered DVD, but by the time we have enough signatures and get enough notice, Blu-Ray will be in full-steam. I also think what we need to do is get this petition out to those besides George; once its got tons of signatures like the old one did, it should be forwarded to various media outlets and DVD sites and such, so that the media starts putting pressure on George too. If we decide to do a new petition, we should really get the word about it out there, as wide as possible.

2006 DVD OOT
Time
When I first got the GOUT DVD's, I absolutely loved them. I also only had a 27" 4x3 TV, and on that TV, they looked dated, yes, but perfectly servicable. We recently got a new 32" HDTV, and now....I don't love them. They look okay, I guess, but there's lots of noise on the image, ghosting, grain, not nearly enough fine detail, and the whole image is just soft. An anamorphic transfer, even without a lick of remastering would have fixed many of these problems. Zombie84 said it best; Lucasfilm held up a bold middle-finger to all the fans who campaigned for these DVD's for so long. Lucas could use the money in his pocket to pay for a remastering of these, and he's too much of a self-absorbed douche-bag to do so.

Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End
Time
I think critics are just being stupid. Confusing plot? Makes no sense? Can't follow it? Wow, I must be Einstein or something, cause I didn't have any trouble following it. Johnny Depp said something pretty relevant about the reviews of the sequels in an interview a few weeks ago that, because the sequels will do so well, critics are bound and determined to pound them. He said something like "It's in the rules: You must take a dump on the sequel."

Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End
Time
I saw it Wednesday Night at a Press Screening, and I have to say it was excellent. The plot is much more complex then in the other two films, but in a very good way. I don't want to spoil anything, but I'll just say the whole movie was a thrill ride that never stopped, much like the other two. It's better than Dead Man's Chest, and is certainly as competent a film as Curse of the Black Pearl, but I will always like COTBP more because of its sheer rewatchability. At World's End is great, but not as rewatchable as the other two due to its mostly plot driven feel.

Blu-ray (or HD-DVD) questions
Time
I have an Xbox 360, and I'm planning on getting the HD-DVD add on drive soon. I've never seen picture on either format, but reading about them, I definately prefer HD-DVD. They've got all the In-Movie-Experience Features, and my something I perticularly like, the HD-DVD/DVD combo format. That's really cool, because I can have one disc to play in all players in my house. One side is HD, one side is Standard Def. It pushes the price up a little bit, but it is a cool little feature for the discs that support it.

I'd like to have a player for both formats, but I doubt I'll have enough money any time soon to get any sort of Blu-Ray player. I'm glad I already have a 360 so I can get the relatively cheap HD-DVD add on drive.

Pokemon Diamond/Pearl
Time
The Pokemon games are actually my favorite games, and I picked up Diamond the day it came out. I haven't had much time to play it, so I've only got 4 badges, but I really like this one. It's not as good as Ruby and Sapphire, and the game is a bit too linear this time, but it's fun and the gameplay is at its best. It seems like this series was always on the DS.

Marvel Super Heroes

You ever going to frickin leave? I mean, I don't have a personal problem with you, but GEEZ!!! If you say you're going to leave, leave. And if you're planning on coming back one day, say you might come back. Leave the possibility on the table. I left once, for a few weeks, but in my goodbye post (which I didn't make a new thread for) I said I might come back. You are one annoying kid.

Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer
Time
I absolutely HATED the first one. It's up there with Batman and Robin in my mind, seriously. The only action in the entire movie was in the last twenty minutes, and the rest of the movie was like a really, REALLY bad sitcom. I half expected a campy rip off of the Happy Days theme song to come in at the middle. I mean, there was an hour and a half there where it was just them sitting around in thier apartment, or being out in the city, "discovering" thier powers, in the most boring way possible. On top of that, the acting just sucked. Jessica Alba is hot, but she can't act. At all. Ioan Gruffard was just atrocious as Mr. Fantastic, but the funny thing is, I've seen him in other films where he was really good. Whoever played the Human Torch matched Jessica Alba in terms of acting quality. Jeez, he was cheesy as all hell, but thought he was really cool. It was painful to watch. And whoever played Dr. Doom acted it so flat that there was absolutely no sense of threat in the villain. However, I thought that Michael Chiklis played the Thing perfectly. He was great. Sadly, the body suit looked really, really fakey; I laughed when I first saw him because it looked so fake. CGI wouldn't have killed them, right? It wouldn't have looked perfect, but it would have looked better then the body suit and would give the character an other-worldly appearance he needed. Plus, the special effects were awful. Every time Mr. Fantastic stretched his arm, it looked....well, like a piece of CGI rubber. Not even real rubber. CGI rubber.

But the second film looks like it could be good. The first film I only saw because I was sent to the press screening for my paper, but I might actually check this one out on my own. It looks pretty good, though every time the Human Torch has a line in the trailer, I cringe.

Horriffic Violence Theater
Time
Thanks for the comments! I kind of had to hit the ground running with this season, without time to break, and so the animation suffered a bit. Plus, my one assistant, Jim Bob Billy, could only animate three out of the sixty five chapters. Since I'll have all summer to work on this next season, I'm going to try and up the animation quality. I think for the joke to work, it has to look at least a little bit crappy, but I'm definately going to put in more detail, and I'll probably put in more frames. There will also be some interactive stuff during the episodes next season that I'm excited about.

Horriffic Violence Theater
Time
Well, season one finished on May 1st, to anyone who is interested. Here's a link to my channel, where you can access the whole season. Season Two will start this fall on YouTube.

And you all thought I'd never make it past episode three.

Even if you don't like the show, please check out Episode Twelve, which has a video introduction by Joe Bob Billy, creator of the show (he's me, actually) Anyone interested in Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip should also check out my mildly popular video discussing its return on May 24th. We'll find out wheather or not it was cancelled tomorrow (Monday) so it will be obsolete tomorrow, but people seem to like the video.

LOST
Time
Tonight's episode was....wow....just wow. This is Lost at its best. Whenever the creators throw in the stuff that connects dozens of episodes, my jaw just drops. It's almost too intricate to believe. I gasped when Locke was shot---that was riveting and shocking. When Ben started mutering about being smart enough to stay out of that ditch, I knew something was coming, but that was still very, very shocking. And seeing the Dharma Initiative in its prime was amazing. Who's this Jacob, too? Whatever the case, this is shaping up to be one hell of a finale. I love it when this show does that; uses the last few episodes before the finale to shape up to something really, really big, and then actually pays it off. Let's hope season 3 can do the same.

The Now-Released Spider-Man 3 Thread
Time
The first time I saw it, at a press screening (I write for the Denver Post's Colorado Kids) I had mixed feelings about it. Then I went to see it again on Saturday, and liked it a million times more. It could be my favorite in the series. It's such a deep, multi-layered movie, and never drags or feels gimmicky. Having never read the comics, the minimal appearance of Venom didn't bother me. I just love this movie, and its such a perfect ending to the series. I hope they don't make a fourth one, because I don't want them to spoil the ending.

I agree. Al Gore is nothing but a hypocrite. His 90 minute power point made millions (that's millions in his own pocket) and if he really wanted to save the enviroment, he'd have donated every last cent of the gross to Global Warming research, and demanded the tickets be printed on recycled paper. Plus, his house uses the same amount of electricity as a block of a suburban neighborhood. His exuse? He uses wind power. Guess what? Those giant wind generators kill thousands of birds.
