If you removed the awful sandpeople murder, that would be a step in the right direction.
Maybe this is just me being desperate, but what if I explain in a narration that there was an unsuccessful Rebel attack on the Death Star. That way I can keep the Death Star damaged, and maybe in this attack, the Emperor might trick them into thinking the laser was damaged and not operational, so that this would be their only chance to attack it. Also, that would mean the Emperor wouldn’t there for shits and giggles, he’s there to boost morale while the Death Star is repaired.
Maybe just replace all shots of the completed first DS with shots of the second DS. It wouldn’t make a huge difference story wise.
I think this concept is a very interesting idea. I really liked your Luke vs Vader edit, and I think you can pull this off
A few questions:
In the original, Luke gets furious after Vader threatens to turn Leia to the dark side, and attacks him. How will this be handled in this edit if they are not siblings?
Who’s gonna blow up the Death Star in this edit, Luke or Lando?
Overall, I’m very excited and definitely want to see this get made

I considered both cutting the celebration, and using the Endor scene, and an early version did both, but the Endor scene really doesn’t feel like an intro, it feels like it’s in the middle of a movie. And the celebration, I’m still a little on the fence. I like the scene and feel like it wraps stuff up, but it also feels like extra stuff.
Maybe just shorten the celebration like Spence did. Just have one shot panning down from the fireworks, then cut to Vader’s funeral
I prefer JasonN’s fanedits. He removed most of the bad acting and dumb subplots, and they still feel like complete movies
His edit is also the only one that removes that godawful Sandpeople subplot.
I think the worst idea would be if someone added the Imperial March to Jar Jar’s speech at the Senate

I’d love to see an edit of Star Wars : Attack of the Clones that removes the awful sandpeople subplot. I’ve always seen this plot point as useless to the series and Anakin becoming Darth Vader. I thought he was supposed to be a good guy that became evil? Anakin killing them just makes it look like he was never good and was evil from the beginning

It was a pretty solid film overall and had a lot of good ideas but the pacing was so slow at the beginning. If I did an edit, I’d just make it fast paced and more intense
Also, I’d add an opening crawl after the opening scene and remove the title card
How would you decide to transition between the flashback and the present with the title card gone.
I’d have the movie open with the flashback and then have the title scroll. It’d then pan down to a shot of the imperial planet, and then transition to Jyn’s first scene
I’d also add more John Williams music throughout the film

This change would be useful in a "3 in 1" edit of the OT for a better narrative but if you kept the movies separate, I don't see how it would improve anything
