The Batman: It Should've been Noir
Time

Hey All ya fine folks 😃 this would be my first technical post on here to any degree and to be honest the courage to do this has come from being a part of this community and seeing all the wonderful stuff put out and the ready encouragement from the community.

This, along with the Exorcist will be a two movie set i am re-editing to be B&W in the vein of Logan, Dracula and the Wolfman, i am brand new to basically all forms of editing and upscaling and this has been a very large learning curve switching between Premiere Pro and DaVInci Resolve.

there are no story cuts or shot rearrangement on my part as i feel the film as a whole is very close to what i was expecting. Audio is going to be Normalized and cleaned up via Audacity, as well as Re-encoded to Opus. my TV Doesnt have DTS/HD support which is why the conversion is necessary.

I’ve managed to get these stills and the V1 is being encoded and downscaled from 4K to 1080p due to storage limitations.
All editing is now being done through APP due to its ease of use.

I Will Post the Pastebin once it is complete for anyone thats interested. this is a learning exercise, but also a labour of love and i would absolutely welcome any and all advice and Criticism to help me improve. also tell me what you think of the movie as a whole 😃
i Have had severe artifacting and compression issues when exporting from APP via H.264 when matching source settings or changing anything including rendering maximum bit depth etc. any help there would be really appreciated. otherwise itll be a Topaz job to denoise and deblock.

UPDATE 1: After an Initial bugged release that somehow made the extra audio tracks give an extra 2 and a Half hours of Screentime after remuxing them back together, which I still can’t replicate for the life of me, I had the idea to re-encode the TrueHD and DTS-HD tracks into Opus after normalization and cleanup through audacity on each individual channel, which has worked a treat and allowed me to be able to present you all with this, my V2 and less borked version of The Batman: Noir Edition. the only audio kept were the main two English tracks, due to size constraints. the V2 comes in at a very manageable 9.7GB, compared to the V1’s 30.98GB. V1 had a Momentary Sleep deprived release before i found my error and patched it up.
the pastebin is on reddit and will be dropped here too, anyone that wants to rehost or use it for their own purposes can, my user there is r/Darksyderz and I hope you enjoy what I’ve tried to accomplish ❤️

Update: V3 has been released and the Mega link has been updated. AAC Surround Sound conversions, Opus messed up and went Mono on the re encode.

Surprised you haven’t already found an edit you like before mine - there’s been dozens since 2014! But I can see what you mean, mine is one of the few 4-hour book accurate ones. Most people make 3 movies to 2 movies edits, or 3 movies to one short 2-3 hour movie, but there’s a nice middle ground in my opinion.

to be fairly honest, I saw the Tolkien edit back when it was pushed out, and just due to its state of release and some of the edits made, it felt like it could’ve been a lot more, and I dropped my search for a while after that due to nothing really catching my eye and the finding of Harmy’s Despecialized SW Trilogy lol. and to be perfectly honest, I really enjoyed this as a single movie. I finished it at 4am and I have to say I absolutely love it! its definitely my go to for a book accurate film. its what I was hoping and expecting the Tolkien Edit to be, and so much more. thank you again for all your hard work because you did a fantastic job. 😃
