Star Wars has felt "off" to me since 1980 (essay)
Time

100% Agree. It’s just not right seeing 3d landscapes stitched into a 70’s masterpiece shot in the desert. I’ve only just joined this group, but super keen to get hold of these new restorations for when my son is a little older. I think I watched Star Wars about 20 times by the time I was 6 or 7. My grandparents had it on VHS or something back in the 80’s and a big RGB projector!! I remember seeing Empire Strikes Back at the cinema when I was around 10. I’ve got to share that original experience with my now 3yr old when he’s a little older… cant wait!!

Hi everyone!
I only just discovered that there were actual 4k restorations of the original Star Wars Trilogy about a week ago! I saw a youtube video of Harmy explaining how he would like his son to be able to watch the original Star Wars movies in 4k without the additional 3d effects etc… and like a few others Ive seen posting here, I’m in the same boat! I’ve got a 3yr old and cannot wait until he’s a bit older to watch Star Wars for the first time. I’ve even tried to keep his eyes away from a lot of the cheap 3d animated children’s content. He growing up on all the old retro cartoons.

Anyways, like everyone here… I am super excited to see the passion behind those who have restored the original movies. I believe there are Harmy’s versions and also 4k77 Projects aswel. I’ve only been on the site 5 minutes, so I’ll poke around and hopefully get pointed in the right direction!

Amazing job guys!!! Well done!!
