Info Wanted: Anamorphic GOUT versions? Any with PCM sound?
Time

Ok,

I still need to check out Mother’s Pwnage edition.  I think it will be a great start.  I just wish he would have done Empire and Jedi too!

That said, has anyone converted the GOUT from the bonus disc to anamorphic and also added the PCM sound?

I think that would be the ideal version for the purists here.

Is there a similar released of Mother’s Pwnage edition for TESB and ROTJ?

Even without PCM, I would love to see those happen.

I have not been active here in a while but did try to search for an answer but could not find one.

Any help is appreciated.  I tried to make the GOUT anamorphic myself but got really bad jaggies…

Star Wars HD coming in November! All SIX movies!
Time
Hey guys,

I did not see a post here so I thought I would announce it.

All six Star Wars movies will be aired in HD on Cinemax this November.

Since DirecTV does not carry Cinemax HD, I will miss them UNLESS someone here can capture them! Please!!!!

Information:

The 14 hour (13h,45m) Marathon starts on Saturday, Nov11, with an "all-day" showing of all 6 episodes I-VI back to back, starting at Midnight. Then it starts over again at 1:50pm on Saturday, then again (and again) on Sunday. 4 times in a row! Saturday through Sunday, until Monday morning at around 7:30am.

- 12:00am, Nov11
- 1:50pm, Nov11
- 3:40am, Nov12
- 5:40pm, Nov12

Then they're breaking it into two segments, on 2 consecutive days:

I-III back to back: 5:15pm, Nov16

IV-VI back to back: 5:45pm, Nov17

Then we finally get the "order restored" version, with IV-VI, then I-III airing daily at noon, from Nov20-25.

Lastly, another daily run of I-VI in the 10pm time-slot, from Nov26-Dec01.

The only thing that really surprised me was that they had been saying that "Sith" was going to run first (it's been airing on HBO, but not at all on MAX yet), and then "order will be restored". But it looks like it's not going to play out that way. And why not focus on more airings with "order restored"? Luckily, with 4 Marathons in a row, you can jump in after the first 3 if you like. In any event, definitely something to look forward to.

The only remaining question will be, which eps will be OAR? Fingers crossed on that one.

Info Wanted: watching the Laserdiscs directly - how good do they look on a large tv?
Time
I owned many of the LDs. They look ok on large widescreen TVs or even front projectors.

However, there are versions released here that are MUCH better quality because their source is better (PAL vs NTSC).

You should grab Citizen's versions.

I watch them upscaled to 720p on my 119" screen and front projector and they look VERY good...almost official DVD quality.

Thanks Citizen! You know I have been dying to see your TESB set!

Your v2 sounds like it will also be VERY nice. Cannot wait to see that next year.

If someone has access to a.b.starwars, let me know and I will burn you a copy of the DL ISO so you can post it.

Just need ROTJ and I will finally have a quality version of the trilogy, thanks to Citizen!!!!

***The Official FAN CREATED DVD Reviews and Feedback Thread***
Time
I will go ahead and chime in.

I have seen probably 12-15 different versions of Star Wars on DVD. I preferred Gonzos for the longest time since it was one of the few anamorphic releases.

Now, mother's is good but I have to give the best overall review to Citizen. The sound and picture quality were stunning.

His ANH DVD is simply amazing. I have a very high end theater (119" 16:9 screen, 720p DLP HDFP, 7.1, transducers, etc) and his transfer looks almost as good as a anamorphic retail DVD. I also reviewed it on my 65" 16:9 HDTV and it looks incredible.

My brother did not believe me until I made him a copy. He called me up that night and was also thrilled with how nice it looked. He thought it was going to be like former releases....

I have waited YEARS for a quality set to be released and that day has finally arrived. Hurry up with TESB and ROTJ!!!

I welcome other releases but this one will be very hard to beat. Until we get the originals in HD somehow!

Oh, I cannot compare it to other releases on a 4:3 set, as all of my TVs are now 16:9. Sorry!
