Love my HTPC ;] plays all HD 720p, 1080p in 24p and watch BluRays via attached drive and PowerDVD. Simplez.

Harmy take all your time you need dude on the BluRays its not as if any of us havent seen these films before Lolz. But when there out I'll be 1st on the DL que :]

So to just get this strait, The only Bluray version of MadMax 2 available at the moment IS the definitive version of the movie which has all footage from ALL versions ausie R-18, Tv cut ect.

The only issue with it is the colour change from the dvd version to bluray.

So whats really needed is a collected effort for all the behind the scenes stuff and documentaries out there and put them on a disc or ideally a filmumentary ;]

As no doubt that when the 4th part-animated ( ...Yep :/ ) Max Movie comes out these will be getting an offical Bluray boxset remastered. Lets just hope they hear the fan comments from the last remaster then and make the wasteland more of a nuked up scorched dead land again.

Agree with Harmy, I can confirm I use DTS-HD with my surround sound system and DTS-HD will automatically downgrade itself to standard DTS core if played through a non DTS-HD system.

Going with your own feelings on the colouring tones for your work is defiantly best you can't break your efforts here with colour balancing its but the icing on a very sweet cake that I'd like a bit of :D

Damit Omen... Those comparisons look sooo good it's like you've pulled off the cheap blue sweet wrappers from the camera lens and gave it an natural ol'worldy 80's film look again.

I hear ya Omen, completely understand dissecting the fillms frame by frame and and the like plus the hours involved must take it's toll but your efforts are not going unnoticed keep in there once there out I bet you'll find it alll worth while ;]

Hmm... regarding your light saber clips Omen for me their very subtle differences to make a strong choice either way but if I had to choose it'll be:

lightsaber3a - because the saber seems to be fuller & it might be me but I slightly see a kind of stronger glare when lukes swinging it that adds to the scene.

Also regarding that scene I wonder why in all of georges tinkering he didn't add a light saber reflection to C3PO in that scene over the sabre props stick shadow ?!

lightsabercantina1a - Now this is why my 2 pence worth can't count on this whole lighting thing because of this darker cantina scene the saber seems to not benefit from regrading as it seems to me to be too vivid for the whole dark canteena scene as a whole.

Sorry Omen best leave it to your judgement on this or someone with a stronger view either way :S

My Pcs died on me recently only just got it running again so wans'nt able to see the ewok clip till just now and after seeing it I have to say if the rest of the films are as seemless as that clip was then you are on a winner my friend, and the colour seems just right and natural looking IMO.

Hatch with Cloud backdrop...

I was watching Deleted magic last night and there was a scene in the empire Deleted magic trailer on there thats got lando rescuing luke WITH a sky cloud backdrop to the hatch scene I did'nt know existed, I'll post a pic here of the scene.

Also do you know if your keeping in Lak Sivrak or smoky the lizard for new hope yet at all ?

Put me down for the 1080p BD-50 dual layer, DTS-HD, LCD, KFC monster version as this is gonna be the definitive version for me. The colour theme of the films I think should be down to what the editors feel whats right about there work on that one.

So long as you can see the stars in between the wars and the rebels are not throwing yellow snowballs at the emperor I'm good on what colour theme is picked:D

Lak Sivrak (or wolfman) was replaced in the Special Edition because he was just a store bought Halloween werewolf mask that Lucas thought was unimpressive and I agree.  Smoking rasta lizard is a good change and should stay.

EDIT: OMEN regarding your emperor choice over adywans scene I understand what your saying about the darker hiding in the shadows feel to it for me though it's just his eyes look so false and adywan kept that same feel but it's your film edit bud your shout and apart from that I'm all for the changes spoken.

Adywan's emperor scene should be in place of the rubber face ghoul of old with this original gout dialogue ...

Well OMEN, just checked back here and I'm very glad you've taken up the task of this Updated Partly Despecialized edition or "Mostly Despecialized" lol, I would'nt know where/how to start it myself.

Liking your thoughts on the changes needed from your post pretty much same as what I was thinking was a lil conserned about having the SE sarlacc pit (beak n all) in there but Harmys saved the day on that one :D

Just a few thoughts on my wish list for the films...

New Hope:

All as you said about removing the cringy in your face CG like Jabba and the dumb Jawas at moss islie, but the some of the >background< creatures in moss islie should stay it makes it more of a busy space port and the canteen smoking creature over the wolfman mask creature for sure.

Empire:

Again what you said plus keep most of the cloud city changes minus the scene as lando saves luke, that dual CG hatch is really annoying.

Wampa scene works and would be nice if it stayed.

Jedi:

If you can get that original sarlacc scene back in happy days and that super dame door must go if your sourcing from the blu rays, that CG dance also must go.

Agree, Disc labels will be very nice maybe for this set of Darth Solo's...

This was only a thing that I personally would of loved to have seen but it seems like Harmys best of spending his time and attention on his DeEds projects now then and I totally understand that.

If it's not too involved  I'll have a stab at mocking up a revamped version of the PDEs myself then.

Any pointers anyone on this I'm just looking to get done exactly what Harmy got in the PDEs updated to look as good as the DeEds with a few  extra SE scenes from ESB like the wompa scene and cloud city added in ultimately... So Whats the best tools and way to approach this :S

Well you should be glad you have your definitive version in the DEs there Jar Jar's Yoda and I'm sure alot of peeps will agree with you.

I too will have the theatrical versions (DEs) that I grew up with in the 80's on my shelf also but I like alot of the subtle additions found in the special editions. Cloud cities beautiful views and to see a living city through the many windows in the scenes I like rather then a derelict hospital corridor look to it to name a few changes.

I'm still working on my list with screenshots and scene times to post up here for Harmys consideration starting with a new hope not expecting all the changes but I hope enough agree that most are to stay/remove as needed. 

Great that your thinking of redoing the PDEs Harmy as for me they're the definitive starwars versions. I know the quality of the films are not as sharp as the DE but although alot of the in-your-face CG has no excuse being in there the other subtle changes add to the depth of the films.

I'll have a long hard think of the things that I'd like to see gone and post them here but you've got a good eye for this as you pretty much had it spot on with PDEs new hope sadly I was'nt able to get hold of the other two versions but will glady wait for your new work on them now :]
