I'm pretty sure its the same location (ie Lake Como Italy) that is used in "Casino Royale" (at the end when Bond takes out the bad dude in the car park with his big arsed gun).

is there the use of the word "gentlemen" somewhere? I would've thought Christopher Lee must've said that somewhere in LOTR, the PT, or other movies he's made.

Doesn't he say this when talking with the seperatists while they they are sitting by the table in Episode II????

He says "friends" at the conference in Episode II, and it would be great to have him say "surrender, friends".

No he doesn't. He says gentlemen. "I am quite convinced that ten thousand more systems will rally to our cause with your support gentlemen".

Creating VOB's/Authoring DVD's
Time
Hi all

I seem to be having a problem authoring my finished product to DVD.

I have my final exported video file as an .avi.

I want to author this .avi to a dual layer DVD but Nero Express (the program I use) doesn't seem to like encoding to big (ie dual layer) file sizes (it pops up at the final step saying problems may occur encoding at this level).

Nero Express appears to work fine for single layer authoring but not for dual layer.....anyway.....

So I'm wondering, can anyone recommend any other freeware programs that can adequately encode .avi's to VOB's (dual layer) for burning? (The option of creating chapters is also necessary too).

Thanks in advance all.

It sounds like you are intentionaly deepening your voice. If you are doing it to make him sound tougher then it isn't a good thing. People with voices that naturally deep are usually thicker built and stockier. Hayden is not built this way, and this new voice stands out. I don't take a person more serious just, because their voice is extremely deep.

I completely agree.

I personally don't dig the new voice. It is too deep, generally lacking in emotion and it still sounds dubbed, like a bad Japanese to American translated samari flick (something unavoidable, no matter no what ADR effect you tack on it).

I guess if this makes EpII more watchable for you Trooperman, then that's what counts, I just don't think a lot of people will take it seriously. Sorry.

what is before we cut to Obi-Wan traveling to the ship... we cut back to coruscant, and then when we come back... try to edit some of the shots and make it look like Obi-Wan went to the base of the lava-fall to look for anakin, and finds the lightsaber...and then walks away with it...?

You could incorporate the shot of the base of the lava-fall, then the shot of the bugs walking along the bank... and then show Obi-Wan standing near the lava's edge, picking up the lightsaber, looking out, and walking away?

Maybe incorporate some of the Lament music (Immolation) and then also incorporate some of the shots of Palpatine's arrival...

So then it cuts to him walking to Padme's ship... more time has elapsed... and it really would help change the pace of the film.. not to mention solve the lightsaber problem.

Yes that could work nicely.

All these edits are looking great and its great to see a small "what if" thought I had, slowly become reality.

Personally I prefer Anakin going over the waterfall but yes the issue of the lightsabre is a stickler. You know, it might be possible to still have a trimmed down version of the river bank scene with Obi-Wan and Anakin after the bridge goes over and perhaps cut around the Yoda fight. But anyway, at least the seed is planted and anyone/everyone can have a play around with the idea.

Cheers.

Me too.

And yeah to follow on with what Marvolo is saying, who's to say Anakin's entire body falls into the lava? I guess a little imagination is required from the audience in that we see him go over the edge, we hear him screaming in pain and the next time we see him he's a burnt crisp on the river bank missing some limbs.

Maybe he uses the dark side to protect himself, maybe he just gets lava on him rather than taking a full bath. Either way, I think it could look better than the one swash from Obi's saber and voila, he's 3 limbs down!

We get the added bonus too of Obi-Wan not coming off like so much of an @rsehole, leaving his former friend to smoulder and die.

And GoodMusician, I'm sure with you're editing proweress you could seemlessly move between the 2 different pieces of audio. From one musician to another, nothing is impossible.

Watching your clip GoodMusician (great work by the way) has inspired me with the following idea:

What if during the duel, towards the end when Anakin and Obi-Wan are fighting vertically on that giant arm/bridge, Anakin's "death/demise" actually occurs by him falling over the lava waterfall while still clinging to the bridge?

What annoys me most about the choreography towards the end of the duel is mainly around this part as Obi-Wan leaps from the cable to that tiny floating repuslor sled only to be followed by an equally ridiculous jump from Anakin onto an even SMALLER repuslor sled (done fairly badly I think by way of the special effects).

What if instead following Obi off the bridge, Anakin doesn't make it in time and is taken over the edge of the lava waterfall along with the bridge as it plummets into the lava below?

What this means then, is that the duel ends right here, instead of progressing further to the banks of the lava river.

Using the audio from the river bank scene where Anakin is screaming in pain, layer this as the bridge goes over and I think it will be quite convincing. There's enough footage of Obi-Wan standing looking at the bridge as it goes over, cut to a few of his close up reaction shots from later in the film (ie the river bank scene) and with Anakin's screaming, I think audiences will get the idea.

It means we lose the whole Anakin lying on the river bank scene which has some great dialogue between him and Obi, but this could be used elsewhere in the duel.

After Obi gets back on board his ship and Palpatine comes to Mustafar, we then see Anakin lying by the lava river burned to a crisp and missing his arms and legs but the audience just assumes he's managed to crawl out of the lava and collapse on the slope.

And voila, we have the charred remains of former Jedi minus some awkward and poorly executed fight choreography.

What does everyone think?

Why though? Because its not a Lucasfilm product? Frankly neither animation style has done anything to impress me and I hate to say it, fan films always seem to have that "cheese" factor about them that can't compare to material written and produced by professionals.
