Series has been great if a bit slow and boring at times. It’s not the content itself that I feel is boring, it’s how it’s delivered. A fine season finale brought down by dubious music choice and cgi. Sebastian Stan or any look alike with dubbed voice would have been the more future-proof option.

Having rewatched that scene in your edit, I think you could improve it even just by adding a silent beat. The line is during Kylo and Rey’s skype call in Kijimi.
“You remember WHAT You did”. The volume / intensity in Kylo’s voice changes between ‘remember’ and ‘WHAT’. Maybe adding a beat between those words can make it seem like Kylo is building up to say “what you did” in the more intense tone.
Anyway its just an idea! I really love this edit. I compared your version of Rey vs Tie Fighter with the theatrical version, and yours is just so much better at creating and keeping the tension alive. It makes me realise how the setpieces in TROS are actually really great, maybe with more time to cook the movie would have come out more refined.
After checking out the awesome TROS Resurgence and TLJ Rekindled, I’m thinking this TFA edit is the next one. A new head canon for the sequel trilogy! Can I get a pm? Thank you!
Having watched krausfadr’s excellent TROS cut Resurgence, this version of TLJ sounds like a great follow up for my viewing, could I have a link please?
Similarly not sure how to have Ben appear alive at the end with my limited VFX skills. If there was a way to edit him in though that would be interesting maybe even worth moving the chess scene back to the beginning. But then again it’s also nice having Rey be more independent.
Maybe similarly to all the very nice new ship CGIs, one way could be showing the old ROTJ ship that Ben comes to Exegol with in your edit, maybe showing that leaving Exegol, its a start. I appreciate your edit for keeping Ben alive without compromising the quality of the ending, though, well done!
The Rise of Skywalker: RESURGENCE - krausfadr
I had a great time at the cinema watching TROS. The issues came afterwards, the more I thought about it. Although I still have a very positive opinion of the movie, I know it’s got a lot of issues: pacing at the start is too fast, a main character doesn’t get the ending they deserve, the villain was revealed in a Fortnite event.
The RESURGENCE fanedit by krausfadr goes a long way to fixing my qualms with TROS. There’s less sillyness, which is a common goal of many Star Wars fanedits, but good jokes have been kept in this one. It gives Kylo Ren a stronger character arc by punching up his motivations and hatred / love for his father Han Solo. The Knights of Ren are voiced, raising them from easter egg to cool masked villains like Boba Fett and Phasma, they’ve got a snarky personality. This makes them more menacing and gives them more depth. I want to buy Knights of Ren toys because of the new voices.
Technically it is nearly flawless. There’s a very minor audio volume issue with a Kylo Ren line around halfway. Every other cut or change I could barely notice, most I didn’t.
One thing I’ve come to know about Star Wars fanedits is how great the community is. The Knights of Ren voices for this cut can be used for other cuts, and similarly krausfadr has used CGI edits by other editors to great effect here. I salute the people making these sequences for the community!
Rey’s character arc also feels improved by this edit.

In RESURGENCE, Rey was the one who killed her parents, and she is unrelated to Palpatine. Palpatine’s reveal is left to nearly 40 minutes in, and AFAIK the Resistance barely even learns he is back, they are mostly fighting the Final Order fleet. In order to successfully sell these plot changes, krausfadr had to cut a lot of lines throughout the movie, but it worked. Rey’s motivation and character arc is still coming to terms with her dark side. This is manifested in her killing her parents after they sold her, presumably having sold her because she was dangerous, not just because they were drunk fools. They were afraid of her, perhaps. The conversation with Luke is all about coming to terms with her dark side, and not about her lineage. Speaking of Luke, he feels regal in this edit. And it matches well with the use of the force ghosts with Rey at the end. It feels like the same Luke throughout the movie and the trilogy.

TROS is a good Star Wars movie IMO, but RESURGENCE makes it a great Star Wars movie. There are still a few new scenes I would love to see, but without source material it is hard to get there.
Parting words: this edit’s version of Rey vs the Tie Fighter is phenomenal.
Finished watching today, it’s a really good edit! I love the extra personality you’ve added to the Knights of Ren, they’re really cool now.
Ben’s journey feels more fleshed out due to the Knights of Ren and Corellia additions.
Eliminating Rey healing the snake was well done, wonder if the snake could be shown afraid in any way.
Framing Rey’s trip to Tattooine as something she’s doing with her friends is very well done.
I do miss the yellow saber at the end. I also wish we could have had more Ben after we last see him, wonder if there is any way of CGIing Adam Driver from elsewhere, maybe when Rey looks to the side (when she looks at the twin suns), we could cut to him smiling, maybe even a voice line from some other show / movie.
I dont know how you did Rey saying she killed parents, that was flawless. The flashback with the explosion was shocking! Really enjoyed seeing the story like this. Also holding Palps reveal for later worked nicely.
Only noticeable editing bit was a line from Kylo where the volume goes too high too quickly (“what you DID” i think the line was.
In summary, this is a near definitive version of TROS for me!
EDIT: Also, the changes to the Rey and Tie Fighter showdown are perfect. The buildup is fantastic.
Although I really enjoyed TROS at the cinema, I was disappointed with the pacing and some of the choices done. Been looking for a fanedit to bring me peace, this sounds really exciting. Would love a PM link, please! Thank you.
