Re-Specialized Edition / a cross between the definitive Editions and the theatrical original trilogy.
Time

Are you only including the extras that were in the 1997 Special Edition versions?

Harmy made a ‘Re-Specialized Edition’ of Star Wars, as it was in 1997.

He never got around to making one for ESB or ROTJ.

I’ve been looking for a clean cut of the 1997 SE of ROTJ for years…
That was the first time I saw it in theaters. Still had Sebastian Shaw as Anakin force ghost.

Is the 1997 Special Edition important?
Time

I’m glad to see that I’m not the only one that likes the 1997 SE versions.
I got to see Star Wars & Empire in 77 & 80 but never got to see Jedi in theaters until 97.
This was such an exciting time for me in my early 20’s & I saw each film multiple times in the theater.
I don’t have to like all the changes, but I remember the feeling I had being able to see the Trilogy on the big screen again.

I sometimes watch the SE trailers on YouTube.

I’ve been able to find copies of Harmy’s ReSpecialized and another version of Empire in the 97 SE format.

Hope to get Jedi in its 97 SE format someday as well.

Yes, the 97 SE versions are important.

I hope others feel the same & a 4K project happens!

If I recall correctly, Team Blu only released Star Wars 1997; it seems to be difficult to track down outside of the Spleen. I don’t think they completed ESB 1997 or ROTJ 1997.

However, Harmy made his own Star Wars 1997 called the “Respecialized Edition”. The thread for it is here:
https://originaltrilogy.com/topic/Harmys-STAR-WARS-Respecialized-Edition-97-AVCHD-and-MKV-now-out/id/16682

To download it, follow the link for the “Ultimate Guide” in the first post of Harmy’s main thread for Star Wars here:
https://originaltrilogy.com/topic/Harmys-STAR-WARS-Despecialized-Edition-HD-V27-MKV-IS-OUT-NOW/id/12713

As for ESB 1997, Adywan released a nice version in both MKV (14 GB) and AVCHD (8 GB) formats. Both are available on Usenet by searching for “adywan 1997” in the NZBKing search engine. If you haven’t used Usenet before, I would recommend NZBGet software along with a free account from the “free-usenet” provider. It might take you a day or two to download, but hey - it’s free!

I am not aware of any ROTJ 1997 versions out there other than Laserdisc rips.

Thanks for the Help Bluto!😃

Can someone PM me the download links please as I can’t see them on the forum.

Many thanks

I’d be very greatful if someone could do the same for me as well! Sounds like an ideal 1997 version 😄 I’ve been looking for one for EVER.

I’ve been looking for a copy of the 97 releases as well.
I can’t even find Laser Disc rips out there.
I don’t have a MySpleen account and can’t find these versions on any torrent site anywhere.
If anyone can help me out, please do.
It seems like I’m not the only one looking…
