it’s not spamming to want to access the projects here, and I don’t think that folks should need to meet a threshold of participation in order to do so

It is spamming when the creators of edits clearly say to PM or email them or provide ways to access their work in their initial post, but new users don’t care to read the rules of the site they are signing up for and are just constantly inflating threads with link requests.

EDIT: Moreso, the reason WHY this was established in the first place was because of existing users of the site getting annoyed with new users not bothering to even look into how to get an edit and then acting entitled when people a direct link wouldn’t get posted in a thread, or they would tell someone off for needing to wait to PM the creator.

'Rey Skywalker' (Upcoming live action motion picture) - general discussion thread

As expected… the movie is now being reported as “shelved”

😂😂😂

The latest Star Wars story to hit the pause button is Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy’s Star Wars film, which will include the much-anticipated return of Daisy Ridley’s Rey. The movie was first announced at Star Wars Celebration in 2023 and has since stopped and started through the development process.

The latest update on the Rey movie comes from entertainment insider Daniel Richtman, who reported on his Patreon that the Rey movie is “on hold once again.” Richtman reiterated that “the project is not canceled” but is “temporarily on hold.

Rogue One: A Star Wars Story - Special Edition

I still think Bor Gullet feels out of place. Sometimes “show don’t tell” isn’t always the right approach.

Hal’s edit handles the Bodhi stuff quite well, with us meeting Bodhi for the first time in the prison cell and him being less out of it.

However, if you’d want to reinstate some stuff to include more Saw:

  • I think the initial Bodhi intro scene could still work fine as is.
  • When Saw pulls his mask tight back to his suit, cut to the next scene.
  • Leave Bor Gullet out of the edit.
  • Re-add Bodhi being more out of it and not knowing who he is when he is in the jail cell. His mental state leaves it to the imagination of the viewer to dwell on the extent of his interrogation.

By cutting this way, Bor Gullet is removed, and the assumption is instead that Saw was the one that did something to him to jack his head up so badly. I think that works to make Saw seem even crazier if that is your goal.

I should also point out that, due to the use of AI, this might count as a Fan Edit, not a Preservation

Not that it is the same caliber, but would you consider AI being used on The Beatles’ “Now & Then” to isolate and clean the noise on Lennon’s vocals a preservation or an edit? It’s a bit of a gray area. It is not creating, only cleaning and adjusting levels and removing static and background noise.

Might want to find an AI that can properly recreate a red ball jett organ’s keys, instead of that ridiculous inverted, not-quite-right piano keyboard it gave you.

Good catch! I’ll give it a shot. I’m at my limit for image creation for the day but I saved a bunch of pics of Rebo’s setup that I can feed in for the AI to reference.

A little teaser for something I am working on:

This preservation aims to restore the full version of the music created for Jabba’s Palace.

There are some existing versions on YouTube that blend audio pulled from ROTJ and an ILM documentary. I am using several of these as a source.

The full clips are then being processed through AI to clean up the “lost” segments with the goal being to improve the lower quality to match the surrounding better quality audio.

I also intend to release an extended version once completed that extends out the music to 5-ish minutes instead of just 2.

More to come soon!

James Bond 007 Thread
Time

I’m actually really digging Patrick Gibson in the role. He will be the younger Bond in the new First Light: 007 game that is releasing next year. He was great as young Dexter in Dexter: Original Sin, and so far, I’ve loved what I’ve seen and heard about this upcoming game.

Ideally, since they will be rebooting the film-side of things, they’ll need to have a younger actor that can carry the franchise for the next 15-20 years. I’d love to see them just cast Patrick, he’s 30 years old now, and could easily play him for the next 20 years.

The game, or let’s be real… games if this sells well, can focus on 007’s origins, while the movies can have him be slightly aged up and get back to a more traditional film structure.
