I already saw Palpatine’s laugh from the IX trailer coming from the start.
Haha, that really was the starting point for this project and the first thing I added to the timeline before I did anything else!
I just finished my first small fan edit, which is also the first time I’ve created anything “original” using editing.
With Palpatine returning, in some form or another, via Rise of Skywalker, it inspired me to make this fan edit. I set out to answer the question: “What if the Empire wanted to make a propaganda video extolling the strength and virtues of the Imperial system?”
By using footage from all six prequel/original trilogy movies, plus Rogue One, I tinkered with the narrative set in the movies by only showing the best the Empire had to offer (with a little bit of history of how the Empire came to be, thrown in for good measure). No need to mention not one, but two Death Stars destroyed and all that. No room for defeatism!
Editing was done in the free version of DaVinci Resolve (just started learning it - loving it so far!) with a ton of free time that I didn’t really have.
