No prob!
No prob!
So there’s actually 2 dubs of Super Show in Danish, one was released on VHSes and were pretty bad, but then when Fox Kids channels started being a thing internationally, they produced a new dub (which then had 4 3 episode DVDs released). Zelda was released separately during the initial VHS run of Super Show but had a similarly shoddy dub.
For Danish Super Show segments, I’d recommend, of the newer dub, which are the ones you can find on Youtube:
Live action: All Steamed Up
Cartoon: King Mario of Cramalot
Zelda: I really don’t know since I don’t think I’ve ever watched a full episode in Danish lmao
Nah, the thing I was hoping to do was just swap to the German audio track whenever a song was supposed to come on, lmao. The audio tracks I’m really after are the Danish ones but aside from 4 3 episode DVDs, and short clips of VHS recordings on Youtube, the Danish dub is pretty much lost media, despite the entire series being dubbed as far as I know. It’s a shame but I’ll live since I love Lou and Danny’s performances.
I think those segments weren’t tampered with the same way the actual episodes were, for some reason. At least when I checked the “bonus” ones on the first set. (And yeah I ended up buying the volumes separate since it was WAY cheaper)
Welp, I should’ve asked about the video quality I guess, lmao. I assumed it’d be decent because the Nordic DVDs I have do have pretty decent video quality and 60 FPS for the live action segments, which most Youtube uploads don’t have, and I assumed this set might’ve been using the same masters (The German Power Ranger DVDs I have also are better quality than the Youtube uploads as well) but whatever they did is pretty terrible. You can find Super Show episodes in better quality on Youtube and at that point having a physical set becomes pretty pointless.
I might try to get my hands on the other sets (even though it’s a pain to get anything imported to the EU now), or just wait for the full restoration and burn the episodes and bonus features onto a Blu-Ray.
So I got the German set at a decent price. I love that it has an audio track with all the songs but the video quality is pretty terrible. It looks like a downscale of an upscale, and is really grainy sometimes for some reason? IMO it looks worse than the Nordic DVDs (only a few episodes per disc) that I have. Pretty disappointing. Oh well.
Thanks for the info! I might still get the German set but I look forward to seeing your release as well.
Hello, I know a lot of episodes have properly been restored now by various people over the years and put on Youtube, but I’d like to mention that there’s been a new German complete series release of Super Show.
https://www.amazon.de/-/en/Lou-Albano-voice/dp/B0B7GLN7ZS/
It contains both an English and German audio track, however I haven’t bought it yet so I can’t be sure if either contains the original music. If I were to guess, the German audio track probably has the music while the English one doesn’t, but again we can’t be sure until someone bites the bullet and buys the set.I have that set. We’ll not the whole set, but Pidax put it out in parts before they made a complete set. It does include German and English audio tracks on the episodes with Mario cartoons, and all of the lost segments are included. However, they are still missing the cover songs on the English tracks. The only home video release of George Washington Slept Here.
The Zelda segments have only German audio and only include the live action portions as bonus material. The only home video release of most of the Zelda episodes, with German audio only.
The set is worth getting if you want those missing episodes in some capacity, but most (all?) of the episodes are missing some scenes here and there.
I will finish this project, though much like Adywan and his Star Wars edits, I can’t provide a time frame.
The episodes are missing scenes? Like which ones? I know that some international versions (I’m from Denmark btw) cut the Zelda previews. And I assume the German audio does have the cover songs then?
