MVCSource appears to allow you to decode either stream, at which point you can either write out to an AVI File, or encode with x264 etc.
I’m not sure if you can do mathematically zero loss of quality, as I believe 3D Blu-rays are encoded with MVC video codec, while 2D Blu-rays use AVC video codec.

My gut tells me ‘no’, as you don’t want to duplicate the signal but rather send the audio component a different route - I assume this is somehow ‘split’ within the player as it decodes the signal.

As you said the player has a single HDMI 2.0a, supporting HDCP 2.2 as described in this link, while the reciever has 4 x HDMI 2.0 connectors, also supporting HDCP 2.2 according to this link. Even Yamaha’s Press Rlease says it does HDCP 2.2:

TV has 3 x HDMI 2.0a, supporting HDCP 2.2, so from these specs your entire video chain is HDCP 2.2 compliant, and shouldn’t need to convert to HDCP 1.4??

IMO, it appears the issue is the reciever is only HDMI 2.0 not 2.0a and so it’s not an issue of HDCP which is the problem, but the HDMI specification. Hopefully someone will chip in if I’ve got this completely wrong. If it were HDCP ‘standards’ as an issue, I can see how a box like you suggested would work, as it legally decodes 2.2 protection, and then re-protects at 1.4 which is supported by more devices. I think your issue is that the signal coming out of your player is then having the additional commands in the 2.0a subset ‘stripped’ which are then required by the TV set.
If you’re still covered, I would look to exchange the Samsung 8500 for the 9500 which has the dual HDMI connectors.

I think you’re mixing your hdmi standards with your hdcp standards.
Does your 4k Blu-ray player not have a separate hdmi output just for audio? My Panasonic does so I can feed hdr video direct to the display and audio only direct to my receiver.
I was wondering if anyone has, or knows where I can find, hires, ideally textless promo artwork for both “Star Wars Rebels” and “The Clone Wars”.
Lots of good stuff for the films, but the TV shows don’t seem to show up for me in Google searches.

Just putting it out there, but there are websites that offer up / downvoting of youtube videos in bulk - google returns a number of hits. I’m sure if a bunch of people through in a few $$ we could get some ‘social media engineering’ going on.
It’s a decent idea that mate - though likely LDS will take down that video if they get so many negative comments or downvotes - and then they’ll start again with a new video a week or so later.
In fact I’d be surprised if they didn’t delete some of the comments on there before too long.
Thinking about it, personally, I’d advocate against going down the path of a bulk negative down vote tool - they already have more downvotes than upvotes - and that’s from real people giving their opinion on it. Let’s keep it that way.
Plus, I wouldn’t waste money on these leeches.

All good points. This social engineering angle has got me thinking. If the community were to create a series of ‘informational’ videos on YouTube, and apply the correct keywords surely we could push videos like this scumbag down the results, hopefully preventing sales and raising awareness.
It’s too risky to point ‘official’ videos on ‘This is where you download things from’, but videos which walk people through ‘I have a bunch of RAR files - what are they, and what do I do?’ or ‘How do I burn an ISO?’ or ‘I want to make cool box sets for my friends, what do I need, how much does it cost?’.
You’re not going to stop everyone, but if it means that ‘our’ videos hit the top of the results rather than his / theirs, it might prevent some people going down the dark path. It’s the same with Team Blu’s projects - you do a search for “Fright Night II” on YouTube, and if the video is talking about the TB release, it’ll be some copy bought off ebay which they are then providing a link to.

Throughout this forum there are various examples of custom covers that people have made for their own projects with their own discs or ‘custom boxsets’ for gifts etc.
A number of people have also posted about their ideal ultimate boxset. Go wild!
From your posts, you seem to do lots of asking of other people and lots of fixation on Star Wars Legacy. May I suggest you open your eyes to other projects and perhaps try to contribute more and request less?

I don’t know what kind of discs they are using other than their claim to be dual layered 50GB discs with a special water and scratch resistant coating. For me $20 per disc doesn’t seem egregious, but as I said, if a member here would like to spread some holiday cheer my way, my PM is open. 😉

They don’t bear ANY significant cost. They’ve downloaded the completed discs for FREE and are generating disgusting amounts of profit off other people’s hard work.
If their costs are higher than $5 per disc / title I’d be very shocked.
I merged Harmy video with the PCM track: it plays normally.
So it seems to be a video problem.
There are a fair number of differences between the two files in terms of video encoding, so it could be that your file has been encoded to an unsupported spec that hardware like the Sony cannot play. Harmy’s file for example is encoded to the Blu-ray spec, which is a known standard.
So at the risk of getting temp-banned, how does one manage to acquire this newer capture? Been wanting to get my hands on it for a while.
I believe it’s both on ‘the organ’ and Usenet - released by EditDroid.
The BSG Blu Ray is a significant upgrade, but Universal deserves a Cylon invasion for bundling it with cropped for widescreen versions. You can’t get the full frame set separately unless someone breaks up the set on Ebay.
I think the UK release is just the 4x3 versions…

Packaging looks absolutely fantastic Ron, the kind of set this film deserves - like Warners Ultimate Collectors editions of Wizard of Oz, but with the dial turned up to 11!
In terms of pillarboxing, I sometimes find the best option is to hardcode the pillarbox bars into the video so that everything is 16x9 - just removes any doubt that the player / tv is going to try and stretch to fill the sceen.
