Harmy, I was trying to find a way to download this amazing piece of work, and someone on youtube is burning these to blu rays and charging $45 for them. LDS Entertainment https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gwIbM_uS8aA&t=71s

Personally, as just a member here, I’d encourage everyone to downvote that video.

If it puts anyone off buying from them it’ll be worth it.

And also carry on reporting any Despecialized items they see for sale on ebay too.

Just putting it out there, but there are websites that offer up / downvoting of youtube videos in bulk - google returns a number of hits. I’m sure if a bunch of people through in a few $$ we could get some ‘social media engineering’ going on.

It’s a decent idea that mate - though likely LDS will take down that video if they get so many negative comments or downvotes - and then they’ll start again with a new video a week or so later.

In fact I’d be surprised if they didn’t delete some of the comments on there before too long.

Thinking about it, personally, I’d advocate against going down the path of a bulk negative down vote tool - they already have more downvotes than upvotes - and that’s from real people giving their opinion on it. Let’s keep it that way.

Plus, I wouldn’t waste money on these leeches.

(and if anyone does have a few spare $s, consider sending Adywan or poita a donation to help them with their superb projects)

All good points. This social engineering angle has got me thinking. If the community were to create a series of ‘informational’ videos on YouTube, and apply the correct keywords surely we could push videos like this scumbag down the results, hopefully preventing sales and raising awareness.

It’s too risky to point ‘official’ videos on ‘This is where you download things from’, but videos which walk people through ‘I have a bunch of RAR files - what are they, and what do I do?’ or ‘How do I burn an ISO?’ or ‘I want to make cool box sets for my friends, what do I need, how much does it cost?’.

You’re not going to stop everyone, but if it means that ‘our’ videos hit the top of the results rather than his / theirs, it might prevent some people going down the dark path. It’s the same with Team Blu’s projects - you do a search for “Fright Night II” on YouTube, and if the video is talking about the TB release, it’ll be some copy bought off ebay which they are then providing a link to.

Blu-Ray and other HD box size STAR WARS covers
Time

Jedi Master Skywalker, as ChainsawAsh says, if you wish to go off and make fantasy covers for your dream release, be our guest, we would love to see what you come up with.

Throughout this forum there are various examples of custom covers that people have made for their own projects with their own discs or ‘custom boxsets’ for gifts etc.

A number of people have also posted about their ideal ultimate boxset. Go wild!

From your posts, you seem to do lots of asking of other people and lots of fixation on Star Wars Legacy. May I suggest you open your eyes to other projects and perhaps try to contribute more and request less?

These guys are making an insane amount of profit and it’s sad to see anyone defend them.

I agree. I’m actually surprised these individuals haven’t been outed - I thought the internet was good at the whole ‘Pitchfork and Torches’ thing, but from the last couple of pages, it appears this topic should be renamed “Justifying People Selling Fan Projects”. This forum of all places, it just boggles the mind.

I don’t know what kind of discs they are using other than their claim to be dual layered 50GB discs with a special water and scratch resistant coating. For me $20 per disc doesn’t seem egregious, but as I said, if a member here would like to spread some holiday cheer my way, my PM is open. 😉

What, you mean something like these from Amazon - https://www.amazon.com/PlexDisc-Resistant-Printable-Blu-ray-Spindle/dp/B016LTAX7I/ - $26 for 10?

Harmy's STAR WARS Despecialized Edition HD - V2.7 - MKV (Released)

I merged Harmy video with the PCM track: it plays normally.
So it seems to be a video problem.

There are a fair number of differences between the two files in terms of video encoding, so it could be that your file has been encoded to an unsupported spec that hardware like the Sony cannot play. Harmy’s file for example is encoded to the Blu-ray spec, which is a known standard.

ronwlim Ultimate Star Wars boxset, 2.0!

Thanks for the tip Solkap. I’ve been using Roxio Toast on my Macbook Pro. I’ll try poking around videohelp.com.

Packaging looks absolutely fantastic Ron, the kind of set this film deserves - like Warners Ultimate Collectors editions of Wizard of Oz, but with the dial turned up to 11!

In terms of pillarboxing, I sometimes find the best option is to hardcode the pillarbox bars into the video so that everything is 16x9 - just removes any doubt that the player / tv is going to try and stretch to fill the sceen.

That’s OK. Without your effort, none of us would have been able to see these amazing restorations that you do.

Is there any particular reason you’re being such an asshole? Or do you just not realize that some people have to work for a living? I guess unless I spend all my limited free time working on restoring illicitly acquired 35mm prints, I have no right to ask others politely about the status of their ongoing projects. My mistake, won’t make it again.

I think you find the conversation chain was:

I had also sent you HP6 OM SD and full screen SD, remember?

@Papai2013: sorry, you are right, but with all those sources I forgot to credit you, please forgive me! First post edited to reflects your help (both here and there), thanks again!

I still have the original files (OT), but I don’t know where I’d upload it this time around.

Thanks Molly, I wouldn’t ask you to go out of your way to upload this especially, as it’s more of a curiosity than anything else. Thanks to SnooPac and a_o as well for the PM Support - it appears that the Usenet upload is broken somehow.

I’m currently trying to grab this from “The Organ”, and I can see there is two seeders so I’m fairly hopeful to get hold of this at some point.

Star Wars Despecialized Editions - Custom Bluray Set (Released)

I imagine many of us pop in a few of these quality threads from time to time - seeing the thread has been bumped - thinking there may be some new additions to the work, or a new alternative take, or that it has inspired someone to do something similar, or perhaps that the techniques and software used are now easier to compile our own versions of njvc’s great work, or just a good conversation on the topic at hand etc…

but no… it’s yet another ‘can I have a link’ post…

doh!

Same here! I would love to hear NJVC’s process, was there things he tried and failed, if he could do them again, what would he do differently. There’s nothing wrong with this set, but does he dream of a version 2?

There was several possible Blu-ray projects using Harmy’s versions of the OT, and I think this was the only one to cross the finish line.

Is this it?
“Job Done”, NJVC is the winner?

Back in the day, there was a bunch of LD Preservations, where everyone did their own take on it, with their own encoding and menus (1000 pass encode via CCE-SP2 😉)

Bravo NJVC, you did what few spoke of, and fewer delivered!

(I thought requests were going to be deleted to help clear up the threads, but perhaps I misunderstood the ‘sticky’…)
