After being unavoidably away from here for a while (not jail!) , I've a little catching up to do.  While some are no longer here thanks to turning to the dark side it seems (!), there are also some new faces around.  Hello to those.

Something that I previously intended to bring up has been mentioned recently - the 'floating' element shown above.  I didn't realize that it was supposed to be a 'floating health spa' (!), and I hadn't seen that Ralph McQuarrie artwork of it before either, that Bingowings linked to.  Thanks for that.

Anyway, although I happen to really like this additional SE shot of the Falcon interior and crew (perhaps someone can put the WHOLE screenshot up? -  it seems to be a re-use of one just a little earlier in the approach to Bespin City), I personally always found this 'floating' element in the top left-hand side a HUGE distraction in the overall shot, as the eye is drawn away from everything else....including the more interesting subtle 'Cloud-car' elements that are going on.  Also, it is not seen in any of the subsequent background shots of the City whatsoever.

While I have nothing against the actual element itself, I would have preferred if it had been used in a different shot, rather than making that one so distractingly 'busy'.  Just my own 2 cents on that.

If Adywan keeps the shot as it stands, at least I now know what that 'floating' object actually is!  :)

^^ I guess the most simple way to go about that is simply push it back into the distance so it is less prominent. The "less is more idea".

Ady may have already replaced this shot altogether with something even better though.

Idea: KILL JAR-JAR!!!
Time

When Luke meets Jabba, and gets the 'trap door treatment', instead of a guard going down with him, Jar-Jar goes down, and gets eaten by the Rancor. :D

LoL ^^

OR someone can realistically edit in Jar Jar's bones in the Rancor pit. Then when Luke grabs a bone to put into the Rancor's mouth - it'll be Jar Jars leg bone (formerly connected to his hip-bone).

Alas, his death will have TRUE meaning.

I like the idea of the heat blur. I think it can be most effective if it's very subtle. Which is something AdY is good at.

Visually it would remind me of that burst of heat in your face when you open your oven door. Imagine being forced to endure that AND more while strapped down. Jeez.

"I've always thought it's a horribly glaring omission (puppet limitations) that we never got to see Luke learning any saber skills, other than blocking the shots of the remote for all of 60 seconds, which is about all Ben ever showed him.  Levitating rocks and running through the woods with Yoda on your back hardly seems like really inclusive training to me.  After all, Luke's entire purpose in life was to defeat the Sith, seems like combat training would be a fairly high priority, no?

Obviously Yoda must have taught him something, and just thought it might be neat to see on screen."

^^ I agree. I can't think of a good place to put such a scene but it would have been nice. If EsB were made today no doubt we'd see Luke training with his saber on Dagobah.

THE TRAILER!

WOW

THANKS ADY!

Looks like you are outdoing yourself again. The shots of Bespin are beautiful. Palpatine is looking great..... I also like what you ended up doing with many of the other shots, especially the scene of Leia, Lando and Chewy running.

I'm really happy AdY is working on the emperor scene............I'm really looking forward to his version.

I was happy as hell when they updated it for the DvD's...........at least they gave it a shot and made use of Ian during filming of RoTS.....it was better than the "monkey eye" woman.

However - more work needed to be done in post to make him look CONSISTENT with how he looked just 1 film later.

In regard to the falcon zooming past the SD window and appearing too close........very good point. I never really saw it that way - but it sounds like a legit flaw.

However, I'd still leave it as is only because if Ady were to push it further back it would lessen the dramatic impact of the scene. In other words....I'd let it slide as Sev and others have also suggested.

"well it will only be 720p DL-AVCHD for PS3 & blu-ray players & possibly a mkv"

^^ Well as long as it's available for play on the Ps3 I'll be a happy camper. I never did get AnHR working on my Ps3 or Mac......just got a dreaded error message.

As it stands I can only play it on my old DvD player.

BtW - I'm liking the new clip from the battle of Hoth. Can't wait to see how it plays when watching the movie proper.

Speaking of which, AdY as you go along and make these changes do you watch them for 10-15 minutes surrounded by the other footage before and after the new bit to see if whatever is new is jarring?

SAVE LANDO!!!!
Time

After some thought on the subject I say................eh, it's AdY's baby, it's his version of the story so if that's how he wants it.....go for it dude. If anyone can pull it off he can.

One thing I'd like to say on the matter though..............

Considering AdY clearly has a sense of humor (*caugh Wampa video caugh*) I would not put it past him if his hints of killing off Lando were all a ruse. LoL

The purpose of the ruse you ask?

Well everyone's gripe about RoTJ is that it lacks any sense of danger for our heroes.....SO by AdY saying he'll kill off Lando in RoTJ we'll all be waiting for it when that faithful day FINALLY comes a few years from now and we are watching the edit. Hence he'll have added that sense of urgency back into the film - from a certain point of view...without changing it at all.

Just saying...............lol it's a possibility.

"you WILL get to see a brief glimpse of the new wampa. I've got to admit i'm pretty nervous about revealing this but i though it best to reveal it earlier just in case it doesn't work and i'm looking at it with too favourable eyes just because i built it. but anyway you'll see soon. hopefully it will be ready & online by tomorrow night  and maybe even earlier"

^^ That's awesome.............I wasn't expecting it so soon. Thanks AdY! And I'm sure it'll look fine bTw. Now I'll be checking in on the board every few hours, lol.

Sev.....glad to hear about the CG Yoda being confirmed in Insider, I wasn't aware of that....I definitely give them credit for that one as it'll really improve TpM.........to your point...

"The same goes for any movie ever made can have several things corrected, people aren't as obsessive compulsive as we are on films. Any film can be put thru the ringer and many things corrected in it technically. The film industry doesn't have endless non deadline times to work on things.

It's like with anything. I am sure there are people more obsessed with every detail in a Stephen King novel than Mr King was himself. Same goes for George Lucas and SW, he isn't as quite obsessive compusive with these films as we are. Same goes for just about any director and their films."

^^ Makes sense....I agree with what you are saying. I just think many of us take GL to task a bit more considering he has gone back and done work on these films a few times but still hasn't quite nailed it. Which is pretty much why we're here. In a way I'm glad though - because these projects are a blast to follow and this is now one of my favorite boards.

Anyway, *Forest Gump voice* that's all I have to say about that. LoL

^^ YES! I too am really looking forward to Ady's take on the Wampa. I'm wondering if the new wampa will be a cross between the other wampa designs or something a bit more out there?

Nice to hear that the wobble is gone! Sorry to hear it was such a task though. Also, I'm very glad to hear we'll be seeing a little saber glow on Luke.

"I am betting we see all the movies released on blu ray by the end of 2011, including the TPM with CG Yoda."

^^ Not to sound anti-GL, but I spent years hoping they'd get around to adding a CG Yoda into TpM but in the end all we got was another re-release with the same puppet and some teasing of a CG Yoda in the special features of RoTS (which I still don't get) Anyway - my point is I have almost NO hope GL or ILM will make any effort to improve Yoda's appearance...or a number of other issues in the Saga.

Sadly, there just aren't enough people like Ady out there who actually care enough to make these movies the best that they can be.

Wow.....I notice that with the color corrections the Executor bridge now looks more like the Star destoyer bridge we see at the end of RoTs.

I'm loving all the new screen shots added again Ady.

Maybe the only thing I'd think about is adding a bit more of a hint of orange to the floor we see Leia, Lando and Chewie running on. Not as much as the SE added but a hint of it?

Perhaps a bit of subtle orange reflecting on the outer right wall as well to help it blend in better?

Also don't know it it's possible but maybe a hint of orange to Leia, Lando and Chewie as well which isn't present mainly because originally it was simply an inside shot.

Or maybe they could be a little darker considering the lighting under those circumstances? Not silhouettes per say though.

........

new quickie mock up...........
