Adywan released a 1080p version of ESB:Revisited a few weeks ago.
Adywan released a 1080p version of ESB:Revisited a few weeks ago.
I think that Adywan’s ESB Revisited Emperor scene should be included. It doesn’t reveal anything too early, and has Ian McDiarmid.
If you’re doing Yub Nub in Episode VI, you should use Sebastian Shaw. Hayden would completely feel out of place using the original ending.
Also, you can ask HAL for the audio for “A Jedi Master who instructed me” in Empire, and “I wanted you to have this” in SW77.
Added the Star Trek: Operation Annihilate/Amok Time and Sensurround Alien Laserdiscs.
Watched the Blu-Ray of Jaws (1975) on my 1080p projection setup. Contrary to popular belief, the shark is visible when it eats a man in the estuary.
Added South Pacific (1958) and Heat (1995) on Laserdisc. Weeded the Pan & Scan VHS of the latter film.
1940 is a better year for cinema than 1939. Rebecca, Pinocchio, Fantasia, The Thief of Bagdad, Foreign Correspondent and The Shop Around the Corner are all essential viewing.
It’s hard to believe that it’s been 20 years since the Phantom Edit came out. We really have come a long way since then.
Duck Amuck - This short is still incredibly hilarious. The twist at the end makes the short complete, and is a great punchline.
Here’s a list of DiscoVision releases in my collection and their dead sides:
Frankenstein (1931) {Dead side is Side 3 of Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band}
3 Days of the Condor (1975) {Dead side is Side 1 of the unreleased DiscoVision edition of Bullitt}
Jaws (1975) {Dead side is Side 4 of The Electric Horseman}
At Home with Donald Duck {2-Sided titles such as this one don’t have dead sides)
The theater that I saw Solo at is still standing. It’s the Waterworks Theater, where my mom waited 4 hours in line to experience a midnight showing of Phantom Menace. The theater where I first saw Clone Wars, The sequel trilogy and Rogue One (South Side Works) permanently closed as mentioned before. I also saw all five Disney-era theatrical features at the Manor Theatre as well, and that theater turns 100 next year.
Added the DiscoVision release of Jaws to my collection.
Did you know that the GOUT synced versions of Threepio can be used with the official Definitive (later pressing) and Faces Laserdiscs with a Genlock subtitle system?
Here’s a list of my Star Wars videos:
Star Wars (1986 JSC Laserdisc)
The Empire Strikes Back (1987 JSC Laserdisc)
Return of the Jedi (1987 JSC Laserdisc)
From Star Wars to Jedi (1992 VHS)
The Making of Star Wars (1995 Faces VHS)
Clone Wars: Volume 1 (2005 DVD)
Clone Wars: Volume 2 (2005 DVD)
Rogue One (2017 Blu-Ray)
Rebels: Season 1 (2015 Blu-Ray)
Rebels: Season 2 (2016 Blu-Ray)
Rebels: Season 3 (2017 Blu-Ray)
Rebels: Season 4 (2018 Blu-Ray)
The Force Awakens (2020 4K UHD)
The Last Jedi (2018 4K UHD)
Solo (2018 Best Buy 4K UHD Steelbook)
Added Best of Warner Bros 5 Film Collection: Comedy, which contains Blazing Saddles, Caddyshack, National Lampoon’s Vacation, Grumpy Old Men & Ace Ventura. It had a working digital code as well.
Do you think this edit will be done in time for Star Wars’ 45th Anniversary on May 25, 2022?
I came up with this idea for fixing the prequels. By making Solo Episode II and Rogue One Episode III, you can go all out in changes using 2 hours of footage from the 3 prequels in a 3-in-1 edit.
Added The Thing US Letterbox Laserdisc (movie only). Also added Empire Strikes Back JSC and Snow White Japanese Bilingual LDs.
Gave the 1992 Fullscreen Star Wars Trilogy VHS Boxset to a friend of my sister’s who hasn’t seen the theatrical cut, and has a VCR to play the set on.
The list of Matrix material in my collection:
The Matrix (2018 4K Ultra HD)
The Animatrix (2003 DVD)
I never considered Reloaded or Revolutions canon.
I feel that Final Fantasy V Advance has a better, more orchestrated soundfont than the Super Famicom version. The SFC soundfont wasn’t as good as the other two 16-bit Final Fantasies’ SNES soundfonts.
I think that prequel edits should be viewed in Machete Order, thus spoiling Vader’s identity is not worth removing if an edit is designed to be viewed in Machete Order.
I really liked the bonus feature of Jar-Jar dying on Alderaan from ANH:Revisited SD. Maybe the scene can be updated with new CGI so it doesn’t look like Earth exploding? This happened because of the Star Trek: Enterprise footage used in the scene.
Added In The Heights to my 4K UHD collection. It will arrive upon it’s release.
Terminated the 2-Disc Ultimate Hunter DVD of Citizen Kane (I’m keeping the Criterion LD of the film)
Here’s a list of all the Terminator releases in my collection (that I plan to keep):
The Terminator (1995 THX Laserdisc)
Terminator 2: Judgment Day (1991 Super35 Reframed Laserdisc)
Terminator 2: Judgment Day (1997 Live Snapcase DVD)
Terminator 2: Judgment Day (2015 Lionsgate Blu-Ray)
I never bought any of the post-Cameron sequels and have no plans to.
