Two Words for Disney: PREQUEL REBOOT
Time

Hear hear! I heartily agree with you here. ROTJ is very good.

The opening scene is just great.

The Jabba story is great.

The battle between the Rebels and the Empire at the second Death Star.

The triumph of the Ewoks and the Rebels. Lando shooting out of the Death Star with the famous Millenium Falcon.

The drama of the throne room scene where the Emperor is trying to make Luke angry, seduce him and is constantly patronising him. If you were Luke you would throttle him! But Luke had to go past this anger and conquer it. Especially when Vader said that his sister would turn to the dark side if he didn't. And finally Luke confronting the Emperor and getting electrocuted! And most important of all, Anakin Skywalker finally freeing himself from the one main villian from the entire Star Wars saga and throwing him over the hole to save his son! And also saving himself in the process as he turns back to the Light side.

As for what one other person said. The original and prequel trilogies is about Anakin Skywalker who is the chosen one but ends up going to the dark side. It then takes his son who then grows up and brings him finally back to the light. So its about Anakin and Luke Skywalker with a bit of Leia as well.

The Skywalker family. It is such a good story about the strength and unity of a family against evil.

Two Words for Disney: PREQUEL REBOOT
Time

Guys,

The only problem I have here is that no matter how you change or reboot or create a new prequel trilogy entirely, the basic fact of the prequel story is that it is a backstory to the original trilogy. It is not meant to be filmed. It is a bad decision on George's part to attempt to film it. The backstory is rather a huge story which explains why the original trilogy was so good. If you want to film it, then there would have to be far more than just 3 films to make the story credible. The same with The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings. They are so good because of its even more huge backstory. There is no way you can film the books that predates the two main story (ie. the appendices of Lotr and The Silmarillion etc.).

It is best to just leave the prequel and the original trilogy alone and move on. (Well restoring the Original Trilogy to its original unaltered theatrical version and just clean it up is something Disney can do no problem and release it again in the cinemas and DVD and blu-ray. This would be a MAJOR victory for us after all.) You can reboot the prequel trilogy but how can you cast Iain McDiarmid as the younger Emperor Palpatine again? In my opinion he was (along with Liam Neeson) the best actor. He will not act again and he has grown too old now. He did an excellent job in the prequel trilogy which I think saved it to some extent.

I hope that George Lucas who created Star Wars in the first place and who deserves our respect has finally seen sense and sold it to others to do what they wish with it.

It is now high time for us to petition and persuade Disney to realise our long-held wishes!

I just hope that the next sequel trilogy does not disregard or contradict all the novels and comics that took place after ROTJ.

Plus, has anyone seen the new Star Trek reboot? Not bad eh?! Anything can be done these days. But personally I would not reboot episodes 4 to 6. They are far too good, too original and too classic to be changed at all. I absolutely love episodes 4 to 6 and grew up with them. I can't understand why people don't like ROTJ. It is a fitting conclusion to the whole Saga.

This is why anyone who watches Star Wars must watch the original trilogy first as the main story and then the prequel trilogy next (if they so wish) as a sort of reference films. This is my opinion anyway.

STAR WARS: EP V "REVISITED EDITION"ADYWAN - 12GB 1080p MP4 VERSION AVAILABLE NOW
Time
Hi all,

Just read all the pages in this thread to catch up! After coming into the Ep4 thread pretty late, I'm a bit giddy joining up here when its still in the pre-production stage!

Just wanted to say Ady that ANHR was amazing! And thanks to you for all your hard work! And now on with ESBR, i've seen a few clips and am amazed by the colour passes. Can't believe how criminally blue the pictures are and why did Lucas released this sub-standard rubbish to the public? Profits huh?

Well here goes my few cents on ESBR:

I like all the suggestions thats been going on here so far, many has already been addressed so i won't repeat them. But there are a few other things that i want to share-

1. Not only the tauntaun have jerky movements, the AT-AT and AT-ST walkers have them as well.

2. IMHO the Imperial Walkers reveal should be left alone. i loved it when we first see little rocks falling onto artoo's head as the base is rumbling with some vibrations, then we see the dots in the horizon then we see the walkers in the macrobinoculars. The anticipation and tension is just spot on. The whole Hoth attack scene is one of the best in film history (not just star wars). If anything is changed, even in the best of intentions, it might change things.

3. Luke and Leia kiss. Obviously its up to Adywan but this kiss is in disagreement to all nations and all cultures including the US and UK. And its a U-rated film! I don't think we (especially the Parents amongst us) are comfortable with our kids watching this. I favour a complete cut, but i don't know how that will be done though, even to tone it down.

I remember Luke and Leia sayig in ROTJ that "they've always known" upon finding out the truth. Even though Luke liked Leia in ANH, he never went further than that and so did Leia as something was holding them back. Thoughts anyone?

4. IMHO the rebel fleet at the end is fine. Its just great to see them for the first time at the end of the film and in the Saga. It sort of gave me the shivers somehow. Despite the sad end to the film, there is still hope. Having more ships in would just spoil the scene.

5. At Hoth there are hardly any Star Destroyers surrounding the planet. In the beginning of Ep1 TPM we see a very believable planetary blockade on Naboo. It just seems empty in Ep5 especially when the rebels try to escape we hardly see any other star destroyers and rebel ships.

6. Since the decision has already been made about the windows of the Cloud City I'll mention something else...Doesn't anyone notice that a ship (yes at least one ship!) passes through every single window of Cloud City when we see a window in every scene??? A ship passing through one window is fine but every single window??!! Its kind of like everytime i look out each window of my house, hey presto! A ship flies past it!!!

Even i don't like the interior shots. As someone already said- The suspense suffers from opening the place up and the orange lighting distracts from the white interiors. It also takes away the claustrophobic feel of the original, especially the tension that builds up to Vader and Boba Fett reveal in the dining room.

IMO I don't agree with the extra cloud city scenes. As many fans have said the original ESB is perfect as it is albeit some minor changes. The new extra scenes are just a waste of time. The scene of the Falcon flying through it is just too computer-gamey effects. It spoils the pacing. Even i don't agree with the scene we see of the crowds listening to Lando's announcement that the empire is taking over (heh they're all suddenly looking up at the same time to the same spot in the sky like Lemmings!) What is the point of that scene?! Its again like ILM showing what we can do! Completely unecessary.

As for the sky traffic, don't you think there should be time for the traffic to appear in the sky after Lando makes his announcement? how can it be there so quickly?

7. Lastly about Vader seeing a picture of Padme in his chamber? I don't know if thats in the 2004 DVDs but i'll faint if it is! How lame. It is at least 20 years after ROTS and Vader is well over it! He is deep into the Dark Side and he is 'married' to the force as Palpatine said in the novels (i don't remember which one). The Dark Side of the Force makes you forget the good things in life, your loved ones etc, and when Vader finally turns back to the Light in ROTJ, in the novel he suddenly remembers his Wife...and Obi-Wan too...and Yoda. So putting that picture there spoils the whole thing.

/End rant

Adywan as you mentioned that you wanted a CG Yoda in Ep1, i thought that it has been done by ILM in the latest DVD discs?

Gotta go now to sleep. Till then, the Force be with you!

Sorry Covenant I don't mean to jump start you. I just wanted to contribute to the PIF chain and help out with the members getting a copy of the Purist edition.

It is the first time I'm trying out this strange and alien thing called the 'PIF!'

What's this Luke and Biggs scene? This is the first I've heard you mention this.

(And BTW, I'm still hoping someone with the Purist Edition can PM me so I can get a PIF chain started.)

I just wanted to say that i've finally seen the dvd! I'm probably the last one but wow...wow and wow. Thank you Adywan for bringing this to us all. I enjoyed it alot and will also show to my cousin to see how he reacts!

Erikstormtrooper, i am also waiting for someone to torrent the Purist edition. But are you going to PIF it? I may in turn PIF it to some people i know. Once you're ready then i'll give you a PM.

Dude, this is a FANTASTIC dvd cover man! However did you manage to do it? Did you use Adobe Photoshop to do it or something else? Also how did you get the front and back cover background pictures? Cos i've trawled the internet and cannot find a picture large enough and with enough resolution to use as a dvd cover. Any info would be great man as i have ideas for the cover too.

Hi fellow Starwarzers,

I've been reading this thread with great anticipation and amusement for the last few weeks but have been busy with life so have been away. I am willing to PIF the film as well. So please let me know when it starts and tell me what to do as i haven't done it before. Gorilla and HotRod, I too as well haven't seen the edit (just don't have any time) but am staying patient until i can get a copy of the dvd. Then we will rejoice...

What a cute kitten Corellian77. Swwisshhhh!!! My lightsaber has blocked Focuspuller's lightsaber slash to the kitten. Bannnnnngg i've blocked him!! Correllian77 is sniggering...Me saying to Focuspuller: "go for the kitten? my...how could you??!!!!" "The hate is swelling in you nowwww...."

Now the battle commences with Correllian77 observing from his black high-backed chair......

On a serious note I think Ady deserves a rest now. The project is now complete says he so we should now not discuss edits any more (i've also been following the great flipper debate of 2008 with high amusement - something to tell the grandkids about in distant future...with one on my lap and my grandchild staring up at me in wonder..ahh..).

I was thinking now that we'll all get this dvd copy eventually so we can now do our own edits if need be. Ady has now laid a groundwork from which we can build on. Mojo_la you're ideas are very good and the suggestions you've made are good. So once you get a copy then you can make another version and i'm sure there are others in the forum who would like to see what you can do...(me included!).

Ady, your health, wealth, happiness and family comes first. I've read back that you've put in 14-hour days of work. And now your health is worsening and got tooth ache. You should take a break after the dvd. ESB and ROTJ can wait a year. After all they're only movies that are total fantasies and take us away from the 'real' world. We can watch them to escape from the real world but once finished, its back to the grind.

I know i'm uttering blasphemies here!! No offense, i'm a total star wars nutter like many of you! in fact i may be an extreme nutter (i've read almost all starwars novels etc etc) but i got my priorities where it counts.

Finally I agree with you about the UK though. Politics means to look after the affairs of the people. They should be servants to us. Rather they (the government both local and national) look after themselves. Ady you have friends here now. If there is anything you need (even private dentist) just ask us. Charity starts with the family first then friends. I'm willing to contribute. A cracked tooth is painful indeed. It will stop you from doing what you want in life.

I'd better just shut up now. have been ranting and raving too long here. I apologise if i've offended anybody in advance. None intended, just concerned for Ady.

Bane

ps. again thanks Ady for completing your project. Congratulations once again!!

pss. i'm from the UK too

Molly,

I went to the website you suggested and then clicked on the starwars file. And then i clicked on the 'download this torrent' at the top of the page and then i just downloaded the 133kb file which was useless.

I know i'm no computer expert but i feel like a smegging 50 year old idiot with all the techno gobbledegook that is now in the thread!!

Like others i originally wanted to wait for the dvd's themselves but the temptations of the dark side is proving to much for me. Could you guide me how to download the movie?

Thanks,
Bane

The Force is with you Ady,

First of all i just want to say congratulations for completing your project! Well done Ady. You deserved it. Don't worry about the snags that has just got you. These things happen in life. The good news of the projects' completion far outweighs the bad news of some damn audio problems. heh heh.

Just a thought. It took GL four years to make ANH and TFM from scratch with his entire Lucasfilm and ILM team plus many more. It took you two years to edit the film all by yourself. hmmmm

Good huh?

Hey Guys, what about the dvd covers on this website:

nullhttp://www.prillaman.net/dvd-covers-starwars.html

Just my opinion but i like the "Original Theatrical Release of Trilogy" plus the "Definitive Edition LaserDisc Supplemental Material bonus disc cover"

plus

""Five Star" version inserts, style 1"

What do you think?

Also how about the artwork on the disks themselves: (its about halfway down the page)

Hello and May the Force be with you Adywan!

I am Commander Bane and am new to the forum. I started reading this thread around last week and have tried to read every single page before joining the forum and replying. I can't believe how i've missed this forum for all these years and now am entering late while its almost finished! I managed to read to around page 45 before i gave up and skipped right to the last few pages. To my amazement there are more than 140 pages!! The Force is certainly with your Force-induced work on A New Hope.

I am now joining the Jedi to train in the mysterious arts of the Force. If i discovered this thread before then i certainly would have contributed to the suggestions and advice on your fan edit. But obviously now its nearly finished and so far of all the things that i've read, it certainly is going to exceed my expectations as i've already seen a few of your preview clips.

Finally i am jaw-droppingly amazed at the work that you did on this fan edit and would like to obtain a copy(s) once you've finished. Now i will be really guilty if i don't pay anything for it cos its just not right and would probably tip me a bit more into the dark side. So i want to pay for the finished product - a gesture to appreciate all the hard work that you've done and most important of all...a thank you!

Regards,
Commander Bane
