Thriller - 8/10

In terms of titles I’d say that the official ones are better than any fan made ones I’ve seen so far. Except for some really ridiculous ones, that are somewhat better than the officials.

Frink, that’s true… sometimes you should just back off and say that you’re sorry. If it bothered someone that means that something isn’t right. Just like the drama with DrDre on the TLJ thread.

I’m not very fond of super automatic things or AIs or that sort of stuff. I have Siri turned off on my phone, and I’m not a fan of Amazon’s Echo (Alexa). I may be superstitious (perhaps I was traumatized by HAL), but I just wouldn’t feel safe being in a car where there’s no driver. Heck, if I get nervous whenever insert bad driver is driving me somewhere in the safest road possible, I sure will get really nervous in a driverless car, when there’s no one to trust.

But this is just an anecdote I felt like was worth sharing, although it’s not really relevant. I just assume some other people are going to feel like I do.

This is so depressing. From what I’ve seen they’re the worst organization in the face of the earth. 😕 pretty sad, I went to the aquarium yesterday, saw Soldier Field and actually thought about that. Oh well.

Well I think he has the blue lightsaber to show how he was tooling with Kylo given that Kylo just destroyed that lightsaber the scene before and didn’t even notice it due to how angry he was.

You know he hates Luke.

Again, the different voice actors makes it too jarring. If you want this to happen so badly do it in your own edit instead of constantly telling others to do it even after they’ve said they won’t be using the idea.

Another way to take this is that Luke is no longer our main character. In a movie, audience avatars such as Luke or Neo or Ethan Hunt cannot abandon their missions, cannot have self doubt so severe that they give up on the story, since that sends the clear message that the audience should give up on the story. I think this is where many fans are stuck right now. They still see Luke as the main character, someone who needs to have faith in this story. But the main character is Rey, and it is through her eyes that we are seeing this version of Luke. She is disappointed with this guy, the legend who was supposed to show Rey her place in all this. And that’s exactly why Luke cannot be the legend anymore. He must be a disappointment because otherwise people would continue to see him as the main character, and Rey would never even have the opportunity to carry the weight of the story on her shoulders.

People forget also that this is a mythological convention as old as the hills, and even Star Wars has used it in the past. The father figure becomes the ogre that our hero must slay, for the good of the people. Their time has passed, their rule is corrupted, the young blood must overthrow them. The Last Jedi accomplishes this in spades.

My problem with that is that I didn’t connect with Rey in TFA, which leads me to believe that most, if not all of my problems with TLJ, are TFA’s fault.

Yep, I really enjoyed reading it. Such a positive article. I’m definitely warming up to the movie. I believe it will get better with more viewings.

I believe that was the plan. He’d speak like a regular person because he’d have evolved/matured, but George thought that it’d be a bit too hard to take this huge change and leap forward. Hm yeah that’s true. It’d Sell more toys, all these different character with different lightsaber colors.

The PT never said anything about how the Jedi get their lightsaber or why the color is what it is. They just had different colors.
