That sounds interesting, but wouldn’t work.
BB-8 is damaged during training and her and Poe discuss it.I feel like we could pass off Poe’s comments as “paranoid parent and/or trying to distract Rey from the Falcon” if the scene is pruned carefully. Here’s a rough edit of the scene that I was testing out. (I was also seeing if I could cut out Hux’s spy subplot, so all references to that have also been removed. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ )
I like the idea but you can literally see BB-8 is damaged, don’t think this works
What if Rey’s training course and Force vision came after the scene where Poe accuses her of not doing enough to help the Resistance?
That sounds interesting, but wouldn’t work.

Yeah. Anyway, here’s everything on my radar for V2:
- Green smoke around Palpatine’s throne?
Pleeeeease ❤️
why.
[Visible Confusion]
oh and, that 3 message repeat glitch happened again earlier
You know how Adywan used new models of sets and stuff for his remasters of the original trilogy? Try doing the same with this.
What do you mean…?
I honestly just think the current approach shot there is for castle could be better, just doesn’t seem on same level with the Jedi temple and Naboo shots, I’ll try speak to Jonh about it.
Ideally we’d go from the opening shot with the TIEs heading toward the Destroyer in space, then the castle shot with the inner glow removed, then TIEs heading across the woods, then Kylo.
I think a new shot needs to be made for the castle approach.
Maybe someone could make Desert stylised Luke doll and shoot it on a greenscreen, or recreate the one from The Last Jedi.

Between Coruscant in the background in the the boardroom meeting, Vader’s castle now on Mustafar and Luke’s hair being corrected I am a pretty happy camper when it comes to how V2 is shaping up. However, one very minor idea that has been brought up here in the past that I would love to still see implemented is a recreation of Luke’s stand on Crait in TLJ when the children are gathered around that “mini play” on Pasaana. I was actually pretty surprised JJ didn’t do this in the original cut because it would be so easy to briefly reference the last film and how word of Luke standing up to the FO has spread throughout the galaxy. It also would make the final arrival of the civilian fleet make a little more sense in my opinion. What do you guys/gals think?
Someone mentioned this idea a long time ago, really like the idea of it. I feel like Hal should wait a little while longer before releasing V2.
I don’t know how that idea could be done, you’d need to replace the paper puppet; could be interesting to see something about Luke, you could redub the teacher, and get ‘Luke Skywalker’ in there too.
Using gameplay footage in edits (tbh)
I think the line “Luke is a jedi; you’re his father” from The Force Awakens would work with this a lot better.
Wonderful! I too really like the theory that Leia conjured the Han apparition. My interpretation is that Leia, with Luke’s help, used her remaining life force to conjure Han.

That’s a really great concept; I think its a little rough around the edges but this would be a really nice addition with some touch-ups and slight alterations.
After effects but the main effect rotates so it’s gonna take a lot more work to get right. Not sure I like the fade-out at the end.
The blue part in the middle of Anakin’s blade that we see in episode 2 represents the crystal broken in half, we see it again in TLJ

What software are you using to track that on?
Hello! These are the shots in which it has been possible for me to change Luke’s hair, there are other shots in which it is impossible: a thousand generations … it is impossible, for me at least.
I have also lost two kilos of weight to Luke
Great work as always, I think this is just enough to get the reduction across; those other shots shouldn’t impact it too much when they play back to back.
I think this is the best middle-ground choice possible, though I wouldn’t mind to see the concept art Cinefy posted come to life.
Yeah its essentially just the altered Rogue One shot; I’d happily do it just can’t access the 4k footage atm, may also be able to animate the First Order ties in blender too.
If someone can send a 4k frame/the Vader castle shot from the movie that I sent in the concept, I think I could edit the scene, just would need Popsketti to add the 3 ties in sometime later. My download of Rogue One is only 1080p.
I think best approach would be submerging the castle amongst a large chunk of mist or trees that are either in frame in the distance or out of focus in front of the camera, also think the lava fall needs to go and maybe the castle lights should be out to show Vader’s not home. Should be enough to look significantly different from Rogue One shot.
I’m not at all ruling out a shot of Vader‘s castle to open us up on Mustafar. However, I think at worst it would be just fine to have the castle show up in the background. I think that’s a good inclusion even on its own.
For the Rogue One establishing shot, I think it’d almost need to lose the lava flow to fit in with how the location is portrayed as healing or growing trees now. If there can be chinks or pieces crumbled off, even better. Now, I don’t know if that’s even possible to do. But if it is, I think that may it really feel like it belongs in the scene. We’d follow three TIEs from space and through a couple establishing shots and onto Kylo.
The castle doesn’t need to be seen with forest around it, but I’d feel better about it without lava.
I’d say It’d be important to implement trees unless we tried to make it appear the forest is behind Vader’s castle and add fog/mist out towards the distant area where the forest would be, could then have the Ties fly into the mist and then go on to the overview shot we already have.
Just was looking through the Vader’s castle Mustafar shots in Rogue One since people have brought it up quite a few times about wanting it more included in the opening sequence, don’t exactly see its importance, but I see why its a bit pointless to add in a tiny easter egg thats not expanded on for more than one shot; however it could be possible to reverse this one Rogue One shot and rotoscope out Krennics shuttle; just need to find a good way to implement/track in the forest on the lower portion.
I didn’t have the effects & presets option ticked. This is a game-changer. 😃 What grain settings do you use?
Here’s a second pass

pw: faneditLooking at it now, Maybe the trees should be roto’d but that’s a little out my league for now.
That’s great, lowering the saturation may do it some improvement. Other than that perfect.
I almost wonder if at some point they considered having Luke be physically alive to some extent. Like, maybe Luke could appear physically, as if he achieved an even higher enlightment than the other Jedi. But that wouldn’t explain why they would have to conceal his hand… Very weird. I don’t see why, under any circumstance, they would want to hide his right hand, unless they briefly played with the idea of him having some physical form and they weren’t sure how to depict his right hand.
It was a question they didn’t want to answer or change the continuity of, they could have given him a fresh new hand or given him his mechanical; people asked this same question about Anakin in ROTJ and it was left unanswered think they’re simply doing the same with Luke.
Had that exact same idea for the force world clip last night, I’m sure someone could do it better but it would definitely be cool to see something like this.

I feel like the Luke footage doesn’t really fit there; I was trying to keep this idea very simplistic

And even if jonh did want to add more force ghosts, I’d stick with the four we have. Feels right, and it’s the only Force ghosts we’ve seen in the saga.
I agree, I don’t think we need more ghosts that what we’ve seen; would feel a bit odd.
This probably belongs in the ideas thread for another edit for sorts, but interested to see what you guys think of this.
