  I have finished revamped opening credits still image mock ups with a more distinctive starfield and the new title, (due to their size I have posted the album hyperlink so click to see). I have decided to go with the original white colouring over the Directors cut gold to help reduce the overall creation time of the whole edit while at the sametime be faithful to the source material. The only problem is the only, "Galaxy" font I have been able to find doesn't extend the, "S" and the, "K" if anyone has or can find a version of this font that does please message me the website address. Comments and suggests welcome.

I hope to have the final version of the opening credits completed before early September family matters permitting.

   The other aspect of the opening credits is whether or not and how to incorporate the Kirk dialogue suggested by Ziz in to the opening credit's music. If anyone has any comments or suggetions about this feel free to post them.

Now as this is intended to be a professional fan edit in every sense of the word I have decided to make the following two steps:
  1.This weekend post idea suggestion threads on the six main Trek fan forums, (TrekBBS, Trek United, SFdebris's sub forum, Omega Sector BBS, and Hidden Frontier) for a limited time, (1 month) to gather further ideas, opinions, and feedback to enhance the project.

  2.To include small number of small and sensible links to the TOS & TMP era fan productions that do not go against cannon,(ie: A Federation ship destroyed by V'ger could be a refitted version of the: .U.S.S. Farragut, .U.S.S. Exter, or the primary universe counterpart of the .I.S.S. Sudrian seen in Dark Frontier: Operation Deliverance with the fanfilm's captain providing a quick distress call voice over). Comments and suggests as always are welcome.
  
 Apart from the rules mentioned above I don't want to dictate any aspect of this project so as to not stifle creativity but I would suggest that anyone helping out reads and watches SFDebris's Opinionated TMP reviews when they are reuploaded onto his website and Blip.tv account respectively even if you don't agree with it so you can can help others who do.

  Sorry it's taken so long for me to comment college work has been more demanding then I expected and in order to keep this fan effort simple I am gong to work through this film one DVD chapter at a time.

  The text of the opening credits will be redone over a better starfield using the samer title font and the new film title, "Star Trek In Thy Image" I know the name is taken by another fanedit but I think it is the most suitable name fore the film, (ie: Like Doctor Who fans refre to the 1995 film as, "The Enemy Within").  But I 'm not sure whether the Kirk speech found by Ziz should be included or not. (I will create and post video mockups of both versions asap).

  I'm not sure about this idea of a three way battle. If we left it as it is with the suggested, "Federation weapon" fandub itemphasise's V'Ger's strength early in the film and explains why the Klingon's didn't pursue it or warned Earth, whereas the three way battle is both a very popular idea and would give a secondary reason to Kirk/Decker's arguements about the sheilds but it has the problem of no other pieces of supporting dialogue and the idea three Klingon battleships just merrily trespassing across Federation space which would have been an act of war and I don't want to add a scene of ambassadors talking as it would ruin the ship, (soon to be Starfleet command) large breifing room scene.

Doubleofive could you please create a stll image mockup of the below idea of yours? It would help.

Shortly after the Enterprise sees the communications relay destroyed, they find themselves face-to-face with the V'ger cloud.

They try friendship messages, and Decker tells Kirk about the alternatives.

As we see the icon of the Enterprise headed towards the cloud on the viewscreen, we see Klingon icons appear there, as a voice from another movie says "Klingons!"

[Spock's part about puzzlement from V'ger is cut]

Kirk and Spock look at each other.  "Force fields up full. Deflectors, now."

The viewscreen shows V'ger on one side, with Klingons on the other.

New shots show Klingons firing on the E from behind, damaging it and injuring Chekov and the Warp Engine.  V'ger fires upon the aggressors first, disintegrating them.

Spock realizes that V'ger is communicating in the million Mhz range, and tries to communicate back as the only shot V'ger needs to destroy them approaches.

What do other people think about any of this? 

Brilliant project it's good to see the classic series 1 to 4 getting the, "modern" treatment they deserve, the rest... meh.

  Are you planning to include any of the fan audio narrations?

  I have asked Fanfiltration's permission to take over this fan edit and before I review the suggestions that have been made in the previous 16 pages of this thread here are the four main rules:

     Rules

 1.No references to Enterprise or Trek 11 as they are seperate timelines according tot the three timeline theory and I don't wan t ruin any part of Rodenberry's era if Trek by it's inclusion.

 2.No Enterprise returning from it's five year mission at the start because fellow fans might dismiss it as footage misuse and makes it more acessible for Phase 2 fanfilm fans.

 3.The V'ger, "digitising" weapon v/sfx is to kept as it is one of the very few original non-phaser/ disrupter and or torpedo based weapon systems.

  4.No three way battle as I cannot see how the dialogue can support such an idea.

It is a shame that this project is inactive. I think I'll pm fanfiltration if I can start it up again. Anyhow my first batch of basic ideas, (some developed from suggestions):

1. Replace Epislon 9 exteriors replaced with shorter ones of the Argus arrary.
2. The Klingon/Vger encounter is kept as it is but sped up 2x or 2.5x.
3. The redubbed Klingon speech in the aformentioned encounter reference the desctruction of a Klingon starbaseby the, "Federation weapon" maybe with Klingon subtitles instead of English just to be different. :)
4. Change the name to, "Star Trek In Thyne Image" so it fits in better with those of the other TOS films.

Is this edit still active? I like the ideas that have been suggested and have a few of my own.  If the project needs renewing I will happily help as I think this this an interest and different TMP fan edit . :)
