You expect her to find a new family with the Skywalkers, hence the name, then BAM! EXPECTATIONS SUBVERTED! She doesn’t!

I personally prefer an ending with Rey igniting her saber and then watching the sunset with her saber at hand.
I never want to see the twin suns motif EVER used again in Star Wars.
Wow, that’s an interesting idea and good implementation. I think it’d be weird, though, for a movie called TROS to end that way, though. It’d be a TLJ-style inverted expectation.

I would 100% rather have this DOTF scene be the final Skywalker Saga scene instead of the Tatooine shitfest we were given:
In case you don’t know, in DOTF, the final scene was Rey training a bunch of younglings (including broom boy) on a new planet.
Chase Adams, I did tweak it! Not sure it’s fully dialed in yet, but getting there perhaps.

The audio is actually the hardest part. I might just need to turn the levels down, but finding good audio of Rey saying “just” that matches the tone of the scene is difficult. I scoured all three films! I’ll listen again fresh and tweak it.
Also, I just updated the link with the face morph from the YouTube shot Chase Adams sent. I’ll ask if that person would be willing to share that shot, but if not, I’ll keep going down that path myself and finish it.

Wow, you certainly are quick to respond! Not sure how you do this kind of stuff so fast! I’m glad you liked the clip I found, I think this new piece you made works a whole lot better! Also, did you improve the line “just Rey”? it already sounds better than the first clip. Or am I imagining things?
I think it looks pretty great as is! I’d just saw the line is the thing that needs a little work, the words sound a bit clipped.

Ok, so this idea isn’t done, but it’s a first pass. I really want it to work, but I’m not sure yet. One thing I know is whenever the force ghosts at the end are complete (preferably just Ben in addition to Leia and Luke), we can add those in!

I just noticed this, but in the part with the four jedi standing behind Rey, is that ROTJ footage reused of Obi-Wan? Maybe that could be too recognisable for some people since it’s such a familar shot.
Also reducing details in picture, film grain and original technicolor effect 😄

One thought I had recently regarding the Force ghost Ben angle, why not just Ben and Leia? That way it focuses on them finally reunited, and we don’t have to debate whether Anakin should be involved with this Skywalker family get together.
That’s quite a good idea seeing that Rey hardly even seemed to like Luke, but it might be a little weird that Luke doesn’t visit, seeing that he’s the only character who even remotely has any relevance to the Lars homestead.

Looks great! Can you try to add a bit of a misty, blur effect so that she isn’t in perfect clarity? Because you can sort of tell only the opacity has been turned down.

I remember reading the leaks for that end scene and it said something like:
Rey goes to the Lars homestead alone in the final scene, she uses pieces of Luke and Leia’s lightsabers to merge together into her own yellow one, then buries the remaining pieces. A moisture farmer, (never specified whether they’re male or female) approaches and says “What’s your name?” Rey says “I am Rey, Rey Skywalker!” and then roll credits.
When I read this I was utterly dumbfounded at how ridiculously stupid it sounded but it was so dumb that I knew it had to be true.
When I saw it in cinemas I thought that the film was about to end when Rey, Poe and Finn embrace, then when it showed the Falcon flying over Tatooine I suddenly remembered what I had read and I was majorly pissed off.
Needless to say, I wholeheartedly believe that while I still enjoyed a decent amount of this film, this final scene is without a doubt in my opinion, the all time worst scene of any Star Wars film.
Yeah, Luke looks like he got longer hair and wider since becoming a force ghost in TRoS.

Hey snooker not sure if you saw this post on Hal’s thread but might be something worth looking into!
I’ve been thinking that it might be easier to create a Coruscant shot to replace the Ewok shot in the ending montage by possibly using the removed Star Destroyer matte to add to an already existing Coruscant shot from the prequels.
Here’s a very rough mockup that I did in like two minutes:
By doing this, we can avoid having to go to the trouble of rendering new models that might not fit with the original film’s aesthetic.
If we don’t want to go in this route though, I am more than confident in snooker’s abilities to create something awesome!
It doesn’t necessarily have to be this AOTC shot, but I think the TROS matte might work best!

My only nitpicks would be that in about two shots, Luke and Anakin’s hands look just a little too large.
Also, have you tried to get Anakin in his ROTJ robes yet? It could be interesting to experiment with. 🤔
