Here's my thought on "branding" your set: I like to watch movies, even if they are bootlegs, as if they were not. It detracts from my viewing experience, IMHO, if the fact that it is a bootleg is called to my attention. Therefore, I am inherently against "branding" your version at all. BUT, it is your set, so do whatever the hell you want!

Hmm...I really like it, but I'm not too keen on "MeBeJedi's New Hope" up there. I'd suggest something along these lines:

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v58/chainsawash/MBJ.jpg

I added MAIN MENU in there because if you don't have one you definitely should. Default-selection PLAY MOVIE, next CHAPTER SELECTION, next AUDIO SETUP, and finally COMMENTARY which takes you to the Commentary menu. And I don't think the text is overused, and the STAR WARS logo I used is indeed a font if a font is needed (SF Distant Galaxy Symbols, the number 8 is the vintage STAR WARS logo, the regular letters are Aurebesh in lowercase and Naboo writing in uppercase. SF Distant Galaxy isn't a particularly good Star Wars font, the best for that is Star Jedi, but the Symbols variation is extremely useful).

Of course, it's your baby, and do with it as you please. Personally (and this is another suggestion, do what you want {as if you wouldn't}) I'd make more "normal" chapter names, but that's just me, everyone else seems to like them. I like chapters without names personally and I don't see the point of chapter inserts.

Wow. I want this set. Since I had big problems burning the Balance of the Force Xvid torrent (squished anamorphic video, sometimes-jerky video) I'm wary of getting this as a torrent if you're not going to post VOB files. If you don't I'll get the Xvid, watch it and decide if it's worth buying to replace my Dr. Gonzo set. Saying of which, how much are you going to charge for the trilogy set when you're done, MBJ?

THX-1138 on DVD, please...
Time
Sorry if this has been brought up, but is there anywhere I can find a torrent of THX 1138 anywhere? None (and I mean NONE) of the rental stores near me has it, and I don't want to buy it and then realize I can't stand it (like Kubrick's 2001). Anyone know of a site?

--edit--

Found what seems to be a .torrent of the director's cut DVD, though I just started it and can't vouch for it's authenticity yet.

<Torrent removed as per new forum rules>

It has three files:

Quote

Files:
pme-thx1138dc.avi
pme-thx1138dc.idx
pme-thx1138dc.rar

If anyone can tell me whether this is real or not, please do. There are 12 seeders and 26 leechers. It should be done (if Azureus is accurate) in 16 hours 14 minutes.

--edit again--

Just watched it, and it is indeed the 2004 Director's Cut. Good movie, but it was extremely...odd...while I've never seen the original, I didn't like the CG freeway car chase and those weird monkeys, but it was done a lot better than the Star Wars SE's.

Info on the file:

[pme-thx1138dc.avi]

Anamorphic 2.35:1 (note that this is true 2.35:1, not 1.78:1 with bars on the top and bottom like the DVD would have), XviD video codec, and GSpot identified the audio as "0x0055(MP3) ID'd as MPEG-1 Layer 3" (it's stereo by the way, not 5.1). Runtime 01:28:28, the video itself is 700 MB.

[pme-thx1138dc.idx]

I dunno what the hell this is, if anyone knows please tell me.

[pme-thx1138dc.rar]

RAR Archive containing the subs. Haven't tried them out yet though.

Hmm, good point...maybe edit it quickly so Dooku sticks out his hand, then take the shot of Anakin jumping toward Dooku+Obi-Wan later on and reverse it so it looks like a Force-push, then remove that shot later on so it's a surprise when the lightsaber shows up to block Dooku's and not so built up and obvious.

The only other thing I've heard about CLONE WAR that scares me slightly is Dooku's yellow lightsaber, which - sorry in advance - I find to be incredibly stupid. But I shouldn't judge since I haven't seen it. I know you wanted to make him a less-obviously-Sith character, but taking out everything else you did is good enough, I think, without giving him a ridiculous lightsaber color (again, just my opinion). I'd suggest simply changing the color back to red - IMHO that doesn't instantly make him a Sith, but with the way REVENGE OF THE SITH seems to be going it looks like he's going to have to be anyway. Just my $0.02.

If you're tweaking Clone War, might I make a suggestion if you haven't done this already? I thought that at the end of ROTJ the Force-lightning effect was much more powerful at the end of everything (coupled with "Only now, at the end, do you understand") and having it in the prequels ruined that. Can you somehow remove all of Dooku's (rather annoyingly nonchlant, I might add) lightning? Might not be too easy, but that's my suggestion.

Hmm... think you could bump Clone War up to the 18th? Anyway awesome editing, Magnolia, and of course Rik, you're awesome for letting this out for free. That really is a huge improvement over TPM, however no amount of editing can ever make that film "good" to me. But at least this is adequately passable compared to TPM (which was shit). Again, no offense whatsoever to Magnolia, he did an amazing job, it is a problem in the source material entirely.

One complaint: how many "Hell's," "Bastards" and "Shits" were you planning on inserting into a Star Wars movie? That one film had more swearing than the entire OT! And all by, of all creatures, Jar Jar! I don't mind the first two as much, but JJ's "Oh shit! Oh shit! Oh shit!" during the Battle of Naboo was a little much for me. Not that I mind swearing, Pulp Fiction and Scarface were fuckin' awesome, but not in a Star Wars movie...

--edit--

Oh, and is your torrent of Clone War going to have the corrected opening crawl? I heard the original (Magnolia's original, that is) spelled a word as "seceed" when it should be "secede" and I also heard he made a new version which corrects this. Is that the one you have or not?

Sweet! Getting Balance now!

Personally I find the Farsight anamorphics (as I've downloaded them) to be too washed-out when compared to the original anamorphics. And the missing ROTJ subtitles, well, that's just too big a detail to skimp on. Even though in the original anamorphic versions "Bantha" is spelled wrong (as "Banta", without the H) when Jabba mentions Bantha fodder in the subtitles. Can't remember if this is the case on the Farsight versions or not.

There's a catch on that one. That's not the original poster textless per se, more like the original poster with the text cloned out. It is the exact same poster that USED to be available on a cover at the Prillaman website, and I believe that cover is on Rikter's 200-cover torrent. Since it's cloned out, the actual Hoth landscape looks different than the real poster, as it is merely the parts that were textless duplicated over the parts that weren't. But I think it looks good. And the STAR WARS and EPISODE I covers are the same thing, cloned out, except the STAR WARS one isn't cloned-out-text, it's cloned-out white space at the bottom so it could fill the whole front cover. EPISODE II is the only TRUE textless poster I own. I had cloned out the STAR WARS on the Struzan poster for the SE (not EMPIRE or JEDI) to make the A NEW HOPE variation, but that textless file has since been lost. If it turns up (ha!) I'll upload it as well.

If anyone can get me a TRUE textless JEDI poster, where I don't have to erase Carrie Fisher's midriff and (what appears of) her hips to replace the text, I'd be VERY grateful.

Here are mine, but I'm having problems posting full-res images and will do so as soon as I possibly can. If you can tell, the REVENGE poster has always had Vader with a blue saber and Luke with a red one. I have that version and I made my own personal version that fixes that problem, and when I get the rest up I'll make that one available as well. I can release the green-saber Jedi cover, and MAYBE a green-saber Revenge cover (though I haven't even MADE one or thought of making one until that moment when I thought about it), if there is demand.

Awesomeness. Just one thing: can the files be used in Ulead DVD Workshop 1, or do I need 2? Or another program entirely? I know DVDWS1 doesn't do anamorphic, but 2 does. And I plan on getting DVDWS2 for Christmas, (about when I'll get to the X-Files Season 5 or so torrent at the rate 1 and 2 are going, and S5 is around when they started to be shot in widescreen) so I'll be okay when that time rolls around.

Kay, back. How do you set it so people can download full-resolution images? I'm still a n00b at the Yahoo Photos thing...

EDIT...

It seems only SBC Yahoo, BT Yahoo, Rogers Yahoo (all broadband internet services offered by YH), and Yahoo Plus (looking into that) users can download photos, so it appears I'll have to sign up for Yahoo Plus which I don't want to do as it costs $$$....and to get the free trial you need to enter credit card #, which I do not have access to....so it looks like I'm #$!@ed right now...unless I can figure out a way to get them out to people...or you want a 480x322 pixel version of an originally 3240x2175 pixel image (or something like that). Hehe.

Seriously, folks -- DVD Decrypter is FREE!!!! Go here, and ignore the Nero part (it has ImgTool and DVD Decrypter downloads); it's a guide on how to make a DVD from AUDIO_TS and VIDEO_TS (and i STRONGLY reccomend adding an EMPTY AUDIO_TS folder next to the VIDEO_TS folder if there isn't one BEFORE you make the ISO, for better compatibility with older players, and just to be safe put it in front of the VIDEO_TS because I really don't know if that makes a difference but I've always seen the EMPTY audio folder come before the video folder). That's the same way I did it and all three anamorphic discs work flawlessly.

--EDIT--

Actually reading the tutorial it seems the AUDIO_TS folder is created for you, so ignore that part.

Holy shit...I am now officially definitely getting the official DVDs for the sole reason that they look extremely kick-ass...

And if someone had an original film print and could restore, digitize, and burn it I'd say forget about using the DVD at all and just use that original print. I didn't want pay money for a bootleg set ripped from a laserdisc or something like that because I figured there are so many different versions how the hell am I gonna pick one without risking a serious waste of $$$, so I downloaded the anamorphic set. But if a set was made from original film prints of all three original movies (preferably the 35mm re-release run 1981 Star Wars print, the 35mm original-run Empire print, and the 1983 original-run Jedi print) I would gladly shell out whatever is needed. And if there was a 1977 original-run Star Wars print that would be nice to have as an alternate, but I'd rather have the 81 A NEW HOPE print to better fit with the other three, not to mention it would be easier to find probably. God would that be an awesome day.

Good news! Figured out how to work that Yahoo Photos thingamajigg...I have all my Cerbero alternates up minus the A NEW HOPE one (the STAR WARS one is up), my original TPM and AOTC, and my original STAR WARS, EMPIRE, JEDI, and ANH covers (the Struzan art ones that is) are going up now. Tomorrow I'll put up all the posters and my Cerbero alternate ANH one, and perhaps my Soulflare alternates (if he doesn't mind), and *MAYBE*disc art at some point. But it won't be a whole hell of a lot different than other available disc art I'll tell you.

IF ANYONE WANTS THEM:

EMPIRE without the Star Wars logo added (found earlier in the thread somewhere)
JEDI without the Star Wars logo added (old font)
JEDI with new font and without the STAR WARS logo added

I don't have a new-font JEDI with the SW logo, but I could make one if it is desired.

Oh yeah, linkage...hehe....here. Enjoy.
