That was… interesting.

I appreciate the effort to include the amazing trailer music (you can see my attempt to put it in a different scene here: https://vimeo.com/459982104), but it didn’t fit well IMO and started to become messy with the constant music changes.

The Tantive IV explosion was great! I’d love to see that included in Hal’s edit.

The Force ghosts are a mixed bag. I thought they looked a bit rough (especially Yoda and Anakin who looked like PS3 characters lol) and moved unnaturally. However, I thought the inclusion of Qui-Gon was cool (he’s canonically able to appear as a physical ghost by the time of ANH according to the "From A Certain Point of View book) and if we ever get confirmation that Ahsoka died before TROS and became a Force ghost, I’d love to see her and Qui-Gon added to jonh’s version.

Why does Luke look scared and yell at Rey when she destroys Palpatine? And the Yoda line at 3:02 was hilarious and not in a good way. What even was that? Lmao

It’s a cool alternate version of jonh’s edit and I’d like to see the Tantive IV explosion used, but ultimately I think jonh’s version is still the best by far and an update with Ahsoka and Qui-Gon down the line would be really cool.

I would agree that it’s too subtle for the most part, and from 0:56 and onward it appears that there’s no change.

As for Leia’s saber, I would say work with the default blue version so your work can stand alone as its own edit for others to use in their fan-edits, although it would be great for everyone involved if you were able to do both! 😃

I think it works visually- Rey is struggling to overcome her dark lineage in this movie, and it lines up with her doing stuff like accidentally using Force lightning or striking a fatal blow to Kylo. Plus it’s great when Ben takes the saber because it represents how he’s finally able to use the Skywalker saber he’s always desired and honor the light side of his family lineage, but he also can’t ignore the sins of his past.

I think the size and amount is right, but yes it’s staring too look a little crunchy. I’d say it’s just a bit too sharp, I’m not sure what program or effect is being used but if it’s possible to feather it a bit, make the edges a little smoother less harsh, that’d be ideal (once again look to Kylo’s blade for visual reference).

Sharp! There it is. Couldn’t describe what I was thinking lol. Kylo’s saber’s crackle is a fuzzy, fire-like natural crackle and Anakin’s saber’s crackle in those last few shots look sharp and artificial.

Hmmm… Almost seems a little too subtle and the crackles seem too linear and not random enough.

After going back to both clips and looking further, I see what you mean. In the second clip, you can’t really tell that the blade is meant to be crackly, while the second half looks great. Maybe because the first half has shots from far away?

Regardless, keep up the good work! I’m so thrilled that someone has finally undertaken this huge task! 😃

Agreed! 😄

The Palpatine line sounds wonderful, but I agree that the Kylo line is too quiet and feels out of place. It’s almost like Kylo is shy or something and mumbles the end lol.

And great work again Luka! So glad to see this edit continuing. I especially liked the shot at 0:34 where the two crackling sabers connect for a couple of seconds.

Personally, my favorite part of the crackly saber would be when Ben wields it. I see it as this: He’s been obsessed with his grandfather for a long time, and as we see in TFA and TLJ, he’s desperate to have the lightsaber too. After his redemption in TROS, he finally gets the saber but it’s imperfect and crackly, just like his saber as Kylo. To me, this represents him finally accepting the light side of the Skywalker legacy, but he can’t ignore the sins of his past. So while he gets to wield the object which represents the light side of the Skywalker legacy (Anakin, Luke, Rey), it’s still crackly to show he can’t ignore what he was and what he has done, but can do his best to atone for his past.

This is why it’s the most important edit to me and I really hope it can be completed 😃
