I've thought about it for many months and discussed it with friends, and the only way I see reasonably approaching the backstory while still keeping the bombshells of the OT intact is to make it a sequel series of movies that tells the events of the PT through a series of flashbacks as opposed to a straight forward series of events.
I think that really clears up a lot of issues in terms of storytelling logistics.
I've been working on my own fan-fic version of this, but I think it would be fun to see.
I, too, have many friends who are far more casual SW fans than I am, who have told me that they're tired of all the changes and just want to watch the originals "without all the extra stuff added". The demand is definitely out there, it's just not as vocal as it seems to be in the superfan echo chamber.
I would be very interested in hearing this as well...
I just discovered this site (and the concept of fan edits) just a few days ago, and I have to say I'm really impressed. So I hate to introduce myself by following the trend of requesting the Purist Edition of Revisited, but, well, hey. I found a torrent, but there were no seeds so it stopped at 90%. Anyone help?
