Looks great! TPM is easily my favourite of the PT so I’m very interested to see the final result.

Really hope we get an update and perhaps a release window for the HD version of his ANH…
I am aware of the bad luck that has happened to him over the last… well decade really. I can see why ones motivation would start to drop significantly. But perhaps -hopefully- I’m interpreting the radio silence wrongly.
No problem, I don’t want to be intrusive but I made a little mockup of what I meant:
Without a HUD element: https://ibb.co/gLjG4G7X
With a HUD element: https://ibb.co/9mJXCyHm
I did not mean anything too fancy, basically something that draws your eyes to the action immediately. Either way, it is your edit of course and I totally understand your vision to keep it visually close to the original movie.
(Coincidently I found the exact same image online you used for the SD).
Keep up the great work! Will be looking out for the final version of this.
ok…so this took forever and I was on vacation a week and a half so that delayed it some… but finally made progress. The Treadwell and Luke scene edit is somewhat a little different than shot by shot of the deleted, plus this one has always been a challenge to fit in with that awsome opening scene. I think this works though…bout as good as it can get…hopefully it flows well. as far as the scene, the orginal is kind of boring so I had to improve a little, audio is radio drama and original and the color grade is of course in-line with the other deleted/color from adywan or BLU etc. …not a big fan of the yellowish color tint so I think this fits well with the finished film scenes. Music added as well to help it out… Anyway here it is…moving on next to some edits on the homestead and then off the finish the extended cantina which is a big one

This looks great! Can I make a small suggestion for the binoculars shot? The Tantive and SD probably would be covered in atmospheric haze. Perhaps making these elements a bit more translucent and blended into the sky, it would look more like a shot from space. Perhaps even a HUD element that tracks the ships in the binoculars? Minor things, of course as I can only imagine the immense amount of work it took to clean these shots.
…Alright steering this back on topic 😄
Something i promised to show a while ago but ended up completely forgetting about, was the shot of Luke’s shuttle escaping the Death Star. So here it is:
Original version:
Revisited Version:
That shot took a hell of a lot of work. I had to slow down the gantry and other elements, yet keep the camera movement and the shuttle at the original speed, then track and add the new background. Couldn’t use the original stars to track because they suddenly stop their movement before the end in the original.
Should we not be able to see Endor in the reflection also…?
I think this is actually a great question, oh_riginal, so I hope this doesn’t get overlooked. I didn’t have a problem with it at first as I feel the forest moon is sooo far off in the distance that we wouldn’t see its reflection? But, I rethink that when I see a picture such as the following of a mountain where, even though it is far away, we still can see its reflection on the lake (granted, the distance between the forest moon/DSII is greater than the mtn/lake):
So really I’m not sure, lol, but I am leaning more towards “yes we should”. Maybe someone who definitely knows the science behind reflections can reflect on this and let us know? 😄 Or are you confident that it would, oh_riginal?
I know, this is a fantasy/sci-fi film, but getting even small details like this right is a very nice touch and does help with the immersion that this is all happening and “real”, imho 😃
I don’t think it should be visible because the hangar floor is “above” the planet. In the image you used as reference, the mountains rise higher than the lake. So I think the (the lack of planet) reflections are valid, the floor should reflect things that are “above” it, not below, from our point of view.
It was the timing of the sound and the sequential timing of the exterior and interior shots I was more concerned about.
Yeah, Threepio says ‘What’s that?’ and we hear distant sounds of metal on metal, as if it was those clamps locking onto the ship. Then we see the Rebels looking up and more of those distant metal clanging sounds. However, the next shot is still the ship being pulled into the Star Destroyer hangar with no hint that anything has physically interacted with the ship. We then hear more sounds, this time presumably the sounds of an umbilical passage being brought to the Tantive’s hatch, then the Tantive hatch is sliced with lasers.
The problem here is that the shot of the ship being pulled into the docking bay is out of place. It seems like it should go after Threepio says ‘This is madness!’. Then there would be no exterior shots of what is happening, and the viewer would be left to imagine it based on the sounds within the ship.
I always assumed it was the hull of the ship creaking because of the tractor beam and perhaps some blast doors in the Tantive being forced shut to slow down the inevitable boarding of the vessel by troops. In universe, a tractor beam would seem like a powerful type of energy to do such a thing. In Andor season 1 when Luthen is being pulled by the Imperial Cantwell-class Arrestor Cruiser (I had to look that up), you also hear metal thuds and creaks as he is trying to escape their tractor beam. Just my view on it, of course.
Ady has been planning this edit for at least seven and a half years. I doubt anyone can say anything he hasn’t already considered, or hasn’t been mentioned in this thread over the last 150 pages.
Aye, I understand that and I’ve been following the project since before the release of his ANH (just not on this site so yes, it might have been discussed in the earlier 149 pages). His edit ‘philosophy’ so far has been to do better colour grades, enhance the SFX and somewhat revert the SE changes. It’s not listed in his initial post for VI that he wishes to alter the Tatooine part besides getting rid of the horrible SE additions, fix SFX and goofy stunt work. Also no mention of adding deleted scenes (which I believe would be near impossible at this moment, even with the current A.I. tech around).
So yes, it’s an honest question really, I was not trying to police the conversation here, sorry if it came across that way 😃
Is this even relevant to the Revisited edit? I don’t recall Adywan intending to heavily cut the movie up like this and adding any of the deleted scenes at all?

Han’s screaming stopped when he came face to face with the troopers. The screaming was more scare tactics as he was chasing them rather than fear. And Han looks back to shoot at the following troopers as they run away. The origina IMO works so much better.
Sorry I explained it wrong, I meant his entire reaction and panic expression to the full hangar. You are correct that the screaming stopped. My opinion stands though, that it just works a bit better logically and the flaws (helmets and compositing) you mention are blink-and-you’ll-miss errors.
BUT! I of course respect your decision to revert back to the original. Despite this, I’m sure your edit will remain my only viewing of ANH (like it has been with Empire:R and the SD version of ANH you released so long ago).
Sounds interesting, I could use some nostalgia, can I also get a link? Much appreciated and thanks for your hard work!
Hi,
Is anyone planning on editing this visual masterpiece without the cheap jumpscares?
I was blown away by this movie in a very positive way by both cinematography and audio. It would have been a masterpiece if they did not resort to jumpscares so much. There are only a few that are well timed and appropriate but most feel cheap to just serve as a cut to the next scene.
SPOILERS:
The one where the blonde girl puts the children to bed and stands in the dark hallway only to turn around and see Ellen standing there is an example of a good jumpscare. Though the audio effect can also be lessened and rely only on the visuals.
Apart from that one, they can all go, imo, they serve no other purpose than to do the lowest form of ‘horror’: the peekaboo.
Anyway, here’s me hoping to find a talented individual who feels the same way and would love to make a cut of this movie done with a bit more taste and respect for earned suspense and horror. I would gladly look forward to it.
Imo, Han his panic screaming reaction does seem a bit more justified when walking into a full hangar of troops. Pretty sure he and Chewie never stopped to look back and count how many followed after they bolted it. For me personally, the full hangar is one of the better changes in the SE…
Great update on the work, Adywan, thanks!
Welcome back, Ady, hope you are doing fine! That Death Star shot is insane. Love the red scaffolding (?) restored to their original colours.
Rather vague description of your intents. Can you give specific examples?
I’d love to see your edit, thank you!

At the end of the day, the worst part of that shot is when Lando seems to walk outside the reach of the stage lights 😂, I wonder how adywan’s gonna fix that.
Maybe have him walk ‘under’ something like a parked B-Wing if he decides to ‘fix’ the matte painting (just a random thought). But perhaps there are easier solutions.
The addition of the Ghost is really a nice nod. However, I don’t know if Ady would consider this as I do not think he is including additions outside of OG trilogy now. I think the battle droid easter egg from the sandcrawler in ANH is going to be removed for the HD release too. I would love for the Ghost to be included though if possible.
I hope he leaves it in, it’s a very harmless easter egg imo. If you have never seen the prequels, it’s just another droid head and it’s not drawing any special attention.

You can give me back my beer now xD
Depends on the beer :p
Great analysis, cheers! It was a bit too simplistic how I presented it, I admit. I just always “felt” the SSD was way too small in that impact shot. Your math confirms it. For the SSD be that size in the shot and from that camera point, it would definitely crash beyond the ‘horizon’. Not an exiting angle so I’m curious what Ady will do.
Sorry if this has been addressed before but Ady mentioned he will make a better SSD Executor crash into the Death Star II. Will you fix the scaling of them? DS II is way too huge in this shot.
Using data I found online I made a quick mock-up of how the DSII curvature should look as the Executor crashes into it.

Hope you will consider this, if not, no problem!
Fantastic work on all of it, Ady, thanks! With your focus back on Episode 6, does that mean your work on 4 is (nearly) done? Looking forward to the release!
Thanks Adywan, for your devotion and hard work to bring us the ultimate ROTJ (and ANH) version.
I am personally a big fan of the Rogue One movie. It was entertaining and I went into the cinema unspoiled so the big surprise to me was the reveal of Vader and that the movie ends “5 minutes” before ANH starts. Real fun!
I have only two things I’d alter if I had the abilities to do so:
Missed opportunity, imo but apart from that, wonderful movie that surely will be an enhanced experience when Andor season 2 concludes.
It’s ok, i just loaded up an older version of the file when i was doing the comparisons for the gifs. The reflections are there in the main edit timeline:
I’ve replaced the incorrect version with the correct one in the original post.
That looks fantastic, and the extra clip of the Falcon’s escape too. Very excited to see the final full movie.
I am so ready for this. Been following the project since the start and can’t wait to replace the SD version with your final vision of ANH. I know it’s a bit early, but how much of ROTJ:R do you consider already done at this point?
As requested I will give some feedback!
First and foremost, wonderful job on the edit, it cuts a lot of the cringe and unnecessary bits. The colour grading is fantastic without it feeling too saturated or bright (some edits do go a little overboard in that regard). The movie flows way better and the death of Val is MUCH more emotionally laden this way. I never liked her sacrifice, it seemed out of place. This works a lot better.
Only thing I would change is the introduction/ beginning of the movie:
It’s a minor issue and the movie works like it is now too, but perhaps you consider the idea.
Last thing is I hope maybe you will also consider making a smaller file size closer to 3-4GB.
Thanks anyway, I really enjoyed the movie this way and it will be my main viewing of Solo from now on.
