The Return of Six Degrees of Star Wars

Sean Patrick Flanery (Suicide Kings) Henry Thomas (Legends of the Fall) Brad Pitt (The Devil's Own) Harrison Ford.

No IMDb and, yes, it was easy. I know people have been using Harrison Ford in ET but since it's not listed in IMDb officially as even a deleted scene (and IMDb does list deleted footage appearances), I'm not going to use it. You guys still can if you want, I prefer not to.

Any chance you know where to find that on the web?

I dunno if he's kicking himself. If it was still a part of LFL, I don't think the studio would be where it is today. I don't think it would have received the necessary resources ($) to complete a picture the way they wanted. The only reason that Pixar is the studio it is today is because they were cut free of any real oversight. They were left alone to be as creative as possible and they had a boss in Steve Jobs who is renowned for allowing his employees to think waaaaaaayyy outside the box. Lucas, not so much.

What made Boba Fett so popular was the mystery surrounding him. When he made his first appearance, it was as a special send-away toy after ANH came out and before ESB was even close to ready to go. (No, I'm not including his appearance in the Holiday Special). All of a sudden, there were stickers on the carded figures showing this guy in this grey/blue armor outfit with a pretty damn cool helmet and weapons and swooping downward on a jetpack. No one knew who he was or what side he was on. But they wanted the figure as it was part of the SW canon. Then we see him for short bits in ESB as he is the one person that was able to track down Han and take possession of his carbon frozen body. I still think it was Boba that tracked Han down and called in the Empire although some people argue that the Empire tracked him down. BS.

His voice is also very cool (pre 2004 DVDs) and very underused leaving you wanting to know more about him. Then, after the OT was finished, all this EU stuff came out alluding to previous encounters between Han and Fett and even postulating that they are somehow related. There was all kinds of speculation.

Here's some interesting stuff. Pretty much a no brainer, but still interesting to read...

Studios speed up DVD release dates amid slowdown

Driven in part by concerns about a potentially slow DVD summer, the studios are ratcheting up release schedules for August and September, in some cases pushing out titles significantly earlier than under normal patterns.

"Guess Who," for example, recently was slotted for an Aug. 2 release by Sony Pictures. That's just 130 days after the film, which earned $67.1 million at the box office, opened in theaters. It's also two weeks shorter than Sony's average 144-day theatrical-to-video window.

Similarly, Paramount has scheduled "Sahara," which earned $61.7 million in theaters, for an Aug. 30 release, 144 days after its big-screen bow. Paramount's average window during the past eight years for films with theatrical earnings of at least $25 million is about 167 days.

"The fact of the matter is, the closer a video release is to a film's theatrical opening, the higher the awareness and, generally, the better the sales," said Thomas Lesinski, worldwide president of home entertainment at Paramount Pictures.

Indeed, during the past few years, theatrical-to-video windows have steadily shortened. So far this year, the average window for titles with box office earnings of at least $25 million is about 139 days, according to the DVD Release Report. That's down from 146 days last year, 153 days in 2003 and 171 days in 2002.

Several underperforming titles this year are coming to DVD at breakneck speed. Warner's "Miss Congeniality 2: Armed and Fabulous" and Sony's "XXX: State of the Union" are coming to DVD in the summer, less than 88 days after their theatrical debuts. And 20th Century Fox's "Flight of the Phoenix" hit DVD in March, a scant 74 days after its December opening in theaters.
