Ahhhh... that explains it. May have to look in the back of the DVD player again and pray the whole thing doesn't come tumbling down. That's the damnable thing about entertainment centers, you hook 'em up once and pray you never have to go back there as everything is set up so tentatively.

Green, let me know about BSG.

It's kinda funny because this is kinda how I thought it would be. I really expected myself to start to slowly break down. It is Star Wars, after all. But I haven't. I don't even look longingly at the box set in stores. To be honest, I've never even picked the box up off the shelves. This is a level of resolve I've never before seen in myself. I'm proud of me.

Beer: Revisited
Time
Couldn't find the old thread and the settings wouldn't take me back far enough to find it.

However, I needed to post here for my other fellow Illinoisan (whose username is eluding me at the moment), that I found Smithwicks in the suburbs. It was at a new place called The Fresh Market. We have a couple out here now that both went up in the last year. Dunno if there are any in Rockford area, but if you are willing to make the trip, you can find one in Geneva at the Geneva Commons on Randall Road just a bit south of Route 38.

Surround Sound Setup Help
Time
There are several of those questions that I will have to look into when I get back home today. I do know that I have C.ST.EX as one of the settings available to me. Actually, I have A-C available. As well as NORM.SURR and others. Most of my stereo components are hooked up via RCA cable to their indie inputs in the back. The DVD player is hooked up via RCA as well only because it's an older model DVD player that didn't have RGB or optical available. My RGB ready DVD player is hooked up in the bedroom only because it is a single disc player whereas this older one is a five-disc changer and is nicer to use with the stereo for CDs and/or DVDs loaded at the same time (my wife prefers this).

However, I did do some reconfiguring and did get sound out of both rear speakers now. However, the receiver only recognizes them as one lump Surround setting instead of allowing me to configure each one as its own speaker (surround left and surround right). But at least they now have sound. That is a step in the right direction.

Also, the Google ads are pretty smart. When I opened up this thread to type this message, the ad was for Orb Audio. Not bad.

Surround Sound Setup Help
Time
Okay guys, this from someone who knows nothing about surround sound setup. I have a Sony STRDE485 Receiver and have my five speakers hooked up. For several years, while living in an apartment, I had only three of them hooked up because we could never properly mount the rear speakers. Now that we have our own place, we want them hooked up and I have them all plugged in and all that jazz. However, I am getting no sound whatsoever from either of the rear speakers. What can be done? I've read the instructions and wiped the receiver's memory in hopes of that working, but it doesn't. Every time I try to set the speakers in terms of distance/height/size settings, the receiver display keeps telling me that the rear channel is "not used." Help.

I hate stereos.

I was debating using Olivera, too. C'est la vie.

It would be easy as hell using Bewitched (MO - Bewitched - Will Ferrell - J&SBSB - Hamill/Fisher), but that doesn't come out for a couple more weeks, so...

Mina Olivera (Got Papers?) Nicholas Guilak (Double Deception) Udo Kier (Barb Wire) Temuera Morrison --> Jango Fett/Clonetroopers/Boba Fett's new voice in ESB/you name it

From the homepage a couple days ago... Shannon Lucio.

How does this sort of thing get "policed"? Does Jay read the alleged offender's posts and make a determination? Or does it depend who's reporting it? Just curious...

Also, there's well over a thousand registered forum users, but God knows how many lurkers. This shouldn't surprise anyone.

I don't think DanielB's ousting had anything to do with Dayv directly. He had been pissing off a bunch of people in the preservation section. Some people there called him "worse than Jimbo." Hard to believe, but since I'm hardly in the preservation section, I guess it's possible. I think Zion, who is a mod on this forum, had him ousted.

Jimbo was the subject of several PM complaints to Jay who started monitoring his posts. He gave him several warnings and then a time-out ban. I think that lasted about a month. Then he came back and was good for a little while before he started in on his bashing. Jay was alerted again and he watched and warned yet again. Then he IP banned him for life.

What? Did you think the just poofed into existence (Vader and Fett) as young men and started killing people?

That's funny, Chaltab. Thanks for the laugh.

I hear Han Solo was a sweet young boy who was respectful to his elders and enjoyed bounding around in fields of hypergalactic lillies on Correllia.

Clubbing
Time
But there are many bars and nightclubs that prohibit those under the legal drinking age from entering the establishment. This is not a nationwide law, but usually something determined more by the city in which the bars are located. DeKalb, IL, where I went to college, wouldn't even allow people into liquor stores if they were underage. I like the rule myself. Keeps bouncers more aware and they don't have to keep an eye on underage people once they are inside to make sure they're not drinking beverages purchased for them by a legal friend. I don't see any reason for someone who is underage to need to be in a bar or nightclub. They have clubs for underage kids and there are plenty of other activities to take part in. Why would you need a bar?

Chaltab, I'm supportin' you, man. No need to worry about clubbing. Don't let Shimmy go trying to influence you.
