Yeah yeah yeah. But the White Sox haven't won since 1917 either. Although they don't blame it on a curse. Just crappy ballplaying.

Yes, we blew up the Bartman Ball. Some help it was. However we are currently cleaning house. We have bought out the options on Moises Alou and Mark Grudzielanek (as of yesterday). That means we might keep Todd Walker as our full-time second baseman and maybe we're freeing up funds to make a run for Beltran and resign Garciaparra. That would be sweet. Now, just cut loose Sosa. Please...

A response to the "They're His Movies" arguement
Time
It still stands, though, that in the cases of all those hypothetical arguments in the first post on this thread, those are all criticisms of the original work for which a revision of the work does not exist. In the case of SW, Lucas originally released the movies to the world in one form. A form which stood for nearly 20 years in the case of all three films, before being changed. That's 20 years of being ingrained in the public consciousness. He has a duty to preserve those versions for the people who grew up and loved his films for those 20 years and gave him the financial backing to be able to go back and revisit them. He can change them all he wants, I don't care. They are HIS movies and he can do with them as HE pleases. Just make sure you preserve what the public knows as well. If he had never released the films in the original version, this would be a non issue. But he did and therefore he needs to preserve them for the sake of the fans and, even more importantly, for the sake of film history.

If he cannot see the whole film history argument, then his film needs to be removed from the AFI Top 100 list as the version that was voted on to that list no longer exists in his words. Check the AFI list, it says "(1977)" after Star Wars. Not "(1997)". Not "(2004)".

I like pro ball sometimes. Watching last year's Pistons was incredible. They were a team. Last year's Lakers, while good, were not a team. They were a bunch of individual personalities clashing on and off the court and that's what ruins pro sports these days. That's why the Lakers imploded and the Pistons trounced them.

Same thing with this year's Red Sox. They were more a team. They were the self-proclaimed "bunch of idiots" (as dubbed by Johnny Damon and perpetuated by the entire team). It helps to do something that eliminates that whole feeling of me me me and replace it with we we we (and if someone makes reference to a toilet or types in "all the way home", I will be very upset).

You weren't an ass. I just wanted to make sure you saw the date of the article I linked.

Just sit back and accept that fate was on Boston's side.

Now let's hope for a trifecta... New England Patriots won the Super Bowl in 2004 (granted it was the 2003 season, bear with me), Red Sox win the World Series, Democrat Senator John Kerry from Massachusetts becomes the next President. Things like this always work in threes.

James, Darth Vader is actually, I wanna say Dutch, for Dark Father. That is the literal translation. Works even better than Dark Invader.

For those wondering about Lobot, yes, he is somewhat cybernetic so the Lobot=Robot thing works as Buddy states in another post.

Lando... Orlando is a name that I've seen several times and Lando could be a derivation thereof. Orlando Jones and Orlando Bloom the actors. And, of course, the city of Orlando in Florida. Maybe Lucas had an affinity for Disney World when he named the character.

Cool thread, James.

It's not. There is still a gap between the two candidates with Bushie in the lead, but the gap isn't nearly as large as it was before the debates. But preliminary polls mean nothing when it comes down to the real thing. Honestly, I don't even know why people bother with polling before the actual election. There is no point. They never get a truly representative sample of the population. It's pointless.
