Star Wars: <strong>The Rise Of Skywalker</strong> Redux Ideas thread
Time

Saw it twice. It redeems the sequel trilogy some.

I do like the idea of making tfa go mostly as a single movie and then have a break and then move in to tros. Star killer base can be minimized as a new more powerful death star and basically make it a base. Also, foreshadow the heck out of the sith. Perhaps the tfa scroll can include a reference. Perhaps this is what Leia is “resisting” and the rest of the new republic does not believe her. Use the image of the exogal base as a foreshadow when snoke is talking. Make snoke and Palatine more in on it. Snoke is palps new apprentice perhaps.

Also palps created Anakin and Rey is Anakin 2.0. this is the best. Perhaps the two people were not his parents and palps son perhaps they were the caretakers. Palps created the Skywalker line. Palps created Rey too hence she is a Skywalker.

Some of the minor things like chewie medal could be put in tfa.

Stuff to save from tlj, all force Skype and Rey training. I am sure there will be other critical areas too.

RogueLeader's Rogue One Edit (* unfinished project *)

Am I alone on this? I think the Vader hallway scene should be cut. It is bad ass, I see why many want it. As this scene actually takes place chronologically during the beginning of episode IV, I think it should not be in R1. I have seen some creative edits of IV that incorporate the R1 scene into episode IV. I prefer that.

That said, I think the opposite could be done too. Incorporate that initial episode IV scene into the end of R1. This could be done well, then IV could open with them saying several pods ejected but there were no life signs. Vader saying they must have hid the plans in the the pod send someone to collect the plans.

In this era of new star wars films they seem to be using a marvel style end scene to drum up excitement for the next movie. I personally don’t like it for star wars movies. My personal preference would be to add the R1 end scene to IV and Luke at the end of VII to VIII and if the broom kid makes a difference add that to IX.

I really like what you have done here. I do think a jarring wake up right after she holds the lightsaber out and luke spins to see her is critical to bring it all together, it can just be a zoom in with her eyes snapping open. Then R2 can “wake” and then Rey can be in that meeting with the map because she already is awake and the following scene will establish how she will get there to Ahch-to.

Idea: A simple ANH and RotJ idea
Time

The special effect when the deathstar 1 hits Jedha in Rogue One and it has this ripple and explosion out into space and it takes a bit of time. I can imagine it looking something like this.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z79nF8m49FA

Granted the immediacy of the explosion in Episode 4 works in the movie’s pacing. It goes from about to fire on the rebel base and everything is great to particulate covering a massive amount of space.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OyAohfiMsF4

And in RotJ it blows up in much of the same way but improved effects over Episode 4.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XB1DdtdUAG0

Still though with special effects as they are today, neither of these explosions would have looked as they did back then today. “Devastating” the deathstar 1 in Episode 4 and having the Empire rebuild it seems a logical thing rather than starting from scratch, fixing all the weaknesses that Galen Erso built into the design.

Also, even in Episode 2 which takes place many years prior to Episode 4, they have the deathstar 1 plans.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7ZpZzGOjRrc

And in Episode 3 you see the thing being built.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DCoZItw93sQ

The point is that this took many years to design and construct, it is only completed during Rogue One which is immediately before the start of Episode 4. When did they start the deathstar 2? How did they get it online so quickly? In my mind it really makes sense to have the deathstar 1 being rebuilt as the deathstar 2 considering the time investment involved in the design and construction of it.

Idea: A simple ANH and RotJ idea
Time

I was discussing with a coworker of mine, as my coworker and I are huge star wars fans, so we speculate and talk random ideas. One of the things we talked about is the Deathstar 1 and the silly explosion at the end of ANH. Also, about when the Deathstar 2 (bigger badder and more powerful) was initiated being built and how long it would have taken to build. We both came to the realization that it would have made a lot of sense that the Deathstar 1 could have been the Deathstar 2 and it was being retrofitted at Endor. So when Luke “blows up the Deathstar” he actually cracks it like an egg and pieces of it fly out into space, virtually destroying it.

Here is where this begins to fall apart some. So, the empire somehow gets the remnant of the Deathstar and hauls it to Endor, to begin fixing it. Meanwhile, they do this under the nose of the rebels at Yavin. The rebels we do see fleeing to another hidden base on Hoth in ESB. So maybe, after the awards ceremony the rebels decide the empire has other resources that the emperor will send their way so they flee leaving the destroyed remnant Deathstar. This opens up the opportunity for the Empire to gather it up and take it to Endor for repairs.

Any hell no, that won’t work? Or hell yes, that is pretty clever?

The space battles and lightsaber duels are in 8 for sure, but the more interesting training and luke things happen in 7. So, if the bang boom stuff is what makes a great star wars film for you then I can see that it may seem that 7 is inferior, honestly I think 7 would be the stronger film and 8 would be stronger than what we currently have for 8 too.

Also, to the notion that the ending of 7 would not have enough oomph. I am not so certain. Yoda and burning the tree and so on, this could be pretty dramatic. It also opens up the possibility of a year between movies. It offers the potential to have Rey training during this time to show she earned her mastery and expertise, prior to them meeting on the surface of Starkiller base. Conceptually I really like that.

VII

Opens over the planet Jakku, goes down to meeting a scavenger named Rey. We learn about her life. Rey encounters a mysterious droid named BB-8 near the junkyard settlement where she lives. Finn, a former stormtrooper on the run, encounters Rey and BB-8, but the First Order is tracking BB-8 and launches an airstrike. Finn, Rey, and BB-8 flee the planet in the Millennium Falcon, which they steal from the junkyard settlement.

Somehow the falcon escapes the First Order ship in orbit. They want to take the droid to the resistance. But they are captured by a larger ship piloted by Han Solo and Chewbacca, looking to reclaim the falcon. The crew ditches the larger ship and travels to the planet Takodana in the falcon.

The Falcon crew determines BB-8’s map is incomplete. Han explains that Luke attempted to rebuild the Jedi Order but exiled himself when an apprentice turned to the dark side, destroyed the temple, and slaughtered the other apprentices.

On Takodana they meet with cantina owner Maz Kanata, who offers assistance getting BB-8 to the Resistance. Rey is drawn to a secluded vault and finds the lightsaber that once belonged to Luke and his father, Anakin Skywalker. She experiences disturbing visions and flees into the woods. Maz gives Finn the lightsaber for safekeeping.

At the First Order’s Starkiller Base, a planet converted into a superweapon that harnesses star energy. Snoke questions Kylo’s ability to deal with emotions relating to his father, Han Solo; Kylo says Han means nothing to him.

The First Order attacks Takodana in search of BB-8. Han, Chewbacca, and Finn are saved by Resistance X-wing fighters led by Poe Dameron. Leia arrives at Takodana with C-3PO and reunites with Han, Chewbacca, Rey, and Finn.

At the Resistance base on D’Qar, BB-8 finds R2-D2, who has been inactive since Luke’s disappearance.

R2-D2 awakens and reveals the rest of the map, which Rey follows to the oceanic planet Ahch-To. She finds Luke and presents him with the lightsaber.

Meanwhile, Rey arrives on Ahch-To with Chewbacca and R2-D2 aboard the Millennium Falcon to recruit Luke Skywalker to the Resistance. Disillusioned by his failure to train Kylo as a Jedi, and under self-imposed exile from the Force, Luke refuses to help and believes the Jedi should go extinct. Unbeknownst to Luke, Rey and Kylo communicate through the Force, puzzling the two enemies. As Rey and Kylo learn about each other, both have visions of themselves as future partners.

R2-D2 persuades Luke to train Rey. After Kylo tells Rey what happened between him and Luke that caused him to choose the dark side, Luke confesses that he momentarily contemplated killing Kylo upon sensing that Supreme Leader Snoke was corrupting him, causing Kylo to destroy Luke’s new Jedi Order in retaliation. Convinced that Kylo can be redeemed, Luke prepares to burn the Ahch-To Jedi temple and library, but hesitates. Yoda’s ghost appears and destroys the temple by summoning a bolt of lightning, claiming Rey has all she needs to learn, and encourages Luke to learn from his failure.

End VII

VIII
Opens with starkiller base.

Meanwhile, Kylo captures Rey in a forest on Ahch-To and takes her to Starkiller Base, but she resists his mind-reading attempts. Discovering she can use the Force, Rey escapes by using a Jedi mind trick on a nearby guard.

As Starkiller Base prepares to fire on Hosnian/D’Qar, the Resistance devises a plan to destroy it by attacking a critical facility.

Using the Falcon, Han, Chewbacca, and Finn infiltrate the facility, find Rey, and plant explosives. Han confronts Kylo, calling him by his birth name, Ben, and implores him to abandon the dark side. Kylo refuses and kills Han, enraging Chewbacca, who shoots Kylo. Starkiller Base fires and destroys the Republic capital star system and a portion of its fleet. Chewbacca sets off the explosives, allowing the Resistance to attack and destroy Starkiller Base.

The injured Kylo pursues Finn and Rey to the surface. Kylo defeats Finn in a lightsaber duel, leaving him badly wounded. Rey takes the lightsaber and uses the Force to defeat Kylo before they are separated by a fissure as the planet begins to disintegrate.

Rey and Chewbacca escape with the unconscious Finn in the Falcon. Snoke orders Hux to bring Kylo to him.

Following the battle of Starkiller Base, On D’Qar, the Resistance celebrates while Leia, Chewbacca, and Rey mourn Han’s death. Leia leads Resistance forces to flee D’Qar when a First Order fleet arrives.

Poe Dameron attacks the First Order dreadnought, but after the Resistance escapes to hyperspace, the First Order tracks them and attacks the Resistance convoy.

Kylo Ren, Leia’s son, hesitates to fire on the lead Resistance ship after sensing his mother’s presence.

Meanwhile, Kylo brings Rey to Snoke, who says he facilitated the mental connection between her and Kylo as part of a plan to destroy Luke. Ordered to kill Rey, Kylo instead kills Snoke and defeats Snoke’s guards alongside Rey. Rey believes that Kylo has returned to the light side of the Force, but he instead invites her to rule the galaxy with him. Refusing, she fights Kylo for possession of Anakin Skywalker’s lightsaber, which splits in two.

Leia allowing the evacuation to begin. Holdo remains on the ship to mislead Snoke’s fleet as the others flee to an abandoned Rebel Alliance base on Crait. The evacuation transports are slowly destroyed.

Holdo sacrifices herself by ramming Snoke’s fleet at lightspeed; Rey escapes in the chaos. Meanwhile Kylo declares himself Supreme Leader.

When the First Order arrives, Poe and Finn attack with old speeders. Rey and Chewbacca draw the TIE fighters away with the Falcon. The First Order siege cannon subsequently penetrates the Resistance fortress.

Luke appears and confronts the First Order to enable surviving Resistance members to escape. Kylo orders the First Order’s forces to fire on Luke, to no effect. He then engages Luke in a lightsaber duel; upon striking Luke, Kylo realizes he has been fighting a Force projection of him. Rey uses the Force to help the Resistance escape on the Falcon. Luke, exhausted, becomes one with the Force and dies peacefully on Ahch-To. Rey and Leia sense his death, and Leia tells surviving rebels that the Resistance has all it needs to rise again.

End VIII

I agree with the sentiment that TFA and TLJ are just too busy with the character focus being all over the place. I was thinking about this and comparing ANH and TFA and where the character focus is, it is clearly on Luke in ANH. Other than the initial droid bit in ANH the focus is on Luke for the good guys. Luke goes and discovers Old Ben, we do not get a back story scene prior to meeting Solo or Ben or Leia for that matter. Well we kinda get one for Solo with the Greedo scene, but that takes place after Luke and Ben talk to him in the bar. Their backstories show up through the dialog with Luke. Geez, ANH is such a good movie.

Also, to Luke’s scenes there is also the foil of Darth Vader. The foil in TFA is Kylo.

I think an excellent edit would be to cut out the back stories of Finn and Poe, at least initially. Maybe open the movie with Rey and her life on Jakku and then she runs into BB8 and then eventually Fin. This would add some mystery as to the characters and what is going on. We do not need to know that Fin is a stormtrooper and instead we discover that. This would not be a bad thing. Try and keep the focus completely on Rey and make Poe and Finn solid supporting roles.

This all looks very good.

To go on with the Starkiller Forge idea, which I think is fantastic by the way.

To reinforce this there is a scene in TLJ where Kylo and Rey have a force link conversation and Kylo has a hanger in the backdrop, I recall it looking like things are being built, AT-ATs and so forth. This may be a scene to steal from to add some depth to the forge aspect. Also, I like the idea of having Kylo and Rey having their mental link established in TFA. Pulling at least one scene and placing it in TFA would be cool. Also to that end, having Luke introduced much more in TFA is another one that I think would be neat. Push the destruction of starkiller forge to the beginning of TLJ in place of the normal opening TLJ scene you said you would remove anyway - the Poe run on the dreadnought. Incorporate elements of that scene into the starkiller forge destruction. The first order fleet with snoke went away to bombard and destroy Hosnian Prime, this was the resistance’s moment to sneak in and destroy starkiller forge. Some of this could be established in a new TLJ crawl.

Here is an attempt at a TFA crawl.

Hosnian Prime became the
seat of a New Republic set to
bring peace to the galaxy but
the galaxy is once more in
turmoil. Republic spies bring
news of a new threat.

Hidden from the New Republic
a secret order arose from the
ashes of the empire. Armed
with a mysterious weapon forge,
this FIRST ORDER moves to
destroy the New Repubic and
the Jedi once and for all.

Luke Skywalker mysteriously
disappeared. Whispers of a
failed academy, the Jedi Knight
is needed more than ever. The
New Republic create a covert
RESISTANCE led by General
Leia Solo…

Here are a few ideas that I am going to just throw out there. Some may work and some may not.

Make a shot of the Supremacy in TFA.

Have Starkiller base blow up the resistance base on Hosnian.

Have the rag tag fleet be the remnants of those that escaped.

Not so radical, remove all the brain dead humor.

Take out the idea of the resistance in TFA, I never liked that they were resisting the first order but the republic was not. That seems weird.

Make time pass between TFA and TLJ, like months, even a year.

Like I mentioned above, have starkiller base sequence occur at the beginning of TLJ.

Have Luke begin training Rey in TFA and finish (or cut short) in TLJ.

Have the mind link between Rey and Kylo begin in TFA after they meet and she reverses his mind reading onto him.

Have Luke do something to actually warrant his death, like destroy the Supremacy.

Make Poe less of a Mary Sue, he has plot armor and knows it, the audience knows it, he can say anything and do anything because he winks at the audience. Reduce this greatly. Don’t make him such a good pilot that he makes Darth Vader’s piloting look worthless. He makes the bad ass and very serious fighter pilots from the OT look worthless and chumpy. Cut up his ridiculous attack run on Maz’s planet and dreadnought attack run. Give it some drama. It is one thing to be a good pilot and another to be far beyond the skills of anyone ever. He is not a super hero.

Give L3-37, a different voice. The voice of the Droid in jaba’s palace that disintegrates the Droid. Perhaps with a bit more feminine tone. I think the Droid voice was too human. She was not a protocol Droid. I think she was too pleasant and snarky. A little voice tone change would do a lot for the character. Other than that great film!

EPISODES 7 & 8 Restructured
The Last Jedi has memorable moments and quality visuals but really lacks in character development when in regards to The Force Awakens. The Force Awakens has more clear character arcs. For this reason I want to reorganize, edit, and add in FX. I am however not too experienced with editing. I’ve been using VSDC Free Editor and have been liking it. I need to know how to incorporate surround sound, Rotoscoping FX, generally I just need more experience. The highlights of this edit I suppose is that Rey does not use force powers until she meets Luke, Han dies during Episode VIII instead of VII, and that Starkiller Base is also saved for Episode VIII. Its like the last act of my episode 7 is the last act of The Last Jedi, re-edited, and then the 1st act of my episode 8 is the last act of The Force Awakens.

Episode VII

• The film plays out normally until Finn and Rey escape from Jakku in the Millennium Falcon. Finn and Rey then introduce each other. Finn asks BB-8 to take them to the Resistance base. Kylo Ren is upset that the droid escaped with the help of Finn and Rey. The film will play out differently from here.

• Finn and Rey arrive on Yavin IV and are immediately met with Han Solo and Chewbacca. No Ranthar chase, cut them hiding under the floor and just cut to han asking about who stole the Falcon. Han talks about Luke and the force.

• Finn and BB-8 exit the Falcon and find Poe Dameron alive (Cut Finn asking Poe for Help). Finn and Poe enter the base and speak with Princess Leia. (Only include thank yous, finn and leia do not need help.)

• BB-8 meets C3PO and 3PO explains how R2D2 has been in sleep mode since Lukes disappearance.

• Cut to Rey going down into the basement and finding Anakin’s blue lightsaber.

• R2D2 then wakes up to help show the way to Luke.

• Rey leaves and goes to find Luke. (Not really sure if she should take the Falcon though. This is where Rotoscoping might be nice to incorporate a different ship for her on Acto because Han Solo is still alive.)

• With Rey gone the First Order arrive using the footage from the Maz Kanata castle raid scene. Han, Chewie, and Finn fight them off on the ground as Poe Dameron takes to the skys.

• Using the evacuation of Yavin Base from The Last Jedi, the Resistance leave Yavin IV. Poe destroys the dreadnaught. The ship takes off into hyperspace. (Cut out General Hux)

• Rey arrives on Acto with a different ship and meets Luke Skywalker.

• The Resistance run to the abandoned Crait Base and wait for the First Order to follow them there. Luke appears and helps the resistance escape with his force projection. (Han and Chewie are rotoscoped into the scene with Luke and Leia. I had scene a post where a user mentioned doing this along with Han flying the Falcon off Crait.) Rey is not here.

Episode VIII

I am honestly not entirely sure on the order of the scenes for episode VIII yet. Need to watch The Last Jedi more first. The general idea is that Han Solo dies in Episode VIII, then Leia dies after the Tie Fighters blow up the Ship, and Luke dies after Rey does not turn to the dark side and join Ben.

• Kylo Ren is told by Snoke to kill his parents.

• General Hux Starkiller Base Nazi speech.

• Possibly actually have Maz Kanata’s Castle and using the shots of the Falcon on the outskirts of the castle make it seem like the whole Resistance is there. Even if we take out Maz Kanata herself we could at least probably show the bar scene and then show the Resistance on the outskirts, kinda like they are just camping out not really trying to stay in one place to long.

• The Resistance talks about how they can take down Starkiller Base. (Trim scene to make Admiral Ackbar, Han, and Leia the only ones who really know how to take down Starkiller Base)

• Leia tells Han to bring their son home.

• Rey following Luke. Luke drinks some Blue Milk.

• Han, Chewie, and Finn land on Starkiller Base.

• Rey goes to Starkiller Base to try to turn Ben to the lightside against Lukes advice. She meets up with Han, Chewie, and Finn. Han Solo is killed by his son. (Have to assume she still has the Rotoscoped ship and not the Falcon.)

• Starkiller Base destroys the Hosnian System/Corosaunt.

• Finn gets sliced in the back by Kylo. Rey returns him to the resistance. She hugs Leia and leaves in the Falcon with Chewie and R2D2. as she goes back to Luke.

• Rey comes back to Luke in the Falcon along with Chewie and he asks what happened to Han. This is why Luke not that nice to Rey throughout the movie because of the death of his friend.

• Leia dies by Kylo Ren’s Tie fighters. The Luke and Yoda scene should follow shortly after and Luke almost burns the texts out of rage because he felt Leia’s death.

• Rey leaves Luke again to go to Snokes ship after the dark side mirror cave. Finn wakes up and asks Poe where Rey is and that is how he ends up on Snokes ship. A chance to fight Phasma after she disables the shields in the same movie.

• Luke dies after we see that Rey does not make the decision to join the dark side with Kylo, because like Yoda his mission was completed in training The Last Jedi. End Credits, no broom boy. All the original trilogy actors now all die together in this movie.

This is just a general concept idea I have been thinking about. Like I said I really have to watch The Last Jedi more.

Yes!!!

I was thinking about some pretty radical changes. Luke dying on the end for not much pretty much bothered me. So, what if Luke destroyed starkiller base in the end of the and then died. He meditates and then dies because he blew up a whole planet. Obviously this would require many changes. The change would have to move the the starkiller sequence to tlj. The planets that starkiller base blow up need somethibg. Maybe the dreadnaught from tlj fires and blow up the planets. Moving that sequence to TFA.

Luke’s Jedi training in tlj could happen in the first movie. Snoke’s throne room is on starkiller base.

The link between kylo and Rey happens immediately when they meet.

These are some pretty radical edits but would be pretty amazing.

Wacko idea combining both movies:

Why not let Rey go to training before the whole Starkiller thingy is even introduced. Make it a mellow entry to the story where the villain (Kylo) still stays mysterious. She arrives and starts her training after retrieving the lightsaber and having been confronted with Kylo once.

Fast forward 5 years. First order has built starkiller base. Rey is in full training mode. Now, somehow mix together the ship chase and the starkiller thing and the planet being destroyed and rey and kylo having their first lightsaber fight and things suddenly make much more sense. She now has had the training to justify holding up against Kylo a little.

Not sure about the details (would like to include Snoke etc. as well) but that can still be worked out. Lots of stuff would obviously fall away.

I do like the idea. I think having the link between kylo and Rey established in the first movie is great. This would be a way to do that. The climax of his alternate force awakens movie could be the evacuation of the resistance base and the destruction of the first order dreadnaught. Poe does his ludicrous attack on it and blows it up with the sacrifice of the heroes of the bomber squadron. Cut to end. Open with canto bight maybe because the fleet is being followed by snoke in the supremacy and they need a slicer… Then Hux and snoke go to star killer base. The throne room is in star killer base. This also avoids the catastrophicly ill thought out hyperspeed to take out the supremacy. Instead the slicer routine works and they escape. Only to find out the starkiller base will destroy planets.

Maybe… It would require some fancy editing and the source material may not be there to do it. I’d love to see it attempted though.

Somebody had the idea of opening the movie with canto bight. Finn is simply awake. You cut maz Kanata explanation. Cut the drippy Finn scene. Cut scene with rose and him in the escape pod and she zaps him. The last scenes (minus the ring) could set the stage as part of the canto bight sequence either at the front or at the end of it. Truncate this sequence a lot overall. Cut the chase. Cut the beach landing. They find DJ in jail and get on the stolen ship back to the fleet. Then cut to TFA chewie and Rey landing on achto.

There was something that bothered me about the throne room sequence. The praetorian guards are just mooks that Rey and kylo deal with after snoke. Why would they just throw their lives away. I assume these are highly loyal bad ass soldiers but not dumb robots. They see snoke dead. They attack. They see he died by a light saber that was sitting at his throne. Kylo would be the next in line would they now be loyal to him? These guys are loyal to snoke or the first order?

While I really liked the cool fight scene, Rey and kylo’s enemy lacked purpose. What if it were rearranged. Kylo and Rey fight the praetorian guard before snoke dies. This would be a condensed fight. I do not know if it would work. But the mopping up of the mooks after the big show stopper of snoke dieing changes the pacing and tone. After they mop them up there is great dialog there too.

This is one of the best parts of the movie, and messing with it may not be worth while or possible. But…

Here is an assessment of things I think should be paired down and or removed.

Yoda ghost lightning stroke. He is a ghost and should not affect the real world. Luke lights the tree and saves the books as shown later.

Supremacy mega ship destroyed because of a hyperspace ship. If this was possible why didn’t they just destroy the deathstar this way? This is the first thing that I said when the movie ended. I have no idea why the ship is blowing up in the last part though.

The boy at the end. Sorry cut it, end with the prior scene of falcon, chat, tuck in rose and see jedi books then cut to lightspeed and iris closes, cue music. If the boy becomes important in IX, move that scene to IX.

Move Rey Luke scene from end of VII to beginning of VIII.

Cut Luke tossing saber over shoulder. cut milking. Cut porgs. cut caretakers. cut snarky luke.

Because Snoke was a red herring with no reason to exist, could he be cut from VII and VIII altogether? It would take some tricky editing and may not even be possible. Otherwise, elude he was the clone of palpatine. I mean come on. No background. Nothing.

Snoke did not initiate the mind link between kylo and rey. Because kylo and rey, have the mind link after snoke is dead.

Remove the recalling of Luke trying to kill his nephew in his sleep. Perhaps, just cut the recollection out entirely. Because, there is no mention of snoke, knights of ren, or anything that we thought might be there. Instead we only see the conflicted Luke who quits over it. Not good.

Like everyone else. Edit the Mary Poppins Leia scene to be more believable. Perhaps start the scene of here flying while she is already really close. She did not fly out so far and need to travel back so far.

The guy with the red flower in his lapel, cut him. Yeah they are looking a code breaker not a specific one. The Canto Bight sequence is failure for them. They find a code breaker in prison. Cool.

Cut Maz Kanata. How do they learn to go to Canto Bight though?

Cut poker chip spitting from BB8.

Cut BB8 in the AT-ST.

Luke actually went to crait. He just got blasted by the lasers and died. It does not make sense to me that he died because he projected himself. Am I wrong about that?

Likely other changes too. Need to see it again.
