These are very rough (over did the sharpen).

Here's one with a distant turning wheel at the bottom for Ridleyesque broken light fans (if you pardon the pun):

Wheel at the bottom

Another rough variant but with the pit ending in darkness and tried for a bit of Trumbullesque light blur with these two, umm didn't quite work but hopefully the idea is gotten across and someone else can give it a go (it might be nice to replace the steam bursts with flame bursts for that Blade Runner techno hell effect):

STAR WARS: EP V "REVISITED EDITION"ADYWAN - 12GB 1080p MP4 VERSION AVAILABLE NOW
Time

There's one thing I'm not sure has been brought up before.

When Lando tells Lobot to put the Stormies in the security tower Lobot's lips move as if he is saying something but no sound comes out.

I quite like the idea of Lobot not speaking at all so it might be an idea to stablilise his lips so he doesn't make lip movements but if the footage isn't to be altered perhaps putting something in there might make it sit better.

I really hope the shaft looks like the one in your mock-up Bingo, good job.

Btw I posted a (really bad looking) mock-up of the rebels preparing to attack a star destroyer with their canon (ala. ROTS). There's only one rebel in the pic and I really could have added more. I was wondering if someone could create a better looking mock-up. Would shots like that be workable anyway? I certainly hope so.

I loved your gun mockup and perhaps you should drop doubleofive a message to see if it could be put on the list because it illustrates the sort of shots that would put a lot of ROTS style epicness into the Battle Of Endor.

Dengar is in the palace?

He sure is if you watch Dave's video he's looking down the Rancor Pit as Jabba's little platform moves closer to give him a better view.

There's even a Rodian (Beedo) wearing Princess Leia's Hoth vest.

I don't mind those as much as I mind the medical droids at the Rebel Briefing.

Here's the drop shot with just the bridges gone if anyone wants to play with it :

As promised here is my slightly more conventional Death Pit mockup (not perfect but hopefully you get the general idea).

I've removed the bridges to nowhere and tried to make the central column look more like the lift shaft.

Hopefully more skilled hands could work this into something a bit better (and follow the rules of perspective) :

The Phantom Menace - A Round Table Edit (* unfinished project *)
Time

I for one would be very keen on attempting an edit like the one I proposed over on the radical redux thread:

Bingowings said :

My idea for the beginning would be from the scroll down to a full Naboo hanging in space the Trade Federation ships surround the planet (does anyone have any more back views of the Trade Federation ships btw?).

Naboo 1

Then we see an edited version of Sidious (fully concealed as in many edits) telling Nute Gunray he can land his troops and the landing ships and fighters descend.

The Federation invaded centuries before and were seen by the Gungans as gods but the Naboo fought them and ever since there has been tension (no tax disputes).

Federation Gods

The Sith have promised to help them regain power over the contested planet where an uneasy truce gives the Naboo and Gungan's joint sovereignty.

Fighting breaks out in Theed (some of the buildings are destroyed).

Then cut to Coruscant and Amidala's meeting with Palpatine (with the message from Sio Bibble edited in) and an altered Jedi Council meeting where Qui-Gon claims to sense the chosen one and his discovery is linked to the Naboo crisis.

Then the Senate meeting which removes Valorium, then the Queen opts to go back to Naboo to end the crisis.

The Jedi are sent to protect her but they can not call for war against the Federation until the Blockade is confirmed to be unlawful.

Her ship is attacked on route and she has to land on Tatooine.

They meet up with Anakin, gain the parts they need, Anakin joins the Jedi hoping to liberate Tatooine at a later date (giving Anakin a noble intention for leaving his mother behind rather than just seeing the stars).

They break through the blockade and create a hasty alliance with the Gungans. The Gungan's attack the bulk of the droid army, The Jedi attempt to shut down the shields for Trade Federation command ship and encounter battle droids (which should rarely if ever speak and certainly should not be the comic relief goons as seen in the theatrical version...incidently they do sound good in German) and finally the Sith Lord they first encountered on Tatooine, the Naboo fighters clear the path for the Jedi and take on the full Federation fleet (not just one ship making it an more hopless fight) and the Queen and her troops storm the palace.

I'd keep the Gungans but dub them so that Jar-Jar is now the Gungan ambassador and represents his people just as much as Amidala. He is a bit out of water but not the buffoon we see in the original cut.

I'm going to play with the idea that instead of there being a single droid control ship the whole blockade is there (the Naboo have more fighters, squadrons added by changing the colours of the fighters to blue, red etc:

Red Group

but they are still greatly outnumbered because they have no capital ships or droid fighters)

I actually like the idea of R2 being blue because he's one of blue group's astrodroids (Naboo seems to be obsessed with aesthetics).

Nablue

Qui-Gon and Obi Wan have to get onto the fleet command ship to stop signal jamming so they can get a distress signal to the Republic to send for help (and they fight Maul there, also moving the droid battles on the ship from the beginning of the film to the end).

That way the sabre battle is more associated with space battle and the Gungan battle is more associated with the throne room.

Anakin doesn't destroy the command ship he just destroys a ship single handed and deliberatly (not by accident).

Once Nute Gunray is captured he orders the ships away (to save his skin) and the Droids power down on his command not because one ship is destroyed (which seemed a stupid way to run a war in the first place).

It would have the added novelty of not being done before.

There have already been many edits of TPM which just nibble at the edges, I think the big problem with TPM is it darts all over the place.

Since posting the above I thought it might be better if the film starts with the blockade arriving but Gunray only lands his troops when Sidious/Palpatine knows the Queen is on her way. Gunray himself only lands when he thinks the ground battle is over which is Amidala's cue to storm the Palace. That way you get a sense of escalation on the Naboo crisis.

First the blockade, then the bombardment, then the landing and the ground battle.

Having Nute land near the end and proclaim victory would be a down note from which the up beat ending can spring.

Dooku would be seen on the council and hang around and watch Qui-Gon's funeral from a distance.

I'm all for people attempting to cut Fett out of ROTJ because if it's enough it's job done, if it isn't it's a building block for the sort of scenerio I was suggesting (either way he needs to go from the Sarlacc fight).

My instincts still tell whisper at me that totally removing Fett is possibly a step too far, for good or ill he has been built up to be more than just a cool looking guy lurking in the background of ESB and totally removing him from ROTJ rather than keeping him in but giving him something to do would come across as sending a large group of fans to bed without supper rather than giving them something better to eat than a pot noodle.

As I said putting him in ROTJ as he is was a fan service of the lowest order.

I could see why he turns up at Jabba's now and then it's a great place to pick up work as well as social diseases at least with the Boba Job scenerio it's a fan service with a purpose (he has something to do which is pretty similar to what he does so well in ESB).

He's the Blackadder of the Star Wars universe, IMPs on the top REBs on the bottom and Fett in the middle making a fat pile of cash out of both of them.

Sounds like a lot of effort to get Fett in a position to be shot for no reason.

One of the problems with Jedi is everything is tied up in a big funeral bow, Jabba, Fett, Yoda, Palpatine, Piett, The Empire.

It would be add a bit of cred to the film if at least one loose end was left dangling and Fett is essentially a minor character (all be it a fan fave).

He's not evil or good or political, he's just in it for the money which he could continue to make in chaos after the fall of the Empire.

So why not just let him live?

People seem to think he is Han's nemesis, he isn't (outside the EU anyway) he was just some guy hired by two other guys to find him.

He is a bit of a shadow of Han (Han pre-ANH with a few less scruples and a mask), he has the fancy ship and all.

Having him sell the location of the Emperor to the rebels gives him something to do but outside that I can't see any point him being in the film.

The Bothans don't appear anywhere in the films so having Fett take up that role makes sense to me.

It's annoying when writers feel that they have kill off anyone who isn't a hero in these sort of films I thought (until ROTJ) Star Wars was above that sort of thing.

As you can imagine with a thread as long as this one much of the points you make have been made before but there are some in here which I surprised have (to my knowledge never been made).

Telegraphing the Emperor's trap adds suspense because we know that the Emperor has something up his sleeve but the Rebels don't so when they arrive we aren't just thinking will they survive the battle we know that there is added peril and out heroes are charging straight at it.

It's the same with the Boba Fett double deal scenerio, you can either get a dum, dum, darrrr moment of suddenly revealing a shock plot twist or you can extend the sensation over a long period of time by letting the audience in on danger that the characters on screen don't know about.

If you chuck in the added surprise of Luke being on a second Death Star (not the one he and we are lead to believe the only one) we then get the best of both worlds because we have the suspense of knowing the Emperor is pulling the wool over the Rebels eyes but also the surprise that the films it pulling it over ours.

Sudden promotions aside (I don't have the same beef with Lando that some people do he was over a barrel in ESB and had a city full of people to think about before his friends) but would he be a Commodore instead of a General or maybe a Squadron Leader?

Space Opera is a real hassle when it comes to military ranks, is space land, sea or air?

Solo should be a Commander.

Most of your other comments have been addressed elsewhere in some shape or form but if it's worth saying once it's worth saying again.

Just something I noticed while doing a bit of editing.........

Boba Fetts Gun

That shouldn't be to hard to fix. Good eye Dave!!!!!!!!

This is not what it seems.

Boba Fett's laser rifle has a built in rocket launcher which fires the front end of his gun completely over the heads of any attacker.

Utterly useless but it looks cool (and that's what counts isn't Mr Fett?).

Kenner were going to build this into their 12 inch figure but couldn't be arsed so made up some story about health and safety. Prototypes were never made and are available on Ebay for 22 quadzillion bucks and ninety nine cents.

Great find Dave, almost as much fun as the classic Force Kick GIF (I wonder if there is a copy of that floating around?).

There wouldn't be much to change in terms of dialogue.

I suggested changing "There are too many of them!" to "Now there are two of them!"

And yes the would be less to explode but the added debris could look interesting and add chaos to lead up to the bigger bang to come.

It would also give Luke enough time to get to the shuttle and say goodbye to dad if the Emperor's station is falling apart rather than blowing up.

Remember the Rebels don't know about this one so no need to change the briefing or any of Ackbar's lines.

"We can't repel firepower of that magnitude!" can apply as much to one Death Star as two, maybe even more so.
