Violence VS. Non-Violence ~~~ Debate
Time
Actually no. Picking the weapon and using violence is considered in Ghandi's eyes an act of cowardice anyway. He was just eloquently moving out of a dilemma. Cowardice is what can be considered as starting violence in others or oneself. Unclear? If there is no victim there is no committer. You are what you are because you don't chnage it. I once read: the greatest freedom in a human's life is the ability to answer the order: "Give me your wallet or I will shoot you." with "No." You might get shot, but you kept your freedom. Never look upon Ghandi as a defender of individualism.

THE FAN EDIT CONTEST HAS A WINNER !!! REVIEWS IN OFF TOPIC FORUM
Time
It is so nice you are now discussing the second contest, when not even the reviews for the first one are up, months after it is finished. Of course it was good to get rid of the eternal arguing about how cool Bizzle really is and what his intentions are like (he is only telling the truth and the truth can hurt:

The truth hurts doesn't it, Hapsburg? Oh, sure maybe not as much as jumping on a bike with the seat missing, but it hurts!
) and about reading, re-reading and re-re-reading (thank you, Zion, for lecturing me). Now: when will the first contest be brought to an end and wouldn't it be good to first finish the first before the second starts?

and now the moderator arrives. Zion, please re-read the posts of Bizzle and think about who you are defending and what you are saying. Being offensive is putting it mildly to what he did. And since not only I realized that, I do not understand why you are holding hands here. But anyway, Bizzle, I think your last post was really close to an apology (but of course you will never make one), still there is something you should consider: if you tell a woman her dress looks like sh*t and her makeup does not fit her at all and that if she is going outside and presenting herself to the world like that she must be aware to get bad reaction, which is just being objective and sticking to the facts, then you still have to live with her reaction of taking it personal. There are various ways of saying things and you made your point pretty clear that you give a sh*t about how you say things as long as they are true for you. People, who think that way, are egomaniacs, are sociopaths. Think about that and now give me more of your truth.

Bizzle, you need way to many words for simple statements. AND I don't have to be a member of CBB to like Dezionized and to use an open forum to make my point about someone abusing his position. But being part of a conspiracy, that sounds fitting to your concept, doesn't it? Apart from bizzling business I am looking very forward to the next contest. Maybe I can become a judge... I am also an idividual with an opinion.

What I would suggest is to create an extra website for the next contest and the ones after that. This would be a nice presentation and something to remember.

Oh, and PD, I am not intending to make CBB or anyone look like anything they are not. Hopefully it is outside of my responsibility what people do think about fan editors. I stated that before, I am just audience. I love ADMs edits and I also dig several others including Dezionized and De-assified. Great work, folks, keep it up (I can't believe I am really starting to justify my actions HERE).

Still one thing is obvious: fan edits are not yet big enough to gain the audience as large as they deserve as well as the interest and the reactions.

nice words, ricardo, you say things with style.

Still I would have loved the rating system to be more professional, more objective than just a subjective opinion. Why a rating system anyway, if no one is bound to it? What I did not get about this, is the fun factor. Was the contest made for fun? Were the judges doing it for fun? Is watching the edits of other people fun? Well for me it is, but I am just audience. Certainly it sounded like the contest was meant seriously. What cannot and should not happen is that contestants get attacked by the judges, who have some kind of superiority or stupidity complex. Respect and a friendly tone would have improved this far more. My opinion: next time more and better structure is needed to make anyone feel better about this.

Who is proud to have participated in this contest after all?

Yes, PD, I have read that before and still it doesn't explain much, if you didn't add further details. There we go: audio quality: 100% means perfect ac3 5.1 or even 7.1 surround sound, in no way worse than the original, right? Now what does 0% mean? No audio at all? This would be most likely. So no one can get 100% anyway since a 1:1 audio transfer is not possible (as far as I know). And since each fan edit has audio no one gets 0%. What does 50% mean? I think it means lots of errors, crackling, hissing and maybe a second or two with no audio at all. 50% is still an F.
Or is it all different? Were the ratings given by comparison of the edits? Bad idea, since no one has all the entries present and a vote should be made as long as the memory is fresh. Or was everyone free to rate as they liked? As for the Bizzle this must be true. Example? OK: Hannibal by ADM, score 88. Now let's see: 100% audio is impossible since the deleted scenes had no dolby surround (at least not on my DVD), so it is not 5.1 surround all the time, let's say it is great audio 95%. Video: has been tweaked with, the deleted scenes still look worse than the original ones, 100% impossible, let's say a great 90%. Extras: what do we have here? An animated menu and chapters menu. That's it. Sorry, but that is no Extra at all. 0% (but since the menu is cool, let's say 20%) Edit: you made a nice post, PD,
Edit (innovation, editing style, etc):
. Making an extended edition is not innovative, but ADM's editing style is superb and flawless (although the deleted scenes make this one easy, since they fit exactly into the movie (except for the dungeon scene). So, for edit this one can get max. 60%. Now the final result: (95+90+20+60+60)/5=65. That is very far from 88 and I was generous, wasn't I?
So I think the entire rating system should be reworked next time, since the judges just gave ratings to their likings and were not bound to anything at all.
Does anyone want me to do a fair rating for dezionized and de-assified and pearl harbor? I would love to.

Bizzle, you got a hell of a problem, don't you?

Dezionized rocks. Sound and picture are absolutely ok IMHO. But then I am not a quality geek anyway, even was watching VHS a long time without complaining
Psycho Dayv, I wonder what you mean with presentation? Pearl Harbor and De-Assified had a still picture and pink highlights as menu. But I am afraid CBB won't participate in the next contest, if things go on like this, which would be a shame (although I hope it won't be this Jennifer Garner flick they edited). Come on, Boon23, don't worry about this bizzling dog. He's just human, you know, which means he can be a terrible pain of flatulency like we all can.

And I have a great idea for a nice CBB edit: Star Wars OT combined to one 90 minutes movie. That would gain a hell lot of responses here and you would learn to handle "constructive" criticism far better, believe me.

Besides of this contest being a true embarrasment for everyone involved by just not presenting a winner and the contestants in an accurate way, I can still absolutely not agree on the outcome and since I don't get to read any cards and also no one else says anything at all, it may be my turn, since I am just a viewer and consumer of fan edits. I have been talking to a lot of friends meanwhile about this contest and they all agree on one thing: an extended edition with no extras is neither innovative nor special. As I stated before, it is very well done, but that's about it (I am not attacking you or your work here, ADM, I am a fan of yours for a long time). What other movies did we have: Batman and Robin De-Assified. Isn't that innovation? Isn't that cool and unique from the title to the making? And what about Matrix DeZIONized? This is by far the most popular edit besides the Phantom Edit. It is not perfectly done, I agree to that, but it combines two bad movies to one good movie, it is famous and loved by many and it has a new beginning, new end credits, subtitles, chapters, animated menu, trailer and an own cover design, it must have taken months to finish that and it is well done (just my humble opinion). Sorry, but what is wrong here? Personal problems because Boon23 was complaining about the delay (and I think he was right there)? It can't be that, can it? Just my 2 cents. Now hunt me down, but you won't kill me.

FanFiltration's Release & Feedback Thread
Time
QUOTE from myspleen comment by metalshop"I would like to make a comment here on this edition or fan edit. While I am very grateful to have been able to get this one, I must say that I was somewhat disappointed with it as fan edits go.

The sound on this particluar issue was in my opinion not very good. Matter of fact, I have had to turn the sound all the way up just to gain some richness in the sound of the film itself. The parts where the music or score is highlighted, I then have to turn it down in order to balance the sound out. Then in parts where there is dicussion going on, the sound has to then be turned up to be able to hear it.

I have watched this on the computer with my nice flat screen 22 inch CRT and I have to say as fan edits go, this one was quite dull in texture, and was somewhat smudged if that is the word I am looking for.

The detail was not there, it was somewhat a blur in that you could tell it was not the greatest print to be copied from. I think that in part 1, I have only seen about 3 or so areas which were not shown in various versions I have seen. Adding them to me or in my opinion, didn't give much to the overall scheme of the film itself. If one had to source this, one would hope it would have been on a better print. I had felt at times like I was actually watching some poor resoltuion image from a TV program as opposed to something that had been given a good treatment by someone so good as the author of this fan edit.

Not taking anything away from him or his work or the monumental task of what he did, however one wonders if it was indeed worth it to add scenes at the expense of sound and picture quality.

I know that I am no editor myself, however I wasn't impressed at all with the sound. The first thing that did stick out however was that the print itself was weak, and almost look like some old copy from VHS.

Anyway, the next thing I noticed was the sound, which was not what should have been. No one likes turning something up and down all the time for balance, and the richness in sound that I have seen on regular views of this show pales on this edit.

I do however want to thank the author and editor for this work, as I am sure it was a very hard task to complete, and he richly deserves much credit for the time and effort that he spent for the viewing public."

SUSPIRIA with original sountrack in PCM! Duel Layer (Released)
Time
I think PCM is old age. Using a bitrate of 448 I don't think anyone realises a difference to AC3. But maybe some of the freaks here do. Anyway, I do like to download stuff, so I care for downloadable sizes. Also I consider dual layers to expensive still, so I think it is nice and very sufficient to pack highest possible quality on a single layer DVD. Besides Suspiria is a Dario Argento movie and those were never famous for their sound quality, were they?

And one more thing... a short while ago I read "2.0 Dolby Surround" Now how is it possible to have surround sound with only 2 channels?
