The Prequel Radical Redux Ideas Thread
Time

Some of my ideas (which I'm sure have been posted a thousand times):

I believe that the fighters for all of the Prequel Films (Naboo fighters of course) should look different.

The Trade Federation Fighters should be blatant predecessors of the TIE Fighters in both design and sound. Something that could justify the Empire switching to real Pilots compared to a computer is that the TFF crashed with high frequency/didn't have good aim.

The X-Wing Fighters should be the main ones for the Republic, and should be seen in the Battle of Geonosis and Coruscant. They should fly smoother than they do in the OT as they're newer and aren't as damaged as they are later on.

Jedi should have their own definitive type of space craft. In my personal opinion the fighters they used in Revenge of the Sith would work just fine for both Attack of the Clones and Revenge of the Sith. It seems either of the ones shown in film would work though.

Actually, I have to say I would change all of the space ships in the Prequel Trilogy to some degree.

For one, I believe that the Trade Federation Space Stations should both look more ominous and be more prominent throughout the films. I want all of the films to have more of a feeling of consistency and that would add quite a bit in my opinion. However, I feel that there should only be one big space station throughout The Phantom Menace. That's the first time the Trade Federation is involved in any kind of war, and they wouldn't exactly how to handle it yet. As time goes on, this Space Station model becomes more Prominent with each film. In Attack of the Clones, the Separatists are preparing for a full scale war so they would be stock piling on these. In Revenge of the Sith, I would make them the one of the only two Separatist space ships in the entire beginning battle. Not only because it makes them more prominent in the battle, but so we actually have an idea of how big the battle is and what ship is on what side.

The other Separatist ship in the battle would be Grevious's flagship during the Battle of Coruscant, where Palpatine is being kept. I feel that the PT should have it's own Executor which is just as ominous as the actual one from the OT. This could be a ship that Darth Sidious is using, one that appears in every PT battle and is only used when needed. For example, in an extremely edited version, this could be used to rescue to transport Darth Maul to Naboo, evacuate the Separatist leaders on Geonosis, and then be the main space ship in the Battle of Coruscant.

Finally, I feel that the gigantic ships used by the Republic in Attack of the Clones and Revenge of the Sith should be an amalgamation of the ones used in Revenge of the Sith, and the Star Destroyers of the OT. The basic design of the Revenge of the Sith should still be intact, but the deflector shields could be of the OT Star Destroyers.

I have a lot more to add, but it's 1:06 and I'm tired.

Adventures in Raising the Next Generation of Original Star Wars Fans

Keeping your kid from watching the PT? That's a little over the top. This is a different generation, and they have every right to enjoy things that we don't enjoy. In fact, it doesn't bother me at all if the younger generation doesn't like the original SW and prefers the PT. They also don't like the Beatles, Miles Davis, and a host of other things that earlier generations consider great. However, they should learn to respect that which came before, because the things they love will become passe too.

That said, I think that eventually anyone with an IQ over 90 will realize, on their own or with a modicum of education, that the PT sucks and the OT rocks.

I agree with this post.

I watched the OOT (my dad had copies from the 19965 re release and I was born in 1996 so I'm literally in the middle I guess) and I watched the PT. I like both - I like one more than the other, I think it's obvious which, but there's no need to go to extremes. In fact, I think in context with the PT, directing, acting, dialogue, etc, the plot of the OT is much better. Note, I said plot. Nothing else.

(In fact I say overall the plot of the PT is better than the OT, the presentation is what makes the OT the better trilogy)

And no, I'm not one of those who believes that what's new is better - I like the Beatles more than the Black Eyed Peas , Jack Kirby more than Grant Morrison.

General Star Wars Random Thoughts Thread
Time

(Since this is the best place I could find to introduce my self.)

Hello people

My name is Ben Dietz and I am a huge Star Wars fan. I am only fifteen years old and grew up with the Prequel Trilogy. I love the films and even the aspects people dislike about them - such as Jar Jar. My main beef actually, with the PT is that George Lucas didn't have the balls to make Jar Jar a major character screen time wise - though I have a lot of problems with things like that actually that I don't think are appropriate for this thread.

On the OT I personally feel that Lucas screwed up big time in the post releases. I think that he doesn't exactly understand the effects the films have on people - only the popularity of the films, which are two different things, at least in my opinion. If he understood the power the films had on people, I doubt he would be as stubborn he as he is on the re releases. It's funny because I don't even consider myself a purist - I like the PT, I like Jedi Rocks (poorly edited CGI aside), and I like the first (the semi subtle one that isn't in your face) no, etc. I just think that there's no good reason whatsover why the OOT shouldn'tbe released. It will get older fans back in and knowing some members of the Star Wars community, it will be bought by non older or purist fans as well.

Just my two cents - this whole situation is weird when someone thinks about it.
