Star Wars Prequels/Original Trilogy: The Complete Scores (Released)
Time

Wow I've haven't been on here in a while, there's been quite a few developments I see.

Firstly to Fishmanlee, thank you very much for that link to the Jabba music, I did try and recreate my own but this is much better!

And GM, I await with eager anticipation the uploading of your Star Wars sets although please do not feel rushed by us, I know how annoying it can get when everyone's asking you when/where/how long etc.

And GGCTUK has apparently moved from ffshrine since it has been revamped in a 'don't upload music here' kind of way which is a shame. I didn't manage to get hold of his TPM set, can anyone point me in the right direction?

It's funny, I have every single official soundtrack, I have my own complete soundtracks, I have various lesser bootlegs drifting around the place, I have GM's old soundtracks, most of GGCTUK's and yet I'm still wanting more... I'm basically just a Star Wars music whore

Yea I realised that the few seconds used on the EditDroid release are pretty much useless. The quality is good at best and it's not even the right 10 seconds that is needed for either scene.

The music from the documentary is much more complete but as, to my knowlege, there has not been an official DVD release of this, there is no way I can see to cleanly rip the seperate channels.

I'm still hunting here and there, searching the deepest darkest dregs of the internet but I haven't found anything new in weeks...

GM, it's nice to hear from you again, hope it's all going well. I didn't quite understand your last post, are you saying you have a clean rip of this lost track? Anything you have would be of amazing use to me.

THE OT SOUNDTRACKS SALVAGE - SWESBROTJ -"remastered"(so far)+ LP's (Released)

Bingowings said:

Please forgive my ignorance Jedi soundtrack fans (I only have ever had the one disc vinyl version that came out with the film) but has the piece that Max Reebo plays on the barge (and after Boussh) ever been released?

And if so what is it called?

(it sort of goes dum dee dee dee dee dee dee dum dum dee dee dee dum.... can you hear it yet?)

I've been looking for this piece for some time now. You're right, it's one of the masters that were lost and never released. There's a slight part of it used in EditDroid's isolated score release of ROTJ but it's only about 10 seconds of it that is then looped. It's also used in the documentary 'From Star Wars To Jedi', but these, I think are the only sources.

It looks like we are never gojng to get it, but I'm still putting it out there that if anyones knows where I can get more of this track I would be eternally thankful!

Hmm.. does anyone know if EditDroid is still hanging around here? I might try and PM him, ask where that source came from. I know it doesn't appear on any of the 3 official soundtracks; the 1983 Polydor, 1993 Anthology, and 1997/2004 RCA/Sony. As I believe, the LP released was exactly the same as the Polydor CD so not there either. Can anyone think of any other musical releases for ROTJ?

Oh and Ripplin, if it's not too much trouble sending me that EditDroid Bonus CD that would be very helpful!

Ooh that sounds really good, I think I have that somewhere... I'll have to check. Wow thanks guys, if this works out it's a massive help!

EDIT: Just found that I do have a digital copy of it but the music is played during dialogue and as this is simply an avi file, the music is not kept on a different channel from the dialogue.

Any ideas as to how to get this isolated?

Yea I thought as much. The big story with ROTJ was that the masters did get lost somehow, might have been a fire, not sure. I was just wandering if it had got out somehow, or if someone had got a really good rip off a DVD or something.

If not I guess I'll just have to leave it. Although I will never give up the search! =)

Also, I'm currently making my own version of ROTJ and can't seem to find a certain track that appears in the film quite a few times.

On the soundtrack there are two Jabba's Palace band music pieces which are Lapti Nek/Jedi Rocks and Baroque Recital but there's another piece of music missing that plays just after Chewbacca is put in jail and on the sail barge as its heading out to the Sarlacc pit.

I was wandering if anyone has this track or knows where I can rip it/dowload it from?

Well I was just putting down my thoughts.

Yea feedback is very good, I personally will be much more inclined to download something that's had some sort of feedback than none at all. And being a distributor of my own work myself I know that it's always nice to know that your work is appreciated

And if it helps spread the sets, it's worth it! =)

Just thought I'd share my thoughts on the sets...

ANH sounded a lot... softer. The trumpets for instance were a lot less harsh than on all the official soundtracks. Somehow it seemed you managed to dial down the harshness of the brass whilst upping the strings and other sections, don't know how you managed it but it's brilliant!

As for ESB, I personally thought that there wasn't much wrong with the Anthology or even the Sony releases and as it's my favourite score I'm pretty happy about that! I mean, there's not that much channel flipping, the background noise isn't that bad at all, and the instrument sections all seem nice and equal. Even so, your remastered version did seem to bring it that little bit more to life so I thank you dearly for that!

And ROTJ had the most noticeable change, you could just hear the music so much clearer! The field of music is so narrow on all the official soundtracks but on these remastered scores it's much much wider, great stuff!

Honestly, download these, there worth it! :D

Yea I hate tracks like that... there's always one that takes FOREVER to complete, makes you feel like you're stuck in a rutt and not going anywhere.

And we all do thank you for continuing to do what you're doing even though you've had to put up with a lot.

Glad to hear that Melty is still holding together...just

And ABC your sets are actually pretty good!

Between GM's general mastery of editing, source hunting, managing to produce the most expansive sets out there, finding amazing bonus material, and being really quite a perfectionist, and ABC's talents in remastering and cleaning up tracks to a really high standard, you've both kind of got the star wars fandom covered! =)

@ Beatho: Ok, thanks. I'm about to make this mention in the first post... So, was this Lightsaber Duel the "icing on the cake" as you expected? (Big smile on my face).

...Wow is all I can say... honestly, when I heard the choir and strings melody when Luke charges out to confront Vader for the last time... I got shivers down my spine! A serious well done, can I ask how you managed it? What software did you use? I honestly don't know how you managed to get such clarity from such... rubbish.

...Well good luck with building that contraption, hopefully you'll be back on track with a nice cool motherboard soon.

And in response to JediMasterFisher, yea actually it does have a little of that music, but only about 25 seconds of it, then it transitions into ROTS Sidious music.

And yea, including all the Burtt edits may be painful to put together, but being able to have the score as it was writen and the final edit played next to each other does make you appreciate just how amazing Williams' music is and how severely wrong sound designers can be. Also it's nice to have a complete de-SFX score of the film.

By the way, GM, is the music you're trawling through from TFU good quality at all? Because the rips I have are mainly pretty bad quality with a lot of crackling throughout the tracks. It makes it very hard to clean them up and make any use out of them.

Just curious if there was another better quality rip floating around out there.

A fair amount of unreleased AOTC music found its way into TFU and I'm guessing GM is going about trying to encorporate those snipets into his set.

I'm attempting to make an AOTC Complete Recordings set that contains the official release, the score as William's intended it and then a complete score, and am currently in the process of including the new TFU material myself. Mine differs from GM's in that I'm trying to present the music as it is played in the film i.e. with all the Burtt edits included (I know...shoot me now).

One of the most unpleasurable edits I did was trying to reconstruct the conveyor belt music used in the film from about 15 different tracks from TPM and AOTC... Burtt well and truly hacked away at that music!
