omg, I can’t access my DM… maybe because I’m new member, I tried to contact a moderator then I got a message like new member must wait 7 days to be able to do have a private conversation (that’s maybe why I can’t acces private message section)… so at least I can’t even contact a moderator. >_<
I wanted to work this weekend with DaVinci and finally very happy to be able to use your fusion template because it seem very accurate to the movie version, any others way to get it ?

huh, strange! I’ll dm a mod to see if I’m allowed to post in here, otherwise keep an eye on when those dms open!

Awesome.

I have been wanting to go back into the crawls and remove the Episode numbers, where it is jst the film titles without being numbered, just cause I feel, with how big the franchise has grown, and how you might not even watch them in order, or you might watch stuff in between the episodes, the episode titles are a bit redundant

Interesting! I didn’t build it with that in mind, but I’d imagine you can just not put anything into the episode number section

Custom Star Wars Crawl (DaVinci Resolve)
Time

Hello!

I was inspired late last year by others who have come before me and decided that it was time that I take a crack at a custom Star Wars crawl!

With DaVinci Resolve being my editor of choice, having it be done 100% in Resolve was my goal. This was actually only very recently made possible with the release of the Resolve 20 Beta, which introduced text boxes into Resolve for the first time.

Once I knew this was possible, my goal was to create a template for every single crawl that has shown up on the big screen, which I believe I have 99% accomplished! I have included 3 Title templates in a DRFX file that include:

  1. the classic green Lucasfilm Limited card with 3 options for both the text and color
  2. an extensive A long time ago card with all of the variations I could find
  3. a Star Wars crawl template including variations for the logo, and many branching variations depending on your preference

https://imgur.com/a/tJAhULJ

Each of these variations have been meticulously crafted to match their respective on screen counterpart as closely as possible, from font, to spacing, to color

Each of the three templates also include a custom color option, giving you the ability to make any of these cards any rgb value you wish!

A couple FYIs I’ll go ahead and make you aware of, you will have to source the fonts for this crawl, but I am including a PDF with links to all of the fonts I used for the project. I also figured out that Resolve does not save default lengths for templates, so everything defaults to 5 seconds. This is a relatively easy fix, however. Just click on the clip in your timeline after dragging it in, ctrl+D and set:

Lucasfilm Limited - 00:00:10:04
A Long Time Ago - 00:00:07:12
Crawl - Whatever the length is from your source movie, or anywhere from 00:01:10:00 to about 00:01:20:00

General rule of thumb I’ve found, find the first frame you see the Star Wars logo, create a break there, find the end right when the letters disappear, make another break there, and make the crawl template match that length. From there, the a long time ago card should fit perfectly with the new length before that, and the Lucasfilm logo before that if you so choose

This crawl is set in 2.39:1 aspect ration which covers everything except for The Force Awakens, which is a very similar 2.40:1. To fix this, just click timeline, output blanking, 2.4, which should set the boundaries of the project to 2.4

Happy to share via DM or I can post here if allowed!

Ahsoka: Heir to the Empire
Time

Hello all!

I’ve been working on an edit for the Ahsoka show for a little while now that is just about finished, and it just needs a few final touches, but I wanted to go ahead and post about it.

From what I have seen in past, there have been 2 main ways people have gone about making edits for this show, either separating it into 2 distinct movies or having it be a very long movie. My goal with this edit was to make a comprehendible cut of the movie that is right about 2.5 hours, which I believe I have achieved. The final cut as of now is sitting at 02:33:27, which I hope will be a digestible length.

I also was not a huge fan of how they did the crawl for this show, so I have remade the crawl to have the original design, while keeping the red color scheme they went with. I’m including a general changelog here below:

First Act - The main chunk of time I cut out was from the first two episodes, where I feel like there was much time wasted. The opening scene is largely the same, with only a few minor cuts here and there, but the plot about the map is entirely gone, having Baylan and Shin already possessing the map from the beginning. This allows us to cut out most of the Lothal sequences, as well as all of the Corellia sequences and have Ahsoka and Sabine jump right into chasing after the map. I also trimmed up some of the space battle sequence to preserve time and pacing.

Second Act - Once we arrive on Seatos, it is structurally unchanged, though I have many many trims here or there to keep us moving. The big changes here include the removal of the second dream sequence, as I feel like the same message is conveyed in the third, and the sequence with Jacen takes up unnecessary time. Lastly the New Republic arriving has been nearly completely removed once again to save on time.

Third Act - Once we arrive on Peridia, they seemingly really wanted to show us a ton of Thrawn, which I understand, but it takes up time unnecessarily to tell us all of his plans that we should be able to pick up regardless, so much of that has been trimmed away. Sabine finding Ezra has been shortened, and the final battle has been trimmed up for speed as well.

It is my hope that the main plot of the show has been preserved in this cut, and that it doesn’t feel too jarring, but I will let you all be the judge of that. I am working on the exact wording of an updated crawl, but the cut is otherwise finished, and I hope to have it up by the weekend! I will update once it is fully completed.

4K Deleted Scenes upscale

Several people have made 4K versions of the deleted scenes; check out Darth Pyro’s upscales on the SWTrilogy Forum, as well as MechaSalesman AKA Numeral Joker’s upscales.
I’ve made my own upscales, however haven’t uploaded them anywhere sorry!

Ah, I haven’t gotten into the SWTrilogy forums as of yet. Are both of the ones you mentioned on there? If I remember right I needed a code to get in

4K Deleted Scenes upscale

Hey everyone! I’m not sure if this should go into preservations or here, but it is for an edit, so I thought I might start here.

I am trying to see if anyone has successfully upscaled the deleted scenes of the Prequels into 4K. I have the 1080p versions, but decided to go with the 4k versions of the movies for my personal edits. I would imagine that the results may be iffy at best considering we only have the 480p DVDs with the deleted scenes to my knowledge, but figured I’d check!

I tried to comb through different threads, but I haven’t had any luck so far. Any insight would be greatly appreciated.

My Very First Prequel Edits (and edits in general)
Time

Hey everyone!

I have gotten into movie edits over the past year, and have been inspired by all of you (specifically HAL 9000 and Spence) to try my hand at my own edits.

I am very aware that Prequel edits are just about as saturated of an editing topic as it gets, but I grew up on these movies and feel as if they are at least a good place to start.

My goal is to make a more palatable version of all three movies while maintaining, and maybe even improving upon in some cases, the rhythm of the movies and scenes. I am specifically posting here in the event that I have anything that I cannot figure out and general advice if that would be acceptable.

I have gone through the movies meticulously a few times trying to pinpoint exactly what might be changed in my version, but from what little experience I have, I have found that it is oftentimes a feel thing while I am editing that ends up working best.

I would love any and all feedback once I’ve got the change list up and going! In the meantime, is there any specific advice as to the process y’all have found to be the best, and where I might be able to get access to the most amount of materials. I do currently have the 2011 Blu-Ray’s, the early 2000’s DVDs for all original 6 movies, as well as the soundtrack discs for episodes 4, 5, 6, and 1 (need to get 2 and 3 as well in case they are needed). I unfortunately do not have access to MySpleen, as if I understand right they closed access for new users a while back which is unfortunate.

Any and all advice would be very welcome, as again I am really just dipping my toe into this world (beyond watching them) for the first time!

Side note, my day job is crazy busy January to the end of March, so I wouldn’t be diving in fully until April, but I am starting to collect the necessary knowledge as well as any resources.

Thank y’all in advance for all of your help and suggestions 😃
