Rogue Squadron - N64 / GameCube / PC - video game series thread
Time

I’ve barely played ROGUE SQUADRON on N64 but have had it for PC for the longest time. Currently own it on Steam.
When I used to own a GameCube, of course I owned both Rogue Squadron II: Rogue Leader and III: Rebel Strike. Emulating with Dolphin is a bit tricky since I never bothered to grab any mods or whichever. Soon, of course.
Never played Battle for Naboo since I didn’t have a N64 or any console that generation. Was gaming on the computer, especially with the X-WING and TIE FIGHTER game series. Never really bothered with N64 emulation, though.
Love this series.

Nice. But I’m going to choose the original cinema mix instead of a remix. It’s what I tend to do for the 4K UHD discs I own, at least the titles which have the OG mix.

Thanks for letting us all know. It really added to the quality of this thread.

No need to be condescending. Just stating my preference for original cinema audio mixes. Thankfully this preservation has it as DTS-HD Master Audio 2.0.

As an FYI, the original theatrical track is 5.1 Dolby/Spectral not 2.0. It’s just only been released on home video in 2.0 - I’ve confirmed with the director - I’ll have more info on that audio track that I can share at a later date.

Are you telling me that Disney Movie Club BD is okay with the audio? Madness…

STAR WARS is still on NETFLIX! Please check inside as to which NETFLIX. (Many images warning!)
Time

Already made this on a different forum.
Yes. there’s still a lot of STAR WARS on OG DVD NETFLIX which is exclusive to the USA. 2023 celebrates 25 years of DVD NETFLIX.
I still have my account. Only $16.38 per month for 2 titles at a time unlimited with Blu-ray disc option.
Here’s what DVD NETFLIX has. Many of the LEGENDS titles aren’t available for rental aka Save to Queue, but used to be. Those are: DROIDS, EWOKS, and the EWOK double feature DVD10.
Yup, I already rated all of these.
THE CLONE WARS and REBELS are DVD rentals only. THE CLONE WARS doesn’t have Season 5 or 6 for rental.

The Matrix Reloaded and Revolutions 4:3 Open Matte DVD Preservation (Released)
Time

Would it be worth it to get the Open Matte DVDs at all? I own The Ultimate MATRIX Collection Blu-ray disc set, the individual 4K+BDs for THE MATRIX, THE MATRIX RELOADED, and THE MATRIX REVOLUTIONS.

THE MATRIX RELOADED Full-Screen DVD from Decluttr
THE MATRIX REVOLUTIONS Full-Screen DVD from Decluttr
Tons of other places to buy from too.

I used to own the below but I completely regret selling it.
Fa-Ubfah-Xg-AAGWcn.jpg
ENTER THE MATRIX and THE MATRIX: PATH OF NEO are still excellent video games. Still have the latter for PC. Got it to work with Windows 10 with a lot of help from PCGamingWiki.

Audio Mixes used for the 2019 SE release of the Original Trilogy - any issues?

Doesn’t mean there can’t be mistakes to notice and be aware of; nothing is flawless.

True. I’ve figured since there’s too many official releases which have alterations galore, those alterations are of course going to add mistakes. Then there’s the fan edits, randomly speculating, which have fixed those mistakes specific to those versions too, audio included. 2004 DVD audio mix ‘error’ during the Death Star run isn’t an error since it’s the 2004 DVD version, not the 1977/1981 Cinema release or the 1997 Special Edition.
All-in-all, the 2019/2020 release for the OT aren’t the same versions as released originally in cinemas. Of course people know that on this forum. But not many in fact want to have all the officially released main versions. That’s a lot of shelf along with storage space if one is willing.
Repeating a prior post. 2019/2020 audio mix is that audio mix, not the OG cinema ones. I don’t mind owning it either since I’m aiming for all the official versions instead of just only one.

You’re right that TCW uses a slightly abnormal aspect ratio, so it’s not ‘true’ 720p by that measure. But still, it’s perfectly sharp for the quality of the actual animation. I don’t think you’d really notice any difference, even on a large screen, which I watch on myself. The video doesn’t have any compression artefacts.

I’m of the opinion aspect ratio and resolution aren’t necessarily the end thing. Have had too many non-anamorphic, for TVs, DVDs back in the day regarding 1.78:1 and greater. BUT, those were 480i/576i, not 480p/576p. Not HD of course but NTSC and PAL.
Still it’s nice THE CLONE WARS is featured in the 2.35:1/2.40:1 aspect ratio, same as the OT and PT.
Great project too.

ANYWAY.
Are there any fan edits which are Extended Editions for OT and PT? THE CLONE WARS, REBELS, and ROGUE ONE? The last one I doubt it since there weren’t any deleted scenes on any of the releases. The Index thread hasn’t been updated since last year, but I’m going to check again.
Not interested in any fan edits of the Sequel Trilogy, or Solo.

If it’s official, there’s no problems, then?

Correct. Because the 2019/2020 Disney+/4K/Blu-ray discs aren’t the 1977/1981 version for STAR WARS, not the 1980 version for THE EMPIRE STRIKES BACK, and not the 1983 version of RETURN OF THE JEDI. What with all the newer edits, of course there’s different audio mix for this version.
Comparisons on Movie-Censorship:

It’s not the 1997 Special Edition, nor the 2004 DVDs, nor the 2006 DVDs aka “GOUT”, nor the 2011 Blu-ray discs, for the Original Trilogy either. It’s what I have in italics in regards to which release it is.
It’s how I’ve justified all the differing official releases. I didn’t want to list the VHS or Laserdisc, let alone CED, of course. Just current physical media.

My edit plays in chronological order, though it does make some changes to the official Disney/Lucasfilm chronological ordering because I wanted to get some storylines kicking off sooner. But if you watch it end to end, it will not break either its internal canon or wider SW canon. So you can replace the original show with this.

This is 720p, not 1080p. My PC struggled with editing 1080p files, and also, IMO there’s very little gain for 1080 for this show, since the models and lighting are so flat, especially earlier on. I don’t think you lose much at all. There are one or two lower quality sources, but they are minor, and I don’t think you’d notice them. Some cut scenes are included, but again you wouldn’t notice a quality dip.

Credits come at the end of each of my episodes, and generally my episodes are each a full arc from the show. In a couple of places, an arc from the show is split over multiple episodes however, and each of these has their own credits.

Having said all of the above, you may instead prefer Numeraljoker’s edit, which doesn’t edit the content at all (in terms of shots/narrative), but which presents each arc as a single episode, all to 1080p+ and HDR (I believe). Where his is the original content to shiny quality, mine is designed to improve the narrative.

Numeraljoker’s edit then, but Seasons 1-6. Can be 1080p for that and not upscaled, since the BDs & THE MOVIE was 1080p. This forum has a bad layout, no search function amongst lacking other features, so I’m going to check the stickied thread for that.
Regarding the 2.35:1/2.40:1 aspect ratio of the show, did you find 720p to be okay with what you did regarding this fan edit? Especially with the episodes/movies you’ve alotted with the project, and the compression. I’ll reread the first post to see which cut scenes you added back in.
In fact I’m honestly interested in this and Numeraljoker’s presentation.
As mentioned, I’ll still get the BDs of Seasons 1 through 6, more for the bonus features.
Already have Season 7 in 4K with HDR, 31.7GB, as shown in the order in the image below. Haven’t even watched it yet, but would be neat to watch your edit of Season 7 afterward.

The Clone Wars: Refocused (v1.5) [100%] - All core episodes COMPLETE! + Thoughts on the new TALES OF THE JEDI

I AM heavily interested in this Fan Edit of THE CLONE WARS series. Maybe not Season based, but Chronological Story based.
If I have misunderstood your fan edit is in fact Chronological Story order for Seasons 1 through 6 (The Lost Missions), including the MOVIE, then of course I’m interested. Especially if it’s 1080p with subtitles, and puts all the credits at the end of the “chunk” of a particular story. Season 7 can be “left off” regarding fan edits for me, since it’s 4K HDR10, easier to watch separately, and would be a wild jump from seasons 1-6 in terms of resolution. That, and it was made after the animatics which are the abandoned stories aka different production. No idea how the quality is regarding deleted scenes from the Blu-rays or if those are included at all regarding this. I’d need to thoroughly re-read the first post of your thread regarding your fan edit.
Pity Lucasfilm Ltd. only had lossy audio instead of lossless regarding the Blu-ray discs of THE CLONE WARS Seasons 1 through 6. And no chronological story order either, which I doubt they’re willing to do.
Haven’t watched Tales of the Jedi yet.
I didn’t even watch THE CLONE WARS when it first broadcast. Watched it at a friends house on Blu-ray disc around the time STAR WARS REBELS Season 2 was on its second episode. Was a LOT of disc swapping since chronological story order with Seasons 1 through 6. Was hooked 100% with the Second Battle of Geonosis. Only have THE CLONE WARS movie on Blu-ray disc, and have been meaning to get the rest of the Blu-ray discs at least second hand.
I’ve a lot of catching up to do with my STAR WARS physical media collection. Thankfully a lot are brand new purchases instead of buying specific releases all over again.

Wasabi, you’re being way too antagonistic for this forum. Like what you like, and feel free to request or encourage editors to consider the things you like. But once you’re asked to stop, stop and move on. Quit harrassing editors, and quit taking such a combative tone.

I did take a quick look in your fan edit thread for The Clone Wars: Refocused (v1.5) [100%] - All core episodes COMPLETE! + Thoughts on the new TALES OF THE JEDI, from my understanding, it was based more on the originally broadcast Season model, and not the Chronological one.

If you’re not editing this in 4K or 4K HDR, not interested in the slightest.

Ok fair enough, this is 1080p if this is not to your liking then why even bother commenting.

There is a lot of time and effort spent on creating edits and there are many fan editors and those who enjoy fan edits in this community. discussion is always welcome whether it’s praise or criticism but to just be straight up rude!
What’s the point!

1080p when this is 4K HDR10/DV natively on Disney+… Why though? You should have worked with better quality. Doubt you even bothered with subtitles.

The Book of Boba Fett - MediaInfo 4K HDR10

Maybe someone could make a 4K HDR10 aka REC.2020 of this instead of ONLY 1080p.
Nice try though. Better luck tomorrow.

Just stay off my thread!

No.

Did mummy and daddy just recently buy you a 4k tv for Christmas or something and your crying out for 4k content to show off to your little friends…. Awwwww 😂

My parents are dead. Thank you kindly.
