I'm Seeking Help Recreating Rogue One Title Sequence
Time

Is this just two video layers that you’re cross-dissolving between? If so, to make what you’re describing work you’ll need to recreate the background and then both text elements as separate layers, placing one layer “behind” the other for the intended effect. The STAR WARS logo should be fairly easy as you can find transparent versions of that everywhere, and have it just shrink then fade. The ROGUE ONE animation might be trickier, but if you grab a screenshot of the starfield from that video and use that as a background you might be able to pull it off. So:

  1. Background starfield from screenshot
  2. STAR WARS logo that shrinks then fades
  3. ROGUE ONE video element that dissolves in over the other two

Thanks for the tips! Yes this is just two video layers cross dissolving. The hard part is exactly as you said with the Rogue One animation. I pulled it from the teaser trailer, which unfortunately, the first frame already shows the text turning so there’s no frame with just the background.

I'm Seeking Help Recreating Rogue One Title Sequence
Time

Here’s my rough edit of the title sequence I’m using in my “Rogue One” edit. I am hoping to receive help with it altering or editing, or even recreating (if necessary) this so that:

  • The “Star Wars” text is behind the appearing “Rogue One” text, rather than dissolved into each other
  • Both share the same background of stars, as the current dissolve is noticeable between the two

https://youtu.be/yjM3T5-68hQ

Is anyone here able to do something like this and willing to help, or already have something similar?

Many thanks to everyone!

The only things good to come out of the SE IMO was the Wampa additions and Ian McDiarmid… That’s about it. I wish we could get some sort of home video release that’s like a “make your own Star Wars” kinda thing. IDK… Just my thoughts on the matter.

You mean like select the version of each altered scene you want and it plays it for you? Thatd be cool. It’s too bad no one could legitmately do that as a business for fans and prodice a custom edit based on multiple options.

The Essential Star Wars Animated Series Episodes for Movie Marathon Inclusion

I think it would be great to include Ahsoka’s intro but cut the Jabba subplot. Add in something else like clone cadets and the battle of Kamino. Then do Morris. Then do the intro of Savage and Maul. Then Ahsoka leaving. Then the chip episodes, yodas quest, then siege of Mandalore

Agreed on wanting to include Ahsoka’s introduction from the Clone Wars Movies but not wanting to really sit through the whole movie.

What other episodes from Clone Wars 2003 can we include? Definitely the final episode on the Attack on Coruscant. I would place that right before Clone Wars S7- 09 “Old Friends Not Forgotten”.

Rebels- I would definitely incorporate the inclusions of Vader, Ashoka, Maul, and Rex in S2, and Maul and Obi Wan in S3. How can we condense the rest of the series so we can introduce the new characters into the fold and follow their stories to a conclusion before “Rogue One?”

You might be. No you may just remember it that way. I remember watching Episode 1 in theaters and seeing a cantina band in the stands of the pod race, but when it came out on VHS it wasn’t there. I didn’t see it again until I saw the extended deleted scenes in the first DVD release. At least that’s how my memory is.

I also remember watching Episode II in theaters thinking Anakin had the right moves with Padme, which would explain why I had absolutely no game for a long time.

The Essential Star Wars Animated Series Episodes for Movie Marathon Inclusion

Now that the Clone Wars Series is completed, I’m interested to hear everyone’s thoughts on which episodes of Clone Wars (2003), The Clone Wars Series, and Rebels you feel are the most essential to include watching in between the movies. I enjoyed all the series’ start to finish, but to watch in chronological order with the movies, I would prefer to watch only episodes that are more relevant to the characters that tie in with the movies/ main stories of the shows.

So which Show Episodes would you include in such a marathon and in what order would you watch them in?

Amongst the ESB Changes, I’m caught in the middle:

The Wampa Cave: I like the original suspense of not seeing the monster, but it just comes out of nowhere once Luke is freed, which is a bit of a continuity issue for me.

Luke is struggling to free himself in time. He’s woken by the creatures roar & it’s clear that it’s on it’s way. It doesn’t “come out of nowhere.” The scene makes sense.

Yes He hears it off in the distance, and in the original cut we get a glimpse of it lurking behind some ice, but in the wide shot of Luke falling, it’s not close enough to attack him right afterwards, hence the continuity issue for me.

In my cut, I keep the original cut until Luke frees himself, then I use the SE edition shot of Luke Falling free that includes the Wampa approaching from behind for a split second, and I kept the SE shot that shows the Wampa screaming with his arm cut off. The result maintains the “Jaws” suspense of the original, makes Luke’s fall more urgent, and gives the viewer the payoff of finally seeing the Wampa for half a second before Luke runs.

Amongst the ESB Changes, I’m caught in the middle:

The Wampa Cave: I like the original suspense of not seeing the monster, but it just comes out of nowhere once Luke is freed, which is a bit of a continuity issue for me. In my personal cut, the scene starts with the original shot and edits over to the SE showing the Monsters arm as it approaches Luke as he falls to the ground, and we briefly see the monster scream when it’s arm is cut off.

Luke’s Dagobah Quip: “You’re lucky you don’t tase very good” has more life to it than the change.

The Emperor scene: Sure there’s alack of continuity between the original and ROTJ, and he looks weird, but I still prefer the original Emperor, both visually and dialogue than the 2004 change. Palpatine looks very different in ROTJ than he did in ROTS, but this change has him look exactly as he did in III, over 20 yrs later, which is nitpick, but I just don’t like it. It just takes me out of the movie. And the original dialogue is more ominous.

Boba Fett redub: Original. Nuff said

Bespin: The SE cityscapes improve it for me. I like the SE additions

Alert my star destroyer/ Shuttle: I edited “Bring my shuttle” back into my copy, but I kept the quick shots of Vaders Shuttle approaching his Star Destroyer, and landing, because I think it adds to the suspense of the situation at hand than without it.

The Rise of Skywalker: Ascendant (Released)

Here is a potential crawl, based on one drafted by DZ-330:

“Episode IX
THE RISE OF SKYWALKER

Luke Skywalker has ignited a resurgence of hope in the galaxy. The populace of countless worlds have risen up against the diabolical First Order.

Rey, the last hope of the Jedi, continues her training under General Leia Organa, hoping to commune with Jedi of the past.

Meanwhile, Supreme Leader Kylo Ren, determined to destroy any threat to his rule, seeks the source of his former master’s power…”

Only change I can think of to this to feel most like a traditional Star Wars crawl would be to start with “There is a resurgence of hope in the galaxy.”
