Wookie Groomer's 1080p Star Wars Saga project (Released)
Time

I never have any trouble with my usenet provider, but i have all of  the previouswookie downloads wiped.

After that i downloaded everything for the thirth time (with the good par set), then it took 6 hours to repair, but i have them all three now sitting on the HD ready to be watched.

Thanx 4 your support!, and Wookie thanx for all your efforts in these releases!

Wookie Groomer's 1080p Star Wars Saga project (Released)
Time

Anyone else has a problem with missing files from :

Star.Wars.Return.Of.The.Jedi.PROPER.REISSUE.Bluray.Format.1080P

I'm missing:

Star.Wars.Return.Of.The.Jedi.PROPER.REISSUE.Bluray.Format.1080P.part004

Star.Wars.Return.Of.The.Jedi.PROPER.REISSUE.Bluray.Format.1080P.part011

Star.Wars.Return.Of.The.Jedi.PROPER.REISSUE.Bluray.Format.1080P.part059

Star.Wars.Return.Of.The.Jedi.PROPER.REISSUE.Bluray.Format.1080P.part076

Star.Wars.Return.Of.The.Jedi.PROPER.REISSUE.Bluray.Format.1080P.part136

I have downloaded this batch 2 times already, and also the above files seperate, but all i get are some nonsens rar files and a jpeg of a very hairy woman........

I'm missing about 110 blocks and extra PAR's don't help me out, i'm i missing something. It's not my newsserver as the other two releases where without any problems and i have a retention for about 200 days.

So if anyone can help me out please do!

With kind regards,

Alien Appendix #3: The Alien Archive (Released)

1. Yes - we're on AA4 now, which is very much centred on Aliens (with a section for Alien War).

2. Yes, probably! I'll just get the last few pieces together and then start a new thread announcing what to expect.

Regarding stills material, I agree that scan of interesting material would be worthwhile additions in a ROM folder, space permitting. Menu screens and slideshows are very labour-intensive (and frequently don't do justice to the quality/resolution of the source) so I'm less keen on that approach.

I'm going to send a few PMs to see what final bits and pieces we can gather up before 'locking' the compilation!

Just sendyou a PM with a download link with some intresting stuff.....

This is B*llshit, there isn't a faster way to get your data then through usenet!

Judging from the reactions of some Usenet folks here and elsewhere, if I didn't know better I would assume it must be an Apple technology. :-)

All negative1 said was that scenarios exist wherein it is possible to get a file through a torrent faster than through Usenet. I believe he expressed that point fairly clearly: "...getting huge DVD files is ENTIRELY possible given enough seeders/peers, and a good connection" (my emphasis).

Ron Moses

Sorry but negative1 is still wrong. Downloading a torrent, no matter which software you use, no matter the amount of seeders, you will still have to contend with overhead. Torrents will never max out your line speed. Usenet does. Period.

AMEN!!!

Shows that I will download this DVD9 in 1hour and 52 minutes. This could never be done with a torrent.

please don't ever use the words 'could never be done' in an statement like
that...

i have a 20Mbit downstream setup, and the newsgroups option was
one of the slowest most painful method i have ever used to get files..

rapid*s*h*a*r*e is about a million times faster for me(ok, maybe slightly
less)....

[sarcasm] i don't care how many (elite) people on here use newsgroups, yeah, i used them 'about' 15 years ago...i'm sorry but that antiquated old method+hokey religion is no match for the fancy torrent software (and a blaster) out there now...
[/sarcasm]

i have download huge torrents at 1.5-2Mbits max speed,=a few hours, so getting huge DVD files is ENTIRELY possible given enough seeders/peers, and a good connection..

in fact, right now i'm getting the 47gig 1080p version of a certain
(ahem) OT right now......and it should be here in a few days..i think
it would take me several weeks using newsgroups, if i could even
find it there....

maybe i should post screenshots from the endless amount of time
it took my newsreader to get the files...

to each their own..

my aren't we impatient people !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

(spoiled kids need to get off MY LAWN TOO!!!! back in my day we had 300baud
modems, and had to swap floppy discs to get the data
on the other side, and dont EVEN talk to me about
punchcards either!!!)

there, i feel much better now..

This is B*llshit, there isn't a faster way to get your data then through usenet! Simply because it uses the maximum bandwith as agreed with your provider (if you have a good usenet provider) I got this baby in 40 minutes from usenet to my HD (20Mbit), you will never get this speeds from torrents or rapidshare.......

Those DL burners are less expensive then a commercial available DVD.... Otherwise use DVD-rebuilder to compress the DVD-9 to DVD5.

I'm not usually such a dumb-ass noob, but there's gotta be an easier way to get the audio files only of the Story of.... trilogy?

Newsgroups in 3 minutes:

1. Get Grabit @ www.shemes.com (and install it)
2. Get a Usenet provider (www.astraweb.com)
3. Start Grabit and download

Every GOOD Usenet-Provider will provide you with the needed info to configure Grabit (or Newsleech, ect, ect). This is the best and fastest way to download almost all content spoken about on this forum.

Thank you. I didn't know that Utorrent was needed (I'm a real newbie at all this). But I downloaded it and then downloaded the torrent. Now it's doing something called seeding, which seems to take forever. I don't really know what that is, though.

Edit: it is now running, but I too am having trouble with the sound. What site would you recommend to download this AC3 codec? I'm watching it on Windows Media Player, btw. Thanks in advance / Chrille

Good to see that your torrenting! Seeding is the process where you provide the data to download for others, it's fair to seed 100% also!

Unfortunately I know nothing about how to work torrents and wanted to know what other alternatives there is to view his work. Like maybe a free download site where it's uploaded? Like I said, I'm very incompetent when it comes to these things, so the simpler the better

Thanks in advance

It's also available on Rapidshare and Usenet...
