Help: looking for... 'Battle Angel Alita' (Manga UK version only)
Time

i just got a vhs coverter, to rip to pc for about £30 (it came with dvd AND blu-ray authoring software witch made it worth the price alone, so my old dub to blu-ray rips can have that more legit feel…) And a vhs player from a charity shop for £10- no remote; not even sure the remote would have had tracking options.
Anyhow i watched both akira and battle angel tv recordings- can say i can live without the old akira dub, but uk alita- so nice to hear her voice again! Tracking is rough at the beginning, and the end the credits are gone just seconds in to a reckless press of the record button, to record some news on the bullshit of what was the irac’i war… the sound had expected noise and i’m just clearing it up so its minimal- without making things sound like everything is underwater (happens when you over do it).
Gonna do a repeat rip tomorrow to see if things could run smoother now the tape has been run for the first time in decades- i will say, vhs never felt pixel deprived back in the day and only looks bad when turned to pixels, miss those days. Will put results on youtube (get clipgrab) but can privide a temp link if you want to denoise rips yourself.
Hope a someone nice puts out a proper release rip some time.

Help: looking for... 'Battle Angel Alita' (Manga UK version only)
Time

i found this post trying to do the same thing (and looking for bd versions) vhs can be bought but have to scrutinize the cast names as its not strictly separate cast for vhs and dvd.
heres the cast list: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0107061/fullcredits?ref_=tt_cl_sm#cast
and heres an example of false hope! http://www.amazon.co.uk/Battle-Angel-Alita-VHS-Miki/dp/B00004COJ9
note that Amanda win lee is Gally (ADV- the one we don’t want), and Larissa Murray is Alita (manga uk- the one we want).
i moved house and dumped all my vhs recorded anime (had most on dvd/bd) except the one i had akira on as i wanted to do the same with it. it happens battle angel alita was the last thing i recorded on it but this is of the sci-fi channel and had adverts- god knows what state the sound is in. i would like to get it converted but i’m frankly poor (despite this being buried alive in accumulated anime. rather than fork out for a fancy converter for ONE vhs i may be able to get it done by some shop and request they give it to me as raw as possible (akira and alita with one blow). but given the paused adverts, syncing will be difficult and i’d have to heal the breaks with the dvd track (i’m doing something similar for the shitty bd street fighter 2 the animated movie track-they botched the music in the chun lee/vega fight and lost the background sounds by not consolidated all the channels into 2.0 by only using the forward L/R- the dvd cut had 5.1).
i would suggest buying official vhs/dvd? manga dub to maximize quality- i’m hesitant being christmas season (though may be discounts) and the price of conversion.
other titles that may interest are My neighbor totoro- i did a fox dub for my blu-ray rip-its awesome.
I also did one for patlabor 2 bd with manga dub-good voices but i think sync-outs of individual characters are due to them and this second noticed, when i checked the name of the new dub-bandai. will get back on that one i guess.
