ANDOR: A STAR WARS STORY - The 2.5 Hour Single Film Cut - Released!

Stuff with side characters, not related to either Cassian, Mothma, Luthen, or Deidra/Cyril, I was basically skipping. Although I was trying to pay attention if any of it came to major relevance later, and honestly msot of it did not. I think any of the lesser arcs outside of those those characters can be almost entirely cut, outside of where they intersect with the main characters.

The act structure will be tricky, but this can definitely be made into ONE great film.

Although I really enjoyed a lot of the subplots and minor characters, I agree with you that by sticking to the major characters and plotlines, something feeling like an actual film can be achieved. That’s exactly how I approached my edit of season one.

Obviously, tons of footage will have to be cut, but that’s what makes it such a fun challenge. Some people will never be interested in watching season two in an abbreviated form, which I get, but I still believe many people will enjoy the alternate viewing experience of a film trilogy ending with Rogue One. I know I will!

Are you planning on revising this edit once the entire series is complete? I was very impressed by how well you were able to compress it all into 2.5 hours, but the events of the second season have certainly complicated things. 😉 I’ll be very curious to see what you come up with if you’re planning to do so.

It’s definitely going to take some serious thought. I’ve been trying to just let myself enjoy the season as it is so far, but I must admit that at times I’m kind of editing as I watch. I’ve got some ideas that I think will work, but I won’t know for sure until I dive into it.

The same thing happened to me, twice. The trick is that the other person has to start the chat. If you do it and post the link, you’ll be flagged for spam. It’s why I shout at people in all-caps to PM me instead of the usual ‘Lnks plz’ bullshit in the thread.

BTW, I’m looking forward to seeing how you figure out a movie length cut of Andor s2 after you miracled up one from s1. 😉

Yeah, I figured out that detail about starting chats, too. The upside is that getting banned from anything makes you feel a little bit like a rebel. Kinda fun, haha!

Andor Season 2 is definitely going to be a challenge. Without seeing the entire season yet, it’s pretty hard to know how I’m gonna go on this one, especially as more and more minor characters get woven into the plot lines of the major characters. Still, it should be an interesting challenge.

Also, I am trying to send you a DM in Reddit about Andor Season 1 edit and I am not able. I don’t understand why. When I finally succeeded sending a message, it was removed just after because, apparently, it does not allow new accounts to send messages or comments. Anyway, could I also get the link of Andor too please?

Reddit might have blocked you from contacting me because they had banned my account for a few days claiming that I was spamming people when, in fact, all I was doing was responding to an overload of link requests. Anyway, it’s back up and running now!

Check your DMs here.

Best OT fan edits that place an emphasis on continuity with the prequel canon?
Time

Like many others, when it came to the force ghost scene, I used to be an adamant Shaw supporter. I still like the original very much, but I’ve also come to see the merit in continuity between trilogies. The Kenobi show also sparked my interest in trying to come up with something that could possibly tie things together a bit better. Here’s something I put together using footage of Hayden’s face from recent interviews so that it’s more age-accurate.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yF55QWytYbE

I also took the Hayden Christensen as Anakin/Darth Vader Deepfake by Crimson Maul and, by way of a lot of composite work, attempted to merge it a bit more smoothly into the scene. The results are pretty decent for when I’m in the mood to watch a version of ROTJ with only Hayden.

Crimson Maul’s deepfake work was very good, but it’s from a few years back already. I’ve been hoping that, with the advancements in AI, Crimson Maul or someone else would create a really clean version of the unmasking of Vader featuring Hayden Christensen. If there’s anyone out there with that capability, please consider taking on the project. Just about any Star Wars fan would be interested in seeing that, and the fan-editing community would be in your debt.

ANDOR: A STAR WARS STORY

The 2.5 Hour Single Film Cut

WHY MAKE THIS FAN EDIT?

I made this edit solely to create an alternate viewing experience, and not as a criticism of the extremely well-made television show.

WHO IS THIS CUT FOR?

For those who already love the show but would also like a concise version that fits perfectly into a Star Wars movie marathon.

For long-time Star Wars fans who appreciate the show (and wanted to love it) but found that the pace and secondary plots were not for them, making a rewatch of the entire series highly unlikely.

For anyone who would simply love to see this story cut down to match the pace of classic Star Wars and other action/adventure films.

HOW WAS THIS CUT ACHIEVED?

By focusing the narrative primarily on Cassian Andor and secondarily on Luthen Rael. All other characters come and go as needed to support that narrative.

By not only reducing or cutting out other side-plots entirely, but also by tightening up all of the remaining scenes to convey the most necessary information and to keep the movie pace rolling, while still allowing it to breathe where it should.

By reducing the number of conversations characters have about the same topic and allowing the viewer to see how things play out rather than needing the whole plan explained in advance.

OTHER CHANGES

Creation of an opening crawl that sets up the events of Cassian’s childhood on Kenari, two years before the start of the Clone Wars.

Insertion of a classic Star Wars iris-wipe to close the film.

CONCLUSION

There’s no telling if this same treatment will work with Season Two, but my hope is to create a trilogy with Rogue One as the final film.

Even now, this cut works great with my Rogue One fan edit!

RUNTIME 2h:32m

PM me for more info.

Special thanks to Eddie Dean and NFBisms for their work on Andor: The Movie Omnibus (Four Movies; Nothing Removed) for structural inspiration.

Hey guys, thanks again for all the interest in this project! As I’ve said before, it was a fun experiment to see if I could make it work. As with most of my fan edits, I was originally just doing it for myself, but in the end, I thought it could at least be inspirational to others.

Anyway, I’ve been hearing that the Snoke identity reference is too hard to pick up. It’s kinda buried because I didn’t want it to be too over the top. I figured it would be better as an Easter Egg, but if you listen closely at 2:00:43, 2:01:08, and 2:05:12 you might pick it up.

SPOILERS AHEAD!
So stop here if you want to figure it out for yourself.

The first time, they chant, “Plagueis the Wise.” The next two times, they chant, “Plagueis.”

I have to admit, I was hoping it would have been clearer to people.

Now that you know, you’ll probably hear it every time.

I’ve now finished both parts and I honestly have to say that I really enjoyed them!
Of course, you can only do so much with the material at hand. But I think you made the best of it!

The idea behind this is impressive, your creativity in implementation is remarkable and your technical skills are enviable! 😄
It may not be my go-to version of the ST, but this is definitely an edit I’ll watch again sometimes!

(One question though: who is Snoke? Unfortunately I couldn’t hear the reference…)

Thanks, I’m really glad you enjoyed it!

Yeah, the Snoke identity reference is kinda buried because I didn’t want it to be too over the top. I figured it would be better as an Easter Egg, but if you listen closely at 2:00:43, 2:01:08, and 2:05:12 you might pick it up.

If you still can’t make it out, ask me again.
