I apologize if this is the wrong place to post this, but it is a "find" in a way, but in another way it's a podcast I co-host with my brother where we talk about mostly film-topics (since I like making them) to an incredibly small audience which consists mostly of friends...
and we are currently going through a very elaborate "review" of all six "Star Wars" films before Episode VII shows up.
I felt that I think you guys would maybe be interested in listening, if you wanted.
Even though we've seen all the films countless times over, we are going through them pretending that we've seen them for the first time ever - (but the prequels are reviewed as if we only know about the OT minus the overwhelming hype, which might lead to a bit of an interesting opinion...)
the actual review starts at: 44:27 in case you don't want to listen to anything off-topic
starts at: 6:55
starts at: 47:52
If that wasn't completely un-listenable, we'll go through the last two prequels in August and October, and get to "Jedi"and "Force Awakens" in November and December. I'm usually the louder one that does all the hokey impressions in these podcasts.
Again, this is just a 'two guys talking' format, and there might be a lot of inside-jokes that might not register, but I felt that at least one or two might be entertained by some scene-by-scene talks over the Star Wars films. I also understand it's a loooooooooong haul to commit to, but I think it can at least fill up a few hours during boring car/air/train travels.
I endorse this.
Hey, thanks HAL!
I hope we went to enough detail and "review" and didn't get boring enough to make the listening interest crash and burn. Glad about that!
good
Not uniquely Star Wars but there's more than enough in there. Apologies if this has been posted before elsewhere.

Looking inside the new BB-8 toy
I think they are saying that since it's a fully sealed sphere, you could run it through water and it would still work? Also...
VIZ TOP TIPS! - PARENTS. Impress your children by showing them a floppy disk and telling them it’s a 3D model of a save icon.

Call me jaded, but I can't see why grown adults would make such a fuss over a little plastic knick-knack.
“That Darth Vader, man. Sure does love eating Jedi.”
Star Wars Advance, a trailer of a mod I just finished programming.

One of the more talented and amusing youtube reviewers (The Unusual Suspect) has his Episode I review up. Warnings for crude humor and praise for Episode I (but also plenty of criticism).

Darth Farmer no more! :)
Putting that up on the OT twitter.

It was interesting to hear his comments on James Earl Jones. Before seeing this video, I had been left with the impression that he held some resentment towards Jones.

To be completely honest, I like the "what if" scenario, I like Prowse's voice and delivery, what I find ridiculous is the laughably amateurish attitude towards dubbing that both the british and the americans seem to have. There's seldom any attempts to keep in sync WHILE recording, and honestly if you don't get it right in the booth there's little chance of making it sound convincing in post.
What they showed at 8:50 with the "Voice aligned" section was APPALLING. The music in the background can't hide flaws from attentive ears. It was very obvious that the sync had been artificially manipulated and it sounded really choppy. And that was achieved using very expensive software?? Puh-lease!
This is why the american audience comes off as having a visceral dislike for dubbing... you've always been terrible at it!
And this was ADR on only two lines, by the same actor, in a controlled studio environment with (presumably) few time constraints. I'll admit that I've seen good ADR from some english and american actors, "Star Wars" has some good examples of it, but overall... I'm not impressed at all. I know the actual intent of this video was (supposedly) to paint a picture of what it would've been like, had they chosen Prowse for the ADR on Darth Vader, but having seen and heard what good dubbing is like, if it weren't for Prowse I fail to see the point of this video. Good ADR or dubbing doesn't need expensive pieces of software to keep the sync.
Sorry for the off topic rant, but I felt it needed to be said.
Want to bet this commercial comes back in a special edition? ;)
