Star Wars was dead long before Disney assimilated its corpse into their collective.

Arrivederci.

The one we knew pre-Disney is officially dead but as long as we keep up the hope and continue the traditions of both the EU and restoring the unaltered cuts in new ways then Star Wars will never truly die. But I digress, the answer to your question is yes and no. Like a certain pathological liar we all know said “The truths we hold are dependent on our point of view.”

I can answer almost all questions anyone might have about the Sith from Star Wars Legends, and please do PM me for the bd25 DEED(Despecalised Editions), as I have this version, though I can’t answer technical questions about them. Auntie Derry/Rumpelstiltskin.

I guess every generation thinking Star Wars is dead is just going to be a thing from now on.

I guess we should all go to our local stores and let any kids buying Star Wars books, toys or games know that actually Star Wars is dead and they can’t like it anymore.

Hey now, I never said the kids couldn’t practice necrophilia. I’m not personally into it, but different strokes, different folks and all that jazz.

Man, they made the best stuff when I was the most impressionable. I wish I could go back to the old days.

Music today sucks even though I don’t listen to any of it or actively look for any that might interest me.

This new movie sucks because it didn’t feel like the old movie! This other new movie sucks because it was too similar to the old movie!

This reminds me of a page on the hilarious Doctor Who General Wiki (RIP) titled “Times Doctor Who Died”. The first entry in the list was “Doctor Who is Born. Doctor Who Dies.”

Speaking of Doctor Who, just like that show, Star Wars sometimes undergoes regeneration, dying and being born anew. It may not be the Star Wars you knew, but it’s Star Wars now.

Star Trek has been pronounced dead more times than I can remember. 1968 and 1979 spring to mind. 😛

Where were you in '77?

I think I was acclimated to Star Wars regenerating early on …as a fan of the original Marvel comic series , watching it end and then when Dark Horse got the license , that original was no longer considered relevant , until the novels and some comics started cherry picking from it . Kind of the same situation with the current canon .

I grew up with multiple Star Wars’s. There were the films. There were the comics. There were the books. There were the spinoff books. There were the toys and how my friends and I played with them. I never tried to make them all one. The Marvel comics were wild and carried the adventure to new levels. Each new film changed things. Each new anything changed things. I guess that has given me a higher tolerance to things changing. I’m more about the feel of the universe and for me the only film that really stands out from the rest is The Force Awakens. Just about everyone who has written for Star Wars in any medium has had a better grasp of Star Wars story telling than Abrams. Solo was exactly the movie I’ve been waiting for since reading the Brian Daley novels and the A.C. Crispin novels. I am excited for each new entry into the Star Wars universe. They’d have to go to the lengths Star Trek Discovery has gone to ruin it. For me Star Trek ended with the end of Enterprise. Everything since is rubbish. Star Wars is still going strong as far as I’m concerned.

No.

The Force Awakens was a hit.
Rogue One was a hit.
The Last Jedi was a hit, but split fandom based on how the story played out. That’s understandable with an old franchise like this and an iconic character returns in a way that not everyone agrees with.

Solo lost money though.
Why?
Maybe one reason is that the public is getting tired of a Star Wars-related movie every year.
But I don’t think because of one spin-off didn’t do well and fandom split on TLJ that Disney killed Star Wars.
If anything, they revived it.
I’m not a big fan of the new trilogy, but they managed to bring some of the magic back to the franchise: characters that you actually like and care about, the funny/comedic moments, and more believable worlds that aren’t just green screens.

Kylo Ren alone is more interesting than any character of the prequels, and probably more interesting than the portrayals of our favorite group in Return of the Jedi.

No just no. Crylo Ruin is never going to be interesting. You need to rewatch ROTJ because the characters are interesting unlike the st where all original trilogy characters get ruined and all the magic gets stamped out.

I’m doing a GOUT sync of the ROTJ mono mix as we speak.

It has its highs but, man, the lows are low. Han Solo got a raw deal in this film.

What’s the internal temperature of a TaunTaun? Luke warm.

Good for you that you’re gout syncing. Han does ALOT in ROTJ: he saves the day with Boba, he helps to get the crew into the Ewok village, he fought tooth and nail to get past the guards at the sheild generator, he placed the charges, he saved Leia from a trooper and he comforted Leia when she learned about her parents. Yeah that’s nothing. And what did Crylo do? He whined about this and that for two movies and discovered Skype.

Kylo Ren murdered Han Solo, Luke Skywalker, Snoke, and nearly took over the entire Galaxy in two films.
